South Carolina is on the verge of passing a bill banning abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, making it the latest state to move forward with pro-life legislation.

The state legislature’s House Judiciary Committee approved the “heartbeat” bill by a nearly 2-1 margin Tuesday, teeing up the legislation for a vote on the House floor. The state senate passed the bill by a 30-13 margin with one Republican voting against the bill and one Democrat voting for it. The legislation would effectively ban abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, around the point at which a fetal heartbeat is detected, with an exception for cases of rape, incest, and the health of the mother. Pro-abortion advocates criticized the legislation for its extreme nature and alleged it would force women to give birth.

The legislation comes after President Joe Biden rescinded the Mexico City policy, which prohibited the use of taxpayer money to fund foreign organizations that provide abortion services. Biden has also endorsed using taxpayer money to pay for abortions in the United States through the repeal of the Hyde Amendment. At the state level, however, legislatures are taking action to restrict abortion access. Several deep-red states such as Alabama, Louisiana, and Kentucky have passed similar laws to South Carolina’s over the past three years but have met resistance from courts that have prevented the laws from taking effect.

South Carolina pro-life groups endorsed the bill, which found success thanks to unified Republican control of the governorship and the legislature. . . .

“Our pro-life attorney general Alan Wilson has pledged to defend the law which gives a pregnant woman the right to know her baby has a heartbeat and the right to hear the heartbeat if she so chooses,” [South Carolina Citizens for Life Executive Director Holly] Gatling said.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R) is expected to sign the legislation into law.

Like the commenters below, I too am praying for this bill to pass. And I pray Father, there will be a day soon, when NO woman would choose this as an option. Life, to be or not to be, is up to You and You alone… not an option. I pray abundant favor in all of our prayers for these tiny ones. Thank You Father, thank You Jesus, thank You Holy Spirit. Amen

Thank thee, Lord Jesus, that South Carolinians are getting closer to abolishing abortion in their state. May this law pass! May every mother who hears her baby’s heartbeat fall in love with that child. May every woman who comes for an abortion realize, to the core of her being, that abortion is murder. May these women tell all their friends, and family, and may there be a true MORAL OUTCRY against abortion in our nation, and around the world. May all people come to realize the truth that the miracle of life begins at conception. May the power of thy love, Lord Jesus, move upon these legislators of South Carolina and upon these women seeking abortions. Amen.

I went to the map and prayed for every South Carolinian Senator and Representative; also clicked on the prewritten message on the South Carolina flashing button, and sent it. Is there a way to make the “dots” turn color once they get clicked on? The previous maps did that and it was super helpful! Also, is there a way to make the state boundary lines darker? I always enlarge the map, to spread out the dots, so that I don’t miss anyone. The state lines are very faint and hard to see.

Praise You and thank you Jesus for this bill becoming law for South Carolina! I pray that this is Your Will for all United States and that this is only the beginning of a sweeping movement across our blessed nation. May it be Your Will that each State take up this cross and pass similar legislation to protect the lives of unborn babies. Let it be so, by the Blood and In Christ Jesus Name. Amen

Life begins at conception NOT after a heartbeat is detected. This bill sounds great but it doesn’t go far enough.
May the legislators and every human being on earth have a revelation of this,
“a person is being formed in the mothers womb.”
Psalm 139:13-18 tells it like it is. And the last 6 verses are important as well.
May God give all of us skillful and godly wisdom, discernment, knowledge, revelation, understanding, courage
and strength to do the right thing because it is right.
Give all children life not death, (abortion IS murder)!!
