National Republican Congressional Committee ChairĀ Richard HudsonĀ (R-N.C.) told House Republicans at a closed-door conference meeting Tuesday morning that members should opt for tele-town halls or livestreamed events that can reach more people, rather than in-person town halls that can be hijacked by Democratic activists.

The advice comes after a slew of people at GOP lawmaker town halls across the country raised concerns about actions taken by President Trump in the first few weeks of his administration, especially changes made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). …

Republicans have slammed the interruptions, attributing them to Democratic agitators. On Monday,Ā Trump blamed ā€œPaid ā€˜troublemakersā€™ā€Ā for the viral moments.

Rep.Ā Tim BurchettĀ (R-Tenn.) said leadership advised Republicans to ā€œbe more targetedā€ when it comes to planning town halls.

ā€œI think they just urged us to be more targeted and where’s, who we’re talking to, because it’s pretty clear that they’ve got professional instigators, people that are showing up that are not even constituents,ā€ Burchett said. ā€œAnd it’s getting dangerous.ā€

ā€œThey’re going to people’s houses, they’re putting notices out, where do they live, where do they go to church, where do they eat — they did that on me,ā€ he added. ā€œThat kind of activity … breeds a very dangerous situation for families.ā€

SpeakerĀ Mike JohnsonĀ (R-La.) echoed the advice when asked about whether Republicans should hold town halls in a press conference after the Tuesday meeting, telling reporters that leadership is advising its members to utilize various avenues for communication. …

Rep. Lauren BoebertĀ (R-Colo.) — who recounted instances of ā€œcrazy activistsā€ showing up at her home — said she does not feel comfortable holding in-person town halls. …

Lord we ask for a hedge of protection and a mighty wall of fire around our elected officials. As well as a good dose of common sense, self control, and godly wisdom. May we love our neighbors and respect others. Amen

This is a bit like being held hostage by radicals, actually childish and immature but dangerously adult. I can’t say I like it, but it may be wise. It may just be another ploy of the enemy to distance us from the people who represent us in Congress. Those who are true servants desire to be accessible to their constituents, so Lord, I ask that You make a way where there seems to be no way. Grant our Congressional members wisdom and protection, as they trust You.

Are such aggressive people breaking the laws?
Shouldn’t they be kept responsible for their acts?

Accountability is a strange concept. To some it is a guiding and excellent principle – to others it represents a horror worthy of the Devil himself !
Those “For” and “Against” the whole idea of being held to account for your own actions appear roughly divided between Republican and Democrat – very little if any “crossover”.
In a dangerous world – as is the one we inhabit these days – there are obvious “benefits” to both sides of the concept.
To be totally free of all personal responsibilities for ones’ own actions is a utopian but inevitably insane concept ( unless of course one lives on an island totally free from interaction with the rest of the World – from Birth to Death – no exceptions ! ) Sadly this way of thinking is happily endorsed by one political party but without the isolation requirement ! I forsee violence and real trouble ahead for ALL views as this “All that matters is ME and MY desires – to H*ll with everyone else !” as the saying goes “All that goes around, comes around.” and that old favourite “Just deserts” is only ever a few breaths away !

I read the comments written to my elected official, it was outrageous! Hoe saddened I was to read these comments against him and president Trump. I can understand why the would not hold an in person town hall. Father, open up people to lhonor and support their elected official. Protect them and their families from people who have no moral code of conduct. Father, Your Word said righteousness exalts a nation, we need Your righteousness in our nation! We see with our own eyes how disrespectful people have become and we need Your intervention Lord! Work in the hearts and lives of people bring Your transformative work in their lives!
