I Prayed have prayed
Lord, You are moving and stirring others to move. I want to be a part of what you are doing. Show me where I can get connected.

IFA has kept up with the event called March for Jesus, a yearly movement with a necessary mission. The goal of every one of these marches is divine-presence-driven and never political. On Pentecost weekend each year, cities and nations see people gather in the streets to proclaim and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in a bold display of exuberant worship.

This year, more cities have signed up than in previous years, and some countries did too. Healings, conversions, and other works of grace have been reported, though we cannot know the full scope of what God has done. One thing is certain: The March For Jesus has become a catalyst and a prototype for other ministries. Several other cities that did not officially sign up are nonetheless hosting a March for Jesus. Marches continue now, and we should praise God for this. After all, anytime people come together in unity to exalt Jesus is a blessing — something we can and should get behind.

I’ve heard reports from Jackson, Tennessee, about people coming out of their homes to join the procession, despite the fact that the city had experienced heavy rainfall the previous night. Due to the weather, the numbers were smaller than anticipated, and yet the atmosphere was supercharged with faith and expectancy. Police officers and firefighters were prayed over, and others who received prayer received Christ as Savior. These marches have proved to be successful at connecting pastors, ministries, and businesses. The impact has been wonderful and has produced some much needed fruit.

The March for Jesus began in the U.S. in the early 1990s and has branched out. I was pleased to hear the story an evangelist from the Netherlands who became involved and has hopes of training others to do the same. Evangelist Rami Sam is accustomed to doing outreaches of all kinds and to preaching the Gospel wherever the Lord sends him. When the Lord called him to march in the streets, he didn’t know what to expect, but he obeyed. During a 2022 outreach in Amsterdam, the Lord instructed Rami to pack his bags and go to another place in the city. He and two others did go, and as soon as they stepped from the tram, they sensed the Lord saying: “I want you to do a march for Jesus.”

Rami began preaching that Jesus is King and calling for people to repent. This happened at a very busy location filled with tourists and commuters. Hundreds and maybe thousands heard the Gospel that day. Rami was able to use the sound system of an evangelist friend who happened to be in that same place.

“I clearly heard the Holy Spirit instruct me to organize five marches for Jesus in the Netherlands,” he said. “In the following weeks, the Lord gave me a blueprint on how to do this, step by step. One of the marches was in a city called Utrecht. During that march, we saw salvation at an incredible rate. We invited many people to come and walk with us, but only six showed up, because of the heavy rain that day. I fought against discouragement, even though six people with the Lord is an army. As we marched on this street and turned right, 40 people from the satanic church and members of the LGBTQ community were gathered there, and we could sense the opposition.”

Rami and his team continued to praise and worship God, and then he preached Jesus. “Walls came down, one after another,” Rami said. “Many young people opened their hearts to Jesus.”

I asked Rami what sorts of miracles he had seen in all those outreaches and marches. “We saw physical healings, but more mental healings,” he replied. “Depression was being broken off of people. People were crying and asking how to get saved, and salvation is the greatest miracle of all.”

Rami felt led to go to five cities and march. “If I had not obeyed God with only those three people, maybe God wouldn’t have given me a plan,” Rami said. “The Lord wants our obedience. Because I said yes, He gave me a team, a blueprint, everything I needed. I Googled ‘March for Jesus’ and connected with Pastor Gary Frost and sent him an email. After receiving an email from Pastor Frost, all hell broke loose at my work; the devil was angry because I said yes to God. Pastor Gary kept in touch and helped me and sent me everything I needed so I could begin the work.

“I knew we would have challenges here in the Netherlands. I knew it would be difficult to connect people, because even though Christians desire unity and pray for this, in reality, many Christians are still hiding behind their church walls and are not connecting with people from other denominations. Also, over here, if you are not a well-known preacher or have a big ministry, some churches do not take you seriously and are hesitant to work with you. I know I was sent by the Lord to do this march, but for some people, this still is not enough.

“So far, we have been doing smaller marches. The biggest one so far had 60 people. Three weeks ago, we did a March for Jesus — it was pure worship and praise. We shouted the name of Jesus, and the whole street stopped to see what we were doing.”

Of course, these marches don’t come without setbacks. For example, a march was set for July 8. Preparations had been made for three months, but the event was canceled.

