Gen Z fights Spiritual Battle in PA before a radical abortion bill vote
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025 the PA House of Representatives voted on a radical abortion bill which would codify abortion into the state Constitution and allow abortion up to birth.

PA State Representative Stephanie Borowicz called for 3 days of fasting ahead of the vote and for a time of prayer, praise and worship in the Capitol Rotunda from 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. the day of the vote.
Pastor Stephen Coleman of Calvary Baptist Church in Harrisburg opened in prayer. A group of Gen Zers from Crossroads Church in Jersey Shore led in the Holy Spirit filled time of praise and worship. This group of young people led by Andy Hamelly, Student Ministry Director, is a part of Representative Borowicz’s church where her husband is the lead pastor. Andy stated, “We are blessed to be here and fight a spiritual battle ahead of what is about to take place.” They group led worship singing songs including: “Silent Night”, “Holy Forever”, “Who Else Is Worthy”, “Raise A Hallelujah”, and “Away In A Manger”.
The sounds of their beautiful voices and instruments reverberated throughout the Rotunda and halls of the Capitol building. A crowd gathered to pray and praise in an act of spiritual warfare to defend precious unborn babies. Visitors to the Capitol walking by often stopped to listen as well as those in the upper balconies. A very striking sight of those stopping to listen occurred when a group of students on a tour paused to listen. What was so striking was that the group included 3 young women wearing burkas and 2 wearing hijabs.
It was a powerful and prophetic moment as Jesus’ name was glorified in the midst of these young women caught in the grips of Islam. One of the young ladies in the group who was not Islamic was singing along to “Raise A Hallelujah”. Moments later a group of young woman, who had been watching and listening, walked by several of whom were singing along.
Devastatingly, the vote passed in the house 102 yes to 101 no with two Republicans voting yes to this horrendous bill which will now pass to the Senate to be voted upon.
None the less, our Lord was magnified in that time of worship and we will not stop beseeching our Lord on behalf of the most vulnerable.
Following the worship time, Emma, Justice, Kana, Audrie, Ava and Liam sat down with me to answer some interview questions. Their answers were inspiring yet convicting, but hopeful. When asked what they feel is the greatest threat to Gen Z with regards to the fight for life in the womb they shared their fear of rejection and the suffering of standing up for the unborn. Another shared that the devaluing of the word of God has caused us to look at human life as cells and biology rather than holy image bearers of God.
In answer to the question of how to overcome the fear of rejection and the devaluing of human life one responded that it is up to Gen Z to reach out to other Gen Zers and meet them at their level, to use their experience to relate to their peer group and share the word of God with them in order to foster a better world view on these topics and issues.
When asked from where the devaluing of human life comes, it was offered that much of it comes from the public government run schools who evicted God from every aspect of the institution. Inflation and the cost of living was offered as causes of the devaluing of human life because people feel they simply cannot afford to have children. Another perspective shared is that much of Gen Z puts their identity in sexuality instead of putting their identity in Jesus Christ. The perspective of Mary, the mother of God and how she must have felt being a young woman not ready to have a baby, yet God chose her to birth the Savior of the world was also shared. It was expressed that social media is a big culprit for spreading lies and deception.
When asked what they are seeing amongst Gen Z with regards to spirituality, one member stated there is a hunger for meaning but confusion on where to find that meaning. Another offered that social media touts those who are Christ followers as having a religious psychosis which can cause Gen Z to question their faith. In addition, those that find their identities in Christ are often treated as outcasts. The sense that there is a great search for answers and objective truth along with a concern that Christianity can be a trend instead of true faith was a perspective that was also offered. Being hurt by those claiming to be Christians yet doing something evil was offered as a perspective of why some do not become believers or stray from the faith.
When asked how the martyrdom of Charlie Kirk has affected them and their peer group, a resounding sense that they need to stand up, be bold, outward and expressive was offered. Another stated that the death of Charlie Kirk showed that the battle is real, that the enemy is taking actual steps and that we, as believers, must fight back by speaking truth over this nation and not backing down. Using the gifts that God gave to them to do spiritual battle is vital to bringing this nation back to God.
The time with these Gen Z’ers was fascinating, humbling and encouraging. They so need our fervent prayers and covering. In the darkest of days where we are fighting to save God’s most prized creation, comes a light from the generation coming behind us. God richly bless them and keep them. In the words of Steve Green, “May those who come behind us find us faithful.”

thank you Holy Father for leaving a remnant of Your people !!!! Please protect these teens & unborn in the world & PA
Dear Father, We pray in the name of Jesus that this ghastly amendment will not be passed by the PA Senate. We repent for those representatives who voted against life, and we pray your strong conviction on each one of them, regardless of their religious affiliation. Please bless the young people with continued courage and motivation to stand for LIFE. Please give us older citizens the motivation to participate in our government, and to pray for our government and our young people. Please send repentance and revival to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in Jesus’ name. AMEN.
