Father, forgive our nation and heal our land. Raise up leaders to fight against this evil.

California’s Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a controversial new law regarding judges’ discretion on whether or not to add individuals to the state’s sex offender registry who have committed sodomy with minors.

Newsom signed the bill, passed by the Democratic-controlled state legislature, into law without comment on Friday, expanding the discretion granted to judges in statutory rape cases, according to ABC 7 News Los Angeles.

California law permitted judges to decide whether to place a man on the sex offender registry if he had consensual intercourse with someone 14 to 17 years old and was not more than 10 years older than the other person. However, that discretion only applied to vaginal intercourse, which LGBT advocates, including the author of the new bill signed into law Friday, argued was discriminatory toward gay men.

“This eliminates discrimination against LGBTQ youth in our criminal justice system,” the bill’s sponsor, San Francisco Democratic state Rep. Scott Wiener, said about the legislation (known as SB 145) that he proposed.

“SB 145 ends discrimination against #LGBTQ young people on the sex offender registry. Currently, these youth are forced onto the registry for consensual sex — even if a judge doesn’t think it’s appropriate — in situations where straight youth are not,” Wiener added on social media. “This discrimination destroys lives.” . . .

“I cannot in my mind as a mother understand how sex between a 24-year-old and a 14-year-old could ever be consensual, how it could ever not be a registrable offense,” Democratic Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez said when the bill was being debated in the legislature. “We should never give up on this idea that children should be in no way subject to a predator.”

Several Twitter accounts belonging to conservative politicians and personalities tweeted out criticism of Newsom following his decision to sign the bill into law.

“As a parent I’m appalled that last night our governor signed a law maintaining a 24-year-old can have sex with a 14-year-old and it not be considered predatory,” San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer tweeted. “An adult who commits ANY sex act on a minor 10 years younger must be registered a sex offender. Law must be changed.” . . .

  1. Woe to those who call evil good and good evil. Woe to those who harm children, “whose angels are always beholding the face of My Father in heaven”. Gov. Newsom signed this into law on September 11. That’s significant.

Father God, This governor and the CA legislature has committed a great evil to remove protection from our children. Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these (the children). Matthew 19:14 The audacity & shamelessness is appalling to Your people. We repent for this brazen evil. We ask that You would remove Gov. Newsom from office, along with the other legislators who voted in favor of this. I fear for California. Sept. 18 is Rosh Hashanah, the Feast of Trumpets, a day marked by the sound of the trumpets. The sound of the trumpets is an alarm to warn of the coming judgement. Have mercy upon us, O God!

  2. It’s hard to believe that a father of small children and a governor (Newson)would sign a bill to reduce Penalties for PEDOPHILES. He doesn’t even care about the harm this could lead to for his own children. It seems he enjoys flaunting EVIL as much as he can on the people of Calif. He will pay for this someday. Please continue to work diligently on getting him recalled.

  3. I’m from California, but I’m not a liberal. I’m a conservative, and my spiritual beliefs are Christian. Gavin Newsom should be removed from office immediately, and this evil new law must be repealed! Right now, there is a petition circulating in California to recall Gavin Newsom. If you haven’t signed the petition, please do so. I plan to sign it immediately. Gavin Newsom is an evil man, and he has absolutely no business being in office. California has been in a liberal mess for far too long, and he is only making matters worse. It’s time to start making positive changes for California. Let’s start by recalling Gavin Newsom!

  4. As a Nurse and Mandated Reporter, the most heartbreaking calls I have to make are to DCF where a pregnant teen has a boyfriend 3 yrs older than her. We have so many resources to support them but when DCF, who has not been making home visits since COVID referres these cases to the police the couple feels betrayed, and seek no more assistance.

  5. Father, our hearts weep with yours over the sins of our nation and we cry out for mercy.

May your righteous justice prevail against this legislated evil. We wrestle not with flesh and blood but with the principalities and powers over the Golden state of California. Release your angel armies to sweep through the land and expose the strategies of the evil one. Bring conviction to the hearts of men, leading to godly repentance and repeal of every perverse law. Establish righteous justice, law and order, and peace throughout the land. Protect the innocence and purity of our children and our nation.

May your Kingdom come to earth through flames of revival. Awaken hearts, draw mankind to yourself – for your hand is not too short to set a table in the wilderness. Let troubled souls look up, let their ears hear, their eyes see, and their hearts believe that Jesus Christ is the Way the Truth and the Life, there is no other. For your will is that none shall perish but all shall come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen

  6. Dear Heavenly Father,
Bless those who are in CA who want to challenge this law. Bring the law into notoriety and let the public view it as obscene. I pray for its demise and for godliness to prevail.
Bring Gov Newsom face to face with his responsibility to rule his people with biblical justice, not trying to be fair to offenders.
In Jesus name and the power of his blood. Amen.