“It was discouraging, but the Lord has a plan,” Rami said. “We will not quit working and praising God. This march is a movement. People need to see it’s not about numbers. Honor the Lord with the small, and He will bless it and do big things with it.”

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand … ” (Zechariah 4:10 NLT).

Rami sees great things ahead, through the eyes of faith.

“We are entering the biggest harvest ever,” he said. “Young people will be saved. God needs us united: seniors and all ages in between. It’s time to join hands together for the harvest. It’s not about ‘revival’ anymore — it’s about salvation, and the fields are ripe. God is opening doors. There are more marches planned in Holland. I’ve spoken with people from South Africa, Romania, and a brother from Germany. We are seeing how the marches and days of celebration will work here in Holland, so that we can teach and train others. On July 29, we are celebrating Jesus during a time of worship, but this is only the beginning of what God is doing.”

Beyond the marches, Rami’s ministry is moving through Amsterdam in boats, worshiping God over the waters. Thank You, Jesus, for the obedience of pastors, evangelists, and all believers who are saying yes to God.

Can you see how God is moving?

A pastor from Tennessee who remembers the marches in the ’90s recalls when those marches began to dwindle. He also saw the numbers decrease during COVID, but recent reports are for him as if a fresh wind from heaven has reignited the flames. The Lord takes what the Enemy intends for evil and He turns it around for His own glory and for our good. Roughly two years ago, the COVID pandemic shut down many churches and threatened to rob us of our voice. Well, the Church is waking up now and saying, enough! She’s fulfilling the Great Commission.

My own city had a March for Jesus, and it was wonderful — and it has not ended. Out of that march, weekly prayer and worship gatherings began happening in public places. Churches are beginning to unite throughout the city. And this is happening across Texas under the leadership of Holy Spirit. Fellow IFA writers and prayer leaders Rich and Joyce Swingle are covering “Let Us Worship,” which brings worship and prayer into our state’s capitals, and they are also praying on-site wherever the Lord leads. IFA is launching statewide Policy & Prayer gatherings at which you can get involved and connect with others within your state to pray on-site.

God is moving — will you move with Him? What was once a yearly march has become a catalyst. It’s no longer just a march; it has become your invitation to get involved in what God is doing right now. Don’t wait for “the right time” — because the time is now!

Father, we thank You for what You are doing in our time. You are waking up Your Church. You are preparing us for Your great harvest. We pray that just as You spoke to Rami, You will speak to us. You are always speaking, help us to listen to Your still, small voice. Fill us with boldness and courage to answer the call. We want to do whatever You want us to do, but we know this begins with our obedience. Grant us softened, willing hearts that desire only to do Your will. We sense  that You are stirring Your Church. You are moving, and we want to be a part of that. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Gloria, I appreciate you reading and responding to the comments!! Sometimes I wonder, especially when I’m not among the first to post comments, whether anyone reads them or they simply disappear into cyberspace. I recognize that prayers are simply that, and may not need any response except to agree or not to agree with the stated prayer. But your responses help me to trust that perhaps the comments are read and considered prayerfully. Some are very insightful and further instruct me in how to pray. Some may be disturbing, but are also informative as to how IFA intercessors may be responding or reacting – and thus, how to pray for them.

The comments are read, we just often do not get to respond to each and every one. Thank you for Your prayers.

I remember getting to participate in March for Jesus back in the 90’s in MO – a wonderful experience! Glad to know it continues, although we just relocated this year and are not aware of a local March for Jesus. LORD, may You unite Your church to fill the atmosphere of our cities and towns with Your praise and worship – with signs and wonders following.

I live in Woodbury TN. I am part of a women’s prayer group. We meet Saturday mornings and the Lord ALWAYS shows up. Our county is Cannon County. We have started Cannon County Christians United. CCU as we call it. Our goal is to unite the churches in our community to share Christ in the whole county by loving on, praying with, and being part of each others lives. Our first event was in September of 2022, Restore the Fire. It was a March for Jesus and a service on the square of praise and worship and preaching. Right now, we have 2 churches involved strongly and 2 loosely. We want all churches to help. It is encouraging to see this going on everywhere. Praise be to Jesus!
