House Passes Spending Resolution
After a tense time of uncertainty, House Republicans managed to pass a budget resolution. Both the House and the Senate have now passed budget bills. Which approach will end up reaching the President’s desk?
From The Epoch Times. The U.S. House of Representatives on Feb. 25 gave the green light to House Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) blueprint for a massive budgetary package to carry out President Donald Trump’s agenda.
Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.
The House approved the resolution in a 217–215 vote. It authorizes relevant House committees to find at least $1.5 trillion in spending cuts, $4.5 trillion in tax cuts, and a $4 trillion bump to the debt ceiling.
Only a single Republican, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), voted against the resolution, while one Democrat, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Ariz.), is away for medical reasons.
The vote on the proposal occurred just minutes after leadership announced last-minute that they were pulling it from the floor. Many lawmakers who were leaving the Capitol had to hurriedly return to the chamber. …
Republicans broke into a round of applause after the final Republican ballot had been cast, reflecting the relief after uncertainty and speculation had surrounded the proposal in the days leading up to the vote. Many went to personally shake Johnson’s hand, marking the political victory he had achieved after weeks of skepticism from both Senate Republicans and political commentators. …
The resolution’s passage means that work will now be sent to multiple committees in the House, with assignments to find potential spending cuts and to draft legislative proposals in areas related to border security, defense, energy, and taxes.
The vote’s success represents only the first step in what is expected to be a protracted battle to bring the razor-thin Republican House majority in line with a single package to institute Trump’s agenda. The current composition of the House means that Republicans can spare only a single defection in high-stakes votes. …
Republicans Divided on Cuts
Ahead of the initial vote on the blueprint, this problem was manifest as multiple Republicans expressed opposition, for sometimes completely contradictory reasons.
For instance, Reps. Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.), Jeff Van Drew (R-N.J.), and Don Bacon (R-Neb.) made clear that they had concerns about the package because of its potential impact on Medicaid. …
On the other side of the Republican ideological spectrum, however, Reps. Victoria Spartz (R-Ind.) and Massie also expressed concerns.
Spartz tied hers specifically to a demand for greater investigation and cuts to Medicaid, which Spartz suggested was potentially rife with abuse due to the automatic nature of the program’s funding. …
Senators Have Doubts
Senate Republicans have been open about their skepticism that Johnson can complete the task.
Last week, the Senate passed the first draft of its two-part budget plan, which would punt on the tax issue, while making immediate changes to border, defense, and energy budget and policy.
Whether Congress ultimately takes up the House or the Senate approach will depend primarily on the outcome of the next several weeks of backroom haggling and negotiations within the House Republican conference. …
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodie Arrington (R-Texas) told reporters that he expects the next several weeks to involve negotiations between Johnson and Thune to try to align their budget proposals. …

DEAR LORD GOD
PLEASE GUIDE ALL OUR LEADERS INTO YOUR TRUTH AND COMMANDMENTS AND HAVE THEM ALL RESPOND ACCORDING TO YOUR WILL.
I ASK IN JESUS’ NAME
AMEN
Is there no one in Congress that will actually present a budget that decreases the deficient. I don’t understand why President Trump would be willing to increase the deficient. I have no faith in Johnson or Thune to actually lower deficient. The GOA is political and makes their info the way they are told to. I trust God’s plan and will keep praying for His intervention. 🙏😇🙏
We need to reduce the debt ceiling; not add 4 trillion dollars to it. I also understand that we will be reducing or eliminating some agencies, therefore, we should not need as much money to operate.
Now on to the senate, and we will see if it passes there. May Your will be done in this matter, Lord Jesus. We thank and praise You, as you alone know what is best for our nation.
Lord Jesus, I pray that you halt this bill that the senate sees the truth of this bill that is a spending bill, that it puts in place unfair tax cuts that will hurt many low & middle class income families. Lord Jesus, we ask that the truth be told & that you would expose the spending that this bill includes, that you would open eyes to understand that not taxing tips & overtime instead of a fair adjustment to all taxpayers is going to hurt many in the low & middle class income categories as they will have to make up for these tax cuts. Lord, work in our nation, give wisdom to our leaders to do the right thing instead of what is going to get them votes. Amen
I believe congress needs to quit playing games and pass a “Clean Bills” resolution so that every bill is a single agenda/issue bill. Then we need to pass legislation that allows for home school parents to right off at minimum 75% of their states education tax portion on their federal income tax if their individual states do not issue education tax credits/vouchers.
