God, we pray You would help our leaders curb wasteful spending. Guide the General Services Administration as it identifies which properties must be kept and which can be sold.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

In the newest ploy to cut back on federal spending, the General Services Administration has identified over 400 “non-core” federal properties it may dispose of, potentially saving Americans over $430 million annually.

From The Hill. The General Services Administration (GSA) on Tuesday released a list of nearly 450 federal buildings it may seek to sell ā€” including major real estate like the headquarters of the Justice Department, FBI and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, as well as federal buildings across the country.

TheĀ listĀ of 443 ā€œnon-core assetsā€ comes as GSA said it plans to ā€œdisposeā€ of some of the buildings ā€” a first step in complying with a February directive to shed government real estate. …

ā€œGSA will consider non-core assets for divestment from government ownership in an orderly fashion to ensure taxpayers no longer pay for empty and underutilized federal office space, or the significant maintenance costs associated with long-term building ownership ā€” potentially saving more than $430 million in annual operating costs,ā€ GSA said in a statement. …

Even GSAā€™s own headquarters is on the list, along with the building that houses the headquarters for the Office of Personnel Management and Department of Housing and Urban Development. …

Beyond Washington, D.C., real estate, the document proposes shuttering of federal buildings across the country, many of which house various government functions. Many are located in large cities such as Los Angeles, Detroit and Dallas. …

Wasteful spending has got to stop and this is one of many great things going on. I just pray this is done in an orderly fashion that doesn’t cause harm.

Father I ask that you give the GSA wisdom and discernment regarding the properties that they plan to sell and that a thorough investigation and background check be done on the buyer. And Father that your will be done with the properties that are sold
And those that they’re not selling.

Please grant GSA wisdom in making these decisions, so that government agencies still have adequate housing, but are streamlined and made more efficient and cost effective, Lord. If government expects us to live within our means, which is increasingly difficult to do in this economy, they should set a good example and learn to live within their means. Thank God for steps in that direction!

It is wise to let go oof unneeded property. I hope they sell for a good return and are used well for new things.

Yes. These buildings that are underutilized are old, not kept well… The government will save tons of money to manage
these buildings, which are currently not managed well: old, smell and need to be refurbished completely. LORD JESUS,
we praise you for your New mercy on these cut spending proposals to be favorably done soon!

If I were you, I would stop using The Hill as a source of information., The Hill is an anti-Trump organization disguised as a conservative news outlet and consistently use their articles to denigrate him, his administration, and his plans. I stopped watching them years ago when they took a huge shift to the left and many of their conservative reporters left the show. I love what your ministry is doing, but calling President Trump’s plan as “ploy”, which implies deception, is not what I believe you mean to say.

God bless you for what you are doing to help the church rise up in this crucial hour!

Larry, thank you for your heads-up about The Hill. We are very careful about our news sources, and take everything with a grain of salt, so to speak, from even those we do follow. We checked them out.

We know there has been considerable waste in our government and this seems like a necessary step.

Lord, We ask that your plans and purposes for our nation are carried out in every phase of this administration. Operational costs of large buildings have multiplied dramatically over the last decade, so we pray that you would give business magnates new designs to utilize these buildings for new purposes, and continue to dismember a top heavy administration. Send a new wave of Spiritual revival to our nation and let these buildings be used for your purposes. Amen
