The Department of Justice subpoenaed 20 hospitals that allegedly performed trans surgeries as part of a larger investigation into “healthcare fraud.”

The department announced earlier this month that it was investigating hospitals “involved in performing transgender medical procedures on children” for “healthcare fraud, false statements, and more.”

“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” Attorney General Pam Bondi said in the memo.

In January, Trump signed an executive order banning federal funding for sex-change surgeries for minors. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) proposed a rule change this month to implement the order. In May, CMS sent a letter to hospitals requesting “financial data for all pediatric sex trait modifications” that are “paid, in whole or in part, by the federal government.”

Many hospitals have shifted in the wake of President Trump’s January order, pausing or outright stopping trans treatments. According to The Daily Wire, however, whistleblowers have claimed that some of these hospitals are still offering treatments, hiding their actions with deceptive billing codes.

Some of the hospitals being arrested are facing separate investigations over their trans treatments and surgeries. One such hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, has faced scrutiny over its “politically motivated healthcare,” according to The Daily Wire.

This is an answer to our prayers. As the Attorney General put it, hospitals that profit off of the sterilization and mutilation of children are being “held accountable.” Let’s thank God for this!
