House Advances Bill to End Daylight Saving Time Changes Permanently
Lawmakers in Washington are once again pushing to end the twice-yearly clock changes that have frustrated Americans for decades. A House committee voted this week to advance legislation that would make daylight saving time permanent nationwide, moving the proposal one step closer to becoming law.

From The Epoch Times:
The House Energy and Commerce Committee on May 21 advanced a bill that would make daylight saving time permanent year-round and put the current practice of changing clocks twice a year to an end.
The Sunshine Protection Act was passed in a 48ā1 vote. The bill was sponsored by Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.) and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and was added as a provision to the Motor Vehicle Modernization Act.
āWeāre one step closer to locking the clock for good,ā Buchanan said in a post on X. āIām grateful to [President Donald Trump]āwith his support, Iām confident we can finally get this across the finish line.ā
Supporters of the legislation argue that ending the biannual clock changes could improve public health, reduce traffic accidents, lower crime rates, and encourage more outdoor activity during evening hours. President Donald Trump also endorsed the effort, saying millions of dollars are wasted every year as cities, states, and businesses adjust to the time changes.
The legislation would make daylight saving time permanent year-round, meaning clocks would no longer āfall backā each autumn. However, critics warn the change could create unusually late winter sunrises in many parts of the country. Senator Tom Cotton argued that some children would begin school in darkness for months during the winter if the proposal becomes law.
The debate over daylight saving time has continued for years, with lawmakers from both parties periodically attempting to eliminate the clock changes. In 2022, a similar bill passed the Senate but ultimately stalled in the House.
While this issue may seem minor compared to many national debates, it reflects a broader frustration among Americans over government inefficiency and policies that affect daily life. Let’s pray for wisdom for lawmakers as they weigh decisions that impact families, schools, workplaces, and communities across the nation.

Im praying it fully passes. It has always been a tough process to adjust to the new time differences. I guess farmers have found unique ways to produce their crops.
Most of America wants the clocks to stop changing. 48% prefer Standard time. So 52% either prefer DST or probably have no opinion between the 2.
There’s only 1 con for Standard time. Like Carol said, it more closely matches the sun’s position and human biology, helping to regulate the body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.
So, hopefully they can come to the same conclusion.
Iām a 76 year old woman who would like to say this would be a blessing to have this bill passed for Daylight Savings. YES.. it has soo many benefits.. less crime, better mental health and safety for children. I sincerely hope this will pass for so many reasons. Please dear Lord, guide those members to vote āyesā ā¦
I never really saw the value. I wish they would permanently end Daylight Savings time. It disrupts the natural clock of the body. Our children are still standing on the corners at bus stops in the dark waiting to be picked up for school. Shine Jobs delay start times by one hour because it’s too dark to work. Let’s stop it permanently!
for those of us who have friends in the east and do business with the east and we live in the west, three hours difference in time is really hard to connect with them. I am not for “Day Light Savings” time becoming permanent. I will be contacting my legislator to vote against this bill. I will pray against this bill as is passing.
I would so love to stay on Daylight time.
The permanent change should be Standard Time, the time GOD created where at noon all across our country the sun is standing directly above our heads. Not the DST man created time. But then men trying to play GOD is why we changed the time forward with no gain except our GOD given clocks remain out of whack forever. FATHER GOD please intervene in men’s hearts to get our time right with YOUR time no matter what it seems that men want to do. No to DST
I agree with you. We need to be on standard time.
I would so love to stay on Daylight time.