I pray godly wisdom on the house and on the senate individuals. Let them know that they steward the American people’s money of who they represent. In Jesus’ name.
I really hate the thought of raising the debt ceiling again.
Spending cuts are absolutely essential; tax cuts not so much (at least for now). We needs leaders who will address our insane national debt and YES Medicare, Medicaid and SSN all must be on the table and reformed to make them financially viable. God grant us mercy in spite of our horrific irresponsibility.
The one thingI am concerned about is all the jobs that were cut to make this happen. What will this do for the people out of a job?
Pastor Dutch Sheets covered this very thing on one of his recent posts on Give Him 15. And he prayed for those who would need new jobs. Our God is faithful.
This will test the saints, but those willing to trust and obey will find themselves in more intimate relationship with the Lord than ever before. Been there, done that several times. Not fun, but beneficial.
Oh Lord. Have your way with all decisions that are being made. Your will be done and your Kimgdom come here and forever.
God hear us in Jesus Name
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE look up Ron Paul’ Campaign for Liberty article entitled ” Smoke and Mirrors.” He states the truth in regard to the budget. Ron Paul is in the trench, has seen past budgets, and wants to work for Liberty. He is one to pay attention to.
Thank you Lord that we do have watchdogs in our government. We pray that our government will completely do the right thing and propose a Zero budget deficit
We (I’ll go out on a limb & suggests others agree) would like further commentary on the 4T debt ceiling increase, what this might portend, and how to respond in prayer and in action – thanks!
Yes, others agree!
I already gave an Amen!
Wanted to add, LORD help us, Your Bride, be found faithful to pray, at least Let Your perfect will be done Your way!
For too long we have not been faithful, to love like You and we so confess our sin, daily, keep short accounts with You for ourself, but also Lord with others, even our leaders.
Help us believe You, with words and actions. THANK YOU Jesus, our only KING Who is G*d of the Universe🥰🙏💞thank you for making us Yours, thank you for calling us to pray…what a precious, treasure of a gift, this intimate fellowship with You, this vital, truly valiant warfare…thank you Poppi, forever love from Your princess warrior child of G*d💃🏻🤟🏼
Bind that horrid, rancid spirit of Jezebel over our land and 🇮🇱and let loose Your victorious Glorious Spirit our Good, Gracious G*d of Glory! Light up the 🌏! Come LORD! Help us be ready!
I thank Holy God for giving more of our US citizens eyes to see truth. I pray as we venture into AI that the Holy Spirit and by reading the Holy Bible w/ prayer we are not deceived.
Father God…you are all knowing and we ask for your wisdom and guidance upon those people who are in control of these tasks. For your ways are higher then our ways and your thoughts higher then our thoughts….Your will be done in all this we pray…in Jesus’ name…Amen
May the House and Senate have the humility to seek Your wisdom and discernment, so that they might receive it, and be obedient to Your leading.
1.5 +4.5 =6 – 4= 2 so we’re saving the tax paid 2 trillion of spending in the new budget?
The government will be spending less is not correct?
Praying that this is true, and I will do the right thing and spending less and prayerfully making more
Father in Heaven, Thank You for this chance to align our government with Your will, Your ways, and Your purposes .We praise You that nothing is impossible with You! We ask in the precious Name of Jesus that every aspect of our government including these spending packages will reflect what is right in Your sight. As Benjamin Franklin said, our government leaders need to continue to ask in prayer for Your great wisdom in these matters, for unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. One thing I do not understand is why the debt ceiling needs to be raised if we are cutting so much spending. Please guide our government leaders in this as well. Thank You, Father, in the mighty Name of Jesus.
Gracias Dios
Anytime you pay to God & end in Jesus name Amend. You can’t no wrong. You have a pure heart.
I pray this passes so that gods chosen rich have their wealth and the lesser meek inherit nothing.
Pray that as this budget plan is finalized for his approval and signature this it will be a budged plan that is obviously guided my the Holy Spirit. We need God through the Holy Spirit to be in charge of what we do in this nation!
Father, Thank you for this victory. Guide this bill through these committees with precision so that waste is cut but wise spending remains.
Please let the elderly and truly disabled be protected as cuts are made.
My concern would be Medicaid cuts. Health Insurance is not affordable for so many Americans. Why is the debt ceiling raised?
Still do not understand if saving a great amount why the debt ceiling must be raised. I did not read the bills yet to see what entails.
Because it cuts revenue (taxes on the wealthy) more than spending (programs to help the needy), the debt ceiling must be raised to cover the money gap. We have been sold lies by this congress.
