Most believers know we have entered a spiritual battle when we say yes to Jesus. Intercessors may know this to be valid on a deeper level. The Enemy of our souls, our adversary Satan, hates intercession because it foils and exposes his plans. He hates intercessors because we commit to standing in the gap for people and nations and seeing God’s plans and purposes fulfilled. It can be daunting and exhausting sometimes, but what a delight it is to know that we are invited to come boldly before the throne of grace. If you have felt weary from the battle, let me encourage you. God is hearing our prayers. Here are some praise reports from IFA’s Florida State Prayer Group.

Abortion Rates Decline in Florida

IFA Florida State Leader Anita Lynott has led this group for three years. Though she could share many reports, she shared the most recent victories they have seen. Florida Right to Life reported, “Florida’s abortion total dropped an incredible 28% after the Heartbeat Law (SB 300) took effect on May 1, 2024.” According to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration, there were 60,755 abortions in 2024, declining from 84,052 in 2023.” That is 23,297 lives that were saved! The number of non-Floridians who got abortions in Florida last year fell 51% to 3,754, the data shows. Jesse Scheckner of Florida Politics reported, “That was the first decline in five years.” 

Can we praise God for the lives saved in Florida due to the passing of SB 300 and the countless hours of intercession for life in Florida? Matthew 7:7-8 says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” The answers to prayer come because God is faithful in keeping His word. He wants us to come boldly to His throne of grace in times of need personally and nationally (see Hebrews 4:16). Thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayers!

But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God (Luke 18:16 ESV). 

Here are several answers to prayer and a testimony of how God is protecting children.

• Pornhub ended its tawdry services in Florida on Jan. 1 in a protest of the state’s new age-verification law.
• Florida now has one of the country’s most restrictive social media bans for minors. Gov. DeSantis signed HB3: Online Protections for Minors, legislation banning children under 14 in the state from having social media accounts and requiring minors aged 14 and 15 to have parental consent to hold one. The bill went into effect in January 2025 and forces social media companies to delete existing accounts held by those aged 14 and under.
• The Satanic Temple is vowing to fight back against a new Florida policy that allows schools to have chaplains to provide support for troubled children. Governor DeSantis says the Satanic Temple will not be allowed to participate in the new chaplain program for government schools.
• An appeals court panel has ruled that Florida can enforce a state law prohibiting doctors from performing cosmetic sex change surgeries or prescribing puberty blockers to minors younger than 18.
• Plus, Florida passed several bills designed to protect children and combat crimes against them:
  • House Bill 1545: Innovative measures to target predators.
  • House Bill 1131: A grant program for “To Catch a Predator” style sting operations to hunt down groomers in Florida.
  • House Bill 1235: Enhancing Sex Offender Registration.
  • Senate Bill 1224: Empowering Guardians and Law Enforcement.
  • House Bill 305: Expanding evidence in sex abuse cases.

Amendments to defend abortion, as well as legalizing recreational weed, were thwarted. New Senate Bills were passed protecting Florida from the effects of illegal immigration. God is moving, and it’s all because we intercede.

• Florida Amendment 4, the right-to-abortion initiative, did not pass in Florida.
• Florida Amendment 3, which sought to legalize recreational weed for adults, did not pass.
• Florida has the strongest illegal immigration legislation in the nation. SB1036 passed and increased the penalties for illegal re-entry into Florida. 
• Florida’s Community ID Bill HB 1451 restricts access to government-issued IDs to deter illegal immigration. 

Many may remember when a Category 5 hurricane threatened Florida in 2024. As a coastal state, Florida sees many storms; however, Hurricane Milton appeared rapidly as Floridians were recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Helene. Just weeks after Helene, Milton appeared as a Category 5. Intercessors for America held a 24-hour prayer line to intercede with Florida. Different states and intercessors all over the nation prayed, and God heard the prayers. Florida was spared from a disaster that would have been much worse than Hurricane Helene. 

These are but a few praiseworthy reports from Florida. However, IFA has a group in all 50 states. If you do not have a prayer group you are a part of, we invite you to join us. If you have the heart to see God exalted in our nation and government and to see godly people in office promoting biblical values, join the family of people with a burden just like yours. If you are sick of injustice and pray to see justice and righteousness prevail, you are probably an intercessor. We invite you to find your state group and join prayer calls. From there, you will have opportunities to connect with members and even meet and pray for your state representatives.

Father, 

We thank you for hearing our prayers and for opening the heavens to us because of Jesus. 

We praise You for saving the lives of babies in Florida and for leaders who have implemented measures to protect children. Your word says in 1 Timothy that we are to intercede for those in authority with petitions, supplications, and thanksgiving. We know that You are responsible for every answered prayer, so we thank You for hearing our intercession for our leaders and nation. We thank You for the Florida leaders who sign and legislate for righteousness. They are a blessing.

Lord, I want to see what you are doing in Florida in my state too. Help me find my place among like-minded intercessors praying for revival, justice, and righteousness. There is nothing too hard for You, Lord. I want to see Your kingdom come and Your will be done in America as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name, amen.
