Feds Detain Twice‑Deported Killer After Early Sanctuary Release
Federal authorities have taken into custody Oscar Eduardo Ortega‑Anguiano, a twice‑deported illegal alien who had been convicted in California for the 2021 DUI deaths of 19‑year‑olds Anna Varfolomeeva and Nicholay Osokin.
Post a prayer for your state!
Ortega‑Anguiano, reportedly drunk, high, and speeding at 100 mph, caused the fatal crash that burned the couple alive. Convicted on two counts of vehicular manslaughter, he received a 10‑year state sentence—but California’s early release policies allowed him out after just 3½ years.
His criminal record also includes earlier felonies: grand theft and car theft in 2005, and false imprisonment in 2014. After being deported in 2016 and again in 2018, Ortega‑Anguiano illegally reentered the U.S.
With his 2025 early release imminent, federal prosecutors intervened, charging him under 8 U.S.C. 1326 for reentry after deportation—an offense punishable by up to 10 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli sharply criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom, stating the state “let down the victims’ families” by enabling this premature release.
This case highlights a clash between sanctuary state policies, like California’s SB 54, which limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement, and federal efforts to ensure accountability for serious crimes committed by illegal immigrants. Critics argue that sanctuary policies allow dangerous offenders to evade justice, prompting federal intervention. The case is seen by many conservatives as emblematic of the need for stricter immigration and criminal policies to prevent repeat-offender tragedies.

Being of an “ over 80” age, I react to hearing of so called immigration problems! Unbelief that this has been so abused and at myself who, raised in a home with law enforcement parents, I didn’t stay aware of this .
Those coming illegally are not showing the respect for law, causing safety issues for us, the citizens, and those who worked hard to enter the USA legally.
They studied the requirements of becoming a citizen plus paid the price of entrance, a very minimal part of the actual price of these services.
They are those who respectfully and gratefully receive the privilege of becoming a law-abiding citizens with the responsibilities that are given as well as the rights.
I believe the officials demanding there be no acceptance of lawful apprehension of those committing criminal acts should be, ARRESTED FOR OBSTRUCTING LAW OFFICERS AND FINED THE COMPLETE COST of THEIR ACTIONS TO THOSRE HURT AND THE COST OF IMPEDING the carrying out of ridding this country of the illegals.
Plus, they would clever be barred from any public office or financial support, and more!
I wholeheartedly agree!
Lord, please give our government officials wisdom and creative ideas to solve this complex issue of illegal immigration in our country. We pray that only legal citizens will be allowed to stay on our country. We pray for corrupt government officials to have a paradigm shift in their mindset so that they will do what’s right for us, the people.
