After winning the gold medal and setting a world record Tuesday night in the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics, U.S. track star Sydney McLaughlin has responded via social media to her …fans…by thanking God.
In a post to Instagram on Thursday, the devout Christian wrote a message of “submission and obedience to God,” and included an image showing her draped in an American flag after her victory…
“Just because I may not win every race, or receive every one of my heart’s desires, does not mean God had failed. His will is PERFECT,” she noted…
Thousands of McLaughlin’s followers have left messages of love and encouragement…
One follower left this message: “Amazing!! You are a true light. Thank you Heavenly Father for allowing me to come across a sister in Christ who so faithfully serves. We are called to Love one another and rejoice in God. It’s as simple as that!”

I praise you Lord for Sydney Mc Laughlin giving glory for her success in the Olympic. Lord Jesus, please protect her for the attacks of the evil one. Lord, please, use her testimony for you glory, that many of her peers, friends and loved ones will come to you. May those who watched her and do not belong be drawn unto you, find you and accept you as personal Savior. To You< O Lord, be honor, glory, power and victory for ever and ever!
You go girl. You are an example of what American athletes should be. Those who have to denigrate America are not recognizing that America has given them opportunity. They are on the world stage ONLY because American, by the grace of God, gave them the opportunity.
Praise God for athletes like Sydney! What a true inspiration and an example for all people. Psalm 84:11 says “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly”. Thank you Sydney for the hope you put in me that there are athletes that truly represent the real prize!
