Heavenly Father, we lift up Tiffany to You and ask for You to be with her and her family. If it be Your will, heal her completely but most importantly bring her to know You.

A high school football player has been praised for his compassion after stopping to pray with an opponent after their game. Texas players Gage Smith and Ty Jordan were pictured kneeling down together in prayer following the game between Sherman and Mesquite High Schools.
Smith reportedly asked Jordan if he could pray with him after learning that his mother had stage 4 lung and bone cancer.

“It was meant for just me and him to have a moment and to pray over his family and for his mom,” Smith told TODAY. “I just wanted to let him know there are other people thinking about him and his family, and let him know he has somebody to turn to.”

An incredible image of the pair kneeling on the football field seeking the Lord together was snapped by the wife of Smith’s head coach, before being passed on to Jordan’s aunt Takka. Takka then posted the photo to Facebook where it went viral. According to ABC 8 News, the photo received more than 140,000 shares before Takka removed it from public view on Tuesday.

Smith was astonished that the photo had gotten so much attention. He told ABC 8 News, “To see that it blew up I was very surprised by it, and I wasn’t expecting it to be like that you know, I was just doing it for him and doing it for his mom and his family.”

Ty’s mother Tiffany Jordan, told TODAY that seeing the photo made her “speechless.”

“It made me cry,” She continued, “[Smith] didn’t have to do that. The fact that he took the time to pray with Ty for me, that took my breath away.”

Sherman won the regular-season game 56-27, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

“I would’ve done that whether we would’ve won or lost,” Smith said. “During the game we’re enemies and we’re gonna play and try to win the game, but you still have that respect for the other opponent. I wanted to do that for him.

Coach J.D. Martinez praised Smith’s actions calling him a “true leader” who is full of compassion.

  1. How incredible to see these young men kneeling on the field. Beautiful. I agree for healing in Tiffany’s body and most of all that she is in relationship with Jesus. May God birth a friendship between these two young men and may they be mighty for Him!

Romans 1:12 “I know that when we come together something beautiful happens as we are encouraged by each other’s faith”.

  2. It only takes a spark to ignite a flame. Seeing the two of you kneeling has touched our hearts! Ty we will continue to pray for your mom with you and Gage. Give God all the glory

  3. Oh LORD, thank You for Your goodness and mercy that follows us wherever we go!
Thank You that these 2 young men
representing different sides, teams, but can come humbly united before Almighry God. These two young student athletes are examples for all of us. LORD this is an example of one nation under God. Thank You LORD for being over US!

  4. Thank you Lord for showing your love and compassion for all of us through the actions of these two young men. This is a glimpse of what the world would be like if everyone loved you Lord. AMEN

  5. FATHER, I THANK YOU THAT THIS YOUNG MAN IS GIVING GLORY TO GOD IN THE MIDST OF ENTERTAINMENT. FOR WE SHOULD NOT BE ASHAMED OF THE RELATIONSHIP THAT WE HAVE WITH OUR FATHER GOD. MAY HIS EXAMPLE ENCOURAGE MORE OF US TO STAND UP FOR WHAT WE BELIEVE….NOW…. I along with others pray that Ty’s Mother will be healed and the story of her healing will go World Wide…Thank you, Gage and Ty for not being ashamed to pray boldly at a game. More prayers…Amen

  6. What that young man did touched my heart and I’m sure it did God’s too. Lord Jesus thank You for the compassion and willingness to pray by these two young men. May their heartfelt prayers reach the throne of grace and this be a good example for others. Amen

  7. Amen! And it is so encouraging that many have seen this beautiful picture of Humility. It has sown many seeds of the Love and Light of our Savior Jesus. Praises to you Father for these young men, their families, and all who brought this moment to light.
We thank You that much healing, both for now and eternity will result.

  8. HALLELUJAH!! In any interaction, especially with supposed “rivals,” this picture of these young men expresses the heart-posture every Christian should have —bringing the LORD JESUS, The Anointed Son of GOD to the very forefront. Bless you, Gage, Ty and Ty’s mother. Continue manifesting GOD’s goodness to the world. That’s the only way to live, defeating darkness at every turn by revealing the light of GOD’s glorious LOVE.
