Over the weekend, the United States joined with Israel to strike Iran. In the days that followed, religious leaders, elected officials, and world leaders were quick to comment on the strikes. Many chose to celebrate, while others chose to attack President Trump.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

How Are Elected Officials Reacting?

Democratic leaders in Congress are outraged over this attack. Senator Tim Kaine has reportedly sponsored a war powers resolution that would stop U.S. military action against Iran. Senator Rand Paul is cosponsoring the resolution, signifying that there is at least some Republican opposition to the President as well.

If this resolution passes, it will immediately be vetoed by the President. However, Democrats are eager to force debate on the Senate floor. Many are upset about the lack of advanced notice for the attack, as Secretary of State Marco Rubio only notified a small group of key congressional leaders before the attacks began.

Additionally, Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City and rising star on the left, was quick to condemn the attack on social media, writing that the strikes “mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.  Americans do not want this.” Some, such as Senator Ted Cruz, accused the Mayor of siding with the evil Iranian regime. Others, such as Representative Nancy Mace, simply questioned why the Mayor of a city where “constituents step over garbage on their way to work” is interjecting himself into America’s foreign policy.

How Are Muslims Reacting?

While many Muslims are outraged over the attacks, some Islamic priests believe this is the first step of a prophetic showdown. According to a Fox News investigation, certain hardline Shiite ideologues believe that the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will bring the arrival of the “Mahdi.”

According to this ideology, Mahdi will battle Dajjal, the Islamic equivalent of the antichrist, in a final battle of Armageddon. It is important to note that, for many of these Shiite ideologues, President Trump is Dajjal.

In other words, many of these Islamists are preparing for a holy, spiritual war against the President of the United States. This is a matter that needs urgent prayer.

How Are Iranians Reacting?

The United States’ strikes on Iran took out not just the nation’s Supreme Leader, but several high-ranking officials in the Iranian regime. As a result, many Iranians, who have been protesting since December against their radical Islamic rulers, have reportedly been celebrating.

According to CBS, Iranians celebrated the attacks in the streets. Many even credited President Trump’s strength and leadership, calling him a savior. Celebrations have taken place outside of Iran’s borders as well. According to the Times of Israel, Iranians and Jews in London cheered on Saturday night, celebrating the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

How Should We Pray?

It is telling that, while many in Iran are celebrating this attack, many of our own elected officials on the left are refusing to celebrate. Some have even begun defending the Iranian regime, despite the fact that those living under the regime have praised the attacks. In many ways, this is reminiscent of the capture of Venezuela’s dictator in January.

The conflict seems to be far from over, and many in our own nation have turned against the President. Let’s pray for an end to this conflict, for the protection of Israel, and for the protection of every American!
