Heavenly Father, we ask that the Equality Act will be defeated.

The Equality Act, a bill that would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” as protected classes under federal civil rights law, would be “catastrophic” for Christians and churches if it becomes law, evangelist Franklin Graham warned.

Graham, in a recent op-ed for Decision Magazine, warned that the bill, which was introduced by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in March, would grant the same protections afforded to racial minorities and women under the Civil Rights Act to the LGBTQ community, causing significant legal problems for Christians who hold a biblical worldview….

Take action! Let your Senators know you oppose the Equality Act.

“The progressive, Democratic-controlled House of Representatives has already passed this atrocious bill, and only the Republican-controlled Senate and the president stand in its way. If the Senate majority changes or if enough Republican senators change their position, it would be up to the president to veto the bill. And if that office were to change hands in 2020, I have little doubt this would become the law of the land,” Graham said.

“This legislation will have catastrophic consequences for competitive sports, along with churches and faith-based nonprofits who would lose all protections to hire people who adhere to their Biblical statements of faith. Christians will be persecuted for their sincerely held beliefs as never before. The clear teachings of the Bible on the sins of homosexuality and abortion will no doubt be considered ‘hate speech.’ It will be a nightmare from which this nation may never recover,” he warned…. (Excerpts from The Christian Post article by Leonardo Blair)

  1. Why did abortion come into Franklin’s article? It seems as if the message of the church is squarely stuck on two issues, abortion and gay rights. Why have we lost our central mission to introduce others to Christ?

Franklin has confused Christianity with politics. It is no wonder considering his dad supported Nixon.

    1. Please consider the activities of Samaritan’s Purse – very actively sharing Christ in the US and around the world. It is not unreasonable that among the many things a Christian says are things that address anti-Christian issues. We are supposed to reach out to the world. I haven’t run across any verses that say I am supposed to embrace the sinful worldliness. We are to protect the helpless – how does that not include the unborn? Your reply does not address the effect of promoting flexibly defined gender/ sexual orientation on protection of religious freedom.

      1. Maria

I am simply pointing out that christianity is becoming more about politics than spiritual redemption.

Religious freedom should apply to all regardless of their particular beliefs.

Again, Franklin gets more “traction ” by being political than by being religious. His father, Billy, was invited into the political arena to motivate evangelicals for a political end. Much like a union boss is tasked with controlling and motivating union members for political action.

        So much for religious “freedom”.

  2. A true Christian tries to live life as Jesus did by example. Remember Jesus stated that you are not to judge others, you should love thy neighbor, and the GOD is love. Yet, most “Christian’s today do just the opposite.

  3. Lord God, I lift You up on high. God, it’s Your will that all men come to the saving knowledge of You. I pray that Your believers continue to fight against the spirit of confusion that has crept in and stolen the hearts of those who have join communities that live contrary to Your will. May the Church continue to stand up and show and demonstrate Your love and pray for healing of those who look at the Church as the enemy. The true enemy is satan and his fallen angels. Let God be true and every man a liar. In Jesus Precious and Holy name. Amen

  4. Dear Lord thank You for everything. Thank You for prayer. Lord I pray that Your will be done on this issue. Lord forgive us because we don’t know what we are doing. Too many too often act too inappropriately. Call to You and repentance. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

  5. Father,
My soul cries out to you. It is hard to comprehend that we are fighting such a battle in our country. I confess that it is hard to even know where to begin to pray about this horrible legislation. We are already witnessing some devastating consequences of this thinking in libraries with young children, in homes where there are children turning against their own bodies and then as a result, their parents. We see men ,claiming to be women, participating in sports against women and always winning. We see women claiming to be men giving birth then wanting to be on the birth certificate as the father. We see businesses being decimated for not being willing to participate in the lie. Lord Jesus, I lift this whole tangled mess to you.
Forgive our nation Lord. Many of our leaders are participating in leading this nation down a dark road. We are reaping the consequences of walking away from you as a nation. We have told you that you aren’t welcome in the schools and now they are breading grounds for this type of thinking and behavior. Our nation’s children have been taught there is no purpose and there is no God to know and love and obey and we are beginning to see where this leads. Forgive us for letting this happen. But now we are at this crossroads. Please raise up a mighty army of people who will pray and refuse to bow to this corrupt agenda. Please call churches to gather for prayer in utter dependence on you. Help us to pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit and to stay alert and be persistent in our prayers for all Christians everywhere. And having done all to stand- remembering that our battle is with the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world. In the name of the One who is Holy, Righteous and True- our Lord Jesus.
