Louisiana recently celebrated a big state victory. Every state elected office was overturned from left to right as the elect stood for righteousness. Former IFA Louisiana State Leader Lisa Townsend shared the remarkable turnaround the state has seen. Of course, the victories that have been witnessed have not come cheaply. It comes with a cost when we set our hearts towards God to seek His face and do His will. What God is doing in Louisiana and other victories in the states, He can do in Yours. “The first state event I attended was IFA’s Prayer and Policy three years ago. What God has done since then, starting in 2023 and continuing until now, has been earthshaking. It was a hard-fought battle. The elected offices that were overturned were pro-choice, anti-parental rights, and left leaning. It was a fight for generations. We had to take a stand, walk in obedience, earnestly intercede with deep specific repentance for the sins of our state,” Lisa said. 

“In June, we had been praying about our next step. We, faithful intercessors and leaders, knew something big was coming. We sensed it, though we weren’t sure. We decided to continue to seek the Lord in prayer. Two weeks after that, we learned about Dutch Sheets, sharing Gina’s dream about securing the borders of each state. We knew that we were on the right page.” 

“In August 2023, we had a 31-day prayer call focusing on repentance. Sixty-four parishes participated. We prayed parish by parish, repenting of spiritual roots we were aware of in our state. We repented on behalf of people groups and atrocities such as slavery and civil war. We repented for our ties to voodoo and the occult. We started with about twenty but ended with one hundred people praying.”

“First, we repented and asked God for mercy for the atrocities committed in our state. After repentance, we could ascend into the high room, the courts of heaven. We did so through worship and decree and declaration of His Word. In that one month, we grew deeply in height and depth. The Lord taught us how to do spiritual warfare His way. Only after we laid the proper foundation through repentance and His Word did we have the right to pray for the righteous to be seated. We had to win the battle in the heavens. We exposed, declared, for a clean sweep of the seats, and God answered,” but Lisa said it was all based on repentance. 

A Prophetic Promise for Louisiana

“On October 28, 2024, I attended a Prayer Conference in Lafayette. Chuck Pierce prophesied that the Lord showed him seven important cities. There had first to be a breakthrough in those regions. He said Louisiana had a mantle to see reformation and revival. He even called for Monroe to come forth. Louisiana would spearhead a movement throughout the nation. He prophesied into the history of Louisiana, decreeing that God was rewriting their history.” 

“He didn’t know that an IFA leader had previously prophesied that God would raise a Tabernacle of David to see a governmental mantle on Louisiana. We went home to pray over that word. On January 24th, a doctor friend had a dream. The Lord showed him tabernacles in seven cities in Louisiana where he wanted tabernacles of worship. The Lord was confirming his prophetic promises for Louisiana.”

“IFA Louisiana partnered with other prayer ministries. We contacted other intercessors and worship leaders to partner with us for our state. In a few weeks, five hundred said yes. In every major city, we held outdoor worship in those seven cities on the same night in April. One city even worshipped near the waterway, which we felt was crucial, worshipping over the waters.”

“IFA did broadcast the worship. What happened was nothing short of a miracle. Denominational lines were crossed, and the Spirit of God did a mighty work. People caught ahold of the dream. There was a hunger and desperation for more of God. We’ve held two more statewide events, and the denominational walls are being closed. In Shreveport, Louisiana, there was an event at the Rose Garden with a beautiful fragrance of Christ. We stayed for two days in worship and prayer. Tom Schlueter of the Texas Apostolic Prayer Network taught on revival.”

“We have seen with our eye’s direct answers to prayer. Louisiana has been under the thumb of the enemy for a long time. We are a shofar state located at the mouth of the Mississippi. God has lit a fire under us. We are moving in unity and fighting in the Spirit to maintain that unity. We know the enemy’s tactics that cause division, like jealousy and offense. We continue to march in unity, listening for the voice of the Lord. I’m humbled by how God has used us. He wants to do that with each state as long as we do what we should. We believe that what God has been doing is sovereign, and it’s in His perfect timing, not ours. This culminates decades of faithful intercessors crying to the Lord and moving in obedience.” 

Boots on The Ground

“Part of repenting for our state was being able to put our boots on the ground, specifically at battlegrounds during the Civil War. I knew we had to do it. I was at a Gatekeepers Conference on October 30th-31st. The Civil War began in South Carolina, and they surrendered in New Orleans. As I thought about the connection, a close sister in Christ messaged me and said that the Lord told her I was to go to Gettysburg. Another of Lisa’s sisters was said to go to Manassas.”

On October 31, 2024, Lisa stood in South Carolina, and her intercessor friend Karen stood in Gettysburg. Another intercessor, Kathy, stood in Manassas unbeknownst to each other. “I prayed with Mark, the IFA State Leader from South Carolina, and his wife. It was a sovereign moment of repentance for the atrocities of the Civil War. We needed to close that door. It laid the groundwork for a divine moment. It was historic that God would use our intercession focused on repentance for the past to unite us for the future. It has been deeply humbling.”

“We didn’t know what we were doing in the beginning. In the blink of an eye, it all changed. We were driven by desperation to seek the Lord for our state and for souls. The closer we drew to God, the more compelled we were to see God move, revival, and reformation.”

Lisa believes that what God has done in Louisiana is what He wants to do in every state. She said unless we walk in humility and repentance, we cannot move forward. It’s going to require a total turn to the Lord. We must go back to that foundational scripture. 

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

“It’s time for us to go deep. Get specific and ask God to show you where repentance is needed and your region’s spiritual roots. Then, when He reveals it, ask Him to pluck up and destroy the rights to manifest in your area. As intercessors, it’s our high calling. God can do anything. He is willing if we are willing to do our part.”

“God’s heart is for souls. Through intercession, we pave the way in the Spirit for Him to do what He wants. He wants them to experience freedom from the law. Of course, there will be warfare, but souls are the goal. We want to see Jesus exalted in our state and nation. He is the only way to freedom (see John 8:36). We continue to pray for His peace that crushes all chaos.” 

Lisa clings to a promise from God, which she believes is for all intercessors and believers. This promise is in the Word of God, which she believes should be foundational for believers. 

He makes my feet like hinds’ feet And sets me upon my high places (Psalm 18:33 NASB).

She admonishes intercessors to maintain intimacy with God first and foremost. “Get to know your position in Christ. You’re seated next to Him in heavenly places. It’s here you can ascend to the high places. When you are rightly positioned in His timing, we will intersect with the perfect will of God.  We will see what He wants to happen manifest on Earth. That is the kingdom of God,” she said.

Father,

We praise you for what you are doing in Louisiana and for answering every state group’s prayer. We know that apart from You, we can do nothing. Lord, hear our prayers to see a turnaround in our state and this nation. We ask for an increase in every state group. Add people with a heart for revival and a hunger for prayer to the groups. We ask for unity in every state group and between other state prayer ministries. It’s not about us, Lord; it’s about Your kingdom. Enlarge our territory, keep Your hand upon us, and keep us from harm.

We ask for divine strategies like the one you showed Lisa. Show us where we must repent in our personal lives. Show us what sins and strongholds prevail in our city, how to pray, and what action to take. We ask for divine partnerships between city officials and prayer teams. This is nothing new. In the Bible, kings and leaders sought the prophets to hear God’s words. Let our government leaders seek out the body of Christ and open doors for the gospel to prevail. Help us go low in humility, deep in true repentance, and completely surrender to Your Spirit. We know that You can do all things, and nothing is impossible for You. We ask in Jesus’ name, amen.
