Intercessors For America was founded with a mandate of prayer for America’s leaders, specifically for those in government. After fifty years, the call to intercede still stands and seems more important now than ever. IFA often highlights how God responds to the faithful intercession of state prayer groups, conferences, and Policy and Prayer gatherings, frequently opening doors for connection to elected officials. These are God’s stories, but also yours. When you pray, know that your engagement and intercession matter.

Tennessee has been seeing answers to prayer with legislation and exposure; however, it was a State Representative who took the initiative. In 2024, Tennessee Freshman Representative Monty Fritts was the primary impetus behind the House Joint Resolution to make July a month of fasting and prayer, and it overwhelmingly passed. “To get a House Joint resolution to pass when the Democratic and Republican parties are deeply at odds with one another was miraculous in itself,” said IFA Tennessee State Leader, Vaughn Cassidy.

‘It was Representative Fritts and his wife, Denise, who decided to get a prayer meeting in every single courthouse county seat in Tennessee, and there are 95 counties. They went county by county, and there were numerous significant interactions. He said. Rep. Monty went to virtually all of them.  Vaughn was also able to attend some of these. 

Can we praise God for a freshman representative and his wife, who led the way for a month of fasting and prayer, but also wanted prayer meetings, county by county? This is why we pray for our leaders. What was accomplished in Tennessee wasn’t just miraculous; it provided a template. Likewise, on May 1, 2025, a proclamation for fasting and prayer was made in Alabama. In July, Louisiana’s governor proclaimed a month of fasting and prayer. This is what America needs, and I pray that one day all fifty states will have this.

Rep. Fritts became aware of the IFA Tennessee State Prayer Group when his secretary told him about IFA. Rep. Fritts attended a Gatekeepers Conference in Louisiana last year, where he attended with a few core members of the Tennessee prayer team. Since then, Rep. Fritts has been on several Tennessee prayer calls along with Terry and Barbie Franklin of the Pray4TN ministry.

In 2025, Pray4TN, a prayer ministry focused on fasting, repentance, and prayer, was led by Terry and Barbie Franklin. They also joined together several times to pray with IFA Tennessee, coordinating people hungry for God to be leaders in the counties. They organized prayer meetings for the county seats. When different prayer streams come together in unity, it’s a beautiful thing.

Praise Reports

“Things happened quickly in Tennessee after our Gatekeepers Conference. Our Attorney General Skrmetti led the way on many things. There was a landmark decision made to protect children from the transgender delusion. It is now against the law to attempt transition surgery on minors, even with parental consent.” Thank you, Jesus, for hearing the prayers of intercessors to protect children.

Tennessee refused to comply with the World Health Organization. The highly contested SB263 took effect on July 1, 2025. The federal government cannot command states to enforce laws with which the states disagree. This is a massive praise, as many Americans recognize the evil agenda of the WHO. This also led the way for 21 states that want something similar. “We are continually praying for Tennessee to lead the way,”  Vaughn said.

“There have been a lot of defense mechanisms with our prayer group that are delaying actions. We believe this is giving us time for the culture to turn around, and that is what we are praying for. Our IFA Tennessee State Prayer Group consistently prays for exposure. We want God to reveal the darkness, and He is exposing it. People need to know how bad things are. When a patient has cancer, it must be exposed before it can be removed. That’s why we pray for God to expose and reveal, so we can pray for the unrighteous to lose that seat of influence. 

We count coup a little differently here in Tennessee. We see it as an unraveling of the lie. For example, the Smithsonian had an exhibit about President Trump’s impeachment, and it was removed as it was recognized as a sham. This has never happened before. This is a big deal! This is an answered prayer. It says the culture will not control the narrative,”  Vaughn said. 

Vaughn received an invitation to the Culture in Christianity Conference, hosted by World Outreach Church, led by bold Pastor Alan Jackson. His secretary called Vaughn and said, “We hear that you are interested in the conference. We know what you are all trying to do in Tennessee, and we would like to extend an invitation.”

Continued Prayer Targets for Tennessee

Tennessee, like every state, has its prayer focus. “We are praying against a spirit of assassination that has been assigned to this nation. It’s meant to keep people intimidated by threats of shooting and death. We also pray a lot about the LGBTQ Marxism being taught, against the idea that the family reproduces capitalism. This is not to say that every member of that community supports Marxism. Some are just confused and have lost their sense of identity. But some have fully embraced Marxism. Even many Democrats boast about being more Marxist than others. It’s insane, it’s purity spiraling.” Vaughn said.  We pray for the continued unraveling of their minds. The Bible says in Romans 1:28 that God gave them over to a reprobate mind.”

Last year, Vaughn told Rep. Fritts, We are going to pray every single day in July for 2025. “I was reminded of the parable of the unjust judge and the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-7. The unjust judge relented and granted the widow her request because of her continual asking. She would not give up, and God says, How much more shall I give justice to my elect who cry out day and night?  We are continuing to pursue His justice. So we continue to intercede and believe in God for justice.”

Vaughn had the opportunity to ask Rep. Fritts, “What can we do for you?” and he said, “Ask for more. Ask God to pour it out. Ask for more of His Spirit to be with us, come down and pour out on us.”  This is a state representative saying this. Isn’t that beautiful? Vaughn posed an important question: “How do you get people like Monty Fritts and spirit-filled people like you and me to serve in public office?

We need to continually intercede for people like Monty Fritts and other spirit-filled believers to take their place in office.

Pray for Jonahs who are called by God to run for office but are afraid because it is not an easy job. It comes with pressure, warfare, slander, and attacks. If it were easy, everyone would do it. 

Pray for those like David, who was tending sheep when he was anointed and called. God knows where to find his people, but we must pray for them. 

I asked Vaughn what he thought about what God is doing in Tennessee and the nation, and he said, He thinks of the word encyclopedia, the second half of the word ‘Paedia’, which refers to learning. “As a tribe, people, or nation, we must know why we are here and why we exist. Why are we doing this? The US has forgotten why it exists, because it jettisoned God. We are bringing paedia back. We are coming back to purpose; everything is turning around. The communist Left is the modern-day Tower of Babel. It fails because it’s man’s ways versus God’s way. Paedia means we are taking this nation back.”

I pray this encourages you. There are government leaders who honor God while serving in office. There are government leaders who covet prayer as much as we do. Some states are standing and fighting back against unjust federal laws, and God is answering. But it begins with us. We pray for godly elected leaders to run and win. They obey God and enforce biblical values, and we reap the benefits as listed in scripture.

First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered for everyone— for kings and all those in authority so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4).

The answers to prayers, petitions, and intercession always come from God in response to our prayers and obedience. Let hope arise!

Father, we thank you for what you are accomplishing through unified intercession. Thank you for the ways you are answering prayers and waking up the people. Give us a fighting spirit that all may know if God is for us, who can be against us? We will continue to stand in the gap for our states and nation until we see Your kingdom come and will be done on Earth as it is in heaven, in Jesus’ name, amen.
