Happy New Year, and welcome to a wonderful new era!

Are you excited about this year? I sure am. I absolutely love new beginnings, and every new year is a new chance to see God, know God, and do amazing things with God like we have never done before. This new year—today—is the beginning of the rest of your life!

But does the beginning of a new year really matter to God?

Once upon a time, I heard someone cynically declare that the New Year holiday was just a fabricated, commercialized reason to get people excited. They did not believe that New Year’s Day initiated a new season at all, and they didn’t think there was any indicator that God would do anything new or different in the new year than He did in the old one.

To that, I say: “Hogwash!”

In case you might have been of the same cynical mindset, I want to talk to you about this topic today. I don’t want you to miss anything wonderful that our amazing, good, good Father has in store for you this year!

So does the new year really matter to God, according to the Bible? YES!

It all goes back to the nature of God. Our God LOVES newness, and He anoints the new. Additionally, you were created in His image, so it’s in your DNA to thrive on newness as well.

Think about it. For example:

  • Remember the last time you receive a new-to-you vehicle, and suddenly you were inspired to keep it clean when you struggled to keep your car clean before.
  • Bring to mind that time when you started a new semester during your school days, and you were suddenly inspired to get organized and study hard—even if you had been struggling before.
  • Recall your most recent birthday, when you thanked God for the year behind you and began looking forward to the year ahead.

Do you remember what that rush of enthusiasm felt like for you on all of those occasions? It was fun and exciting, right? Well, enthusiasm literally means to be filled with God—and HE was the Giver of all that joy and excitement!

My friend, whether you realize it or not, GOD is excited about your new year and new season!

Focus your attention on Him right now. Think about His character, His nature, and His attributes. For example:

  • He is the God of new beginnings.
  • He is the God of new chances and opportunities.
  • He is the God of new ideas, of renewed strength, new hope, restored faith, and fresh fire.

It’s true that God Himself never changes. However, we have to understand that newness is simply part of Who He is. Nothing in Him ever fades away or wears out, so He is never anything BUT new! There are no parts of Him that ever break or need to be repaired. Every aspect of who He is—His nature, character, and attributes—is perfect and shiny and without defect; in other words, He is completely and utterly NEW, despite being forever the same, at all times!

Because God Himself never breaks, wears down, gets tired, or wears out, it’s in His nature to make all things new.

That’s why the book of Revelation tells us:

“Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful” (Revelation 21:5).

It’s also why Lamentations 2:22-23 says:

“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 2:22-23).

God’s mercies are new every morning because He makes all things new. He makes all things new because that’s what He loves to do; it’s Who He is. You could even say that making all things new is God’s favorite hobby! After all, isn’t that what He does every time He saves a lost soul by the blood of Jesus Christ? As it says in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new”!

What’s the moral of the story? Simply this:

Right now, we are starting a new year on the calendar—and it’s a new day for you in God’s eyes, too.

Our Father wants to make all things new in your life, both today and every day; this week and every week; this year and every year. But the question is, will you receive that newness from Him?

The new energy and inspiration that you are sensing right now, at the top of this new year, are God’s anointing. They aren’t just fake emotions or sensations in your head; they are manifestations of the enthusiasm of God. The sense of excitement you feel is God’s anointing. He’s sitting down on you with power for your new day.

So the question is: Will you receive God’s anointing on your “new” today?

God’s precious Holy Spirit is brooding over you right now. He wants to make all things new for you this year. Will you surrender to His creative and regenerative touch? Will you jump into His river of newness—the river that comes only through the indwelling of His Spirit and by personal relationship with Jesus Christ—and allow your life to be transformed in His presence?

Beloved, God is ministering His newness to you. Right now, today.

So I challenge you right now: Steward the anointing on your new.

Embrace Holy Spirit’s anointing for the new and the fresh. Run with it! Allow yourself to dive into the river of His mercies, which are new for you this very day. In this new year—and indeed, in every new month, week, and day—allow yourself to walk in the newness of the Lord.

Yes, this new year matters to God. This New Year’s holiday season matters to God. (Yes, even if it’s only the new year on the Gregorian calendar, and not the Hebraic calendar!) Our God is the One who makes all things new, and He wants to fill you with His newness to you right now.

Is your heart open and ready to receive newness from the Lord this year? If so, take a moment and leave a brief prayer for your own new year in the comments, so we can touch and agree with you!

Thank you, Jamie, for this encouraging word. I especially love the thought that making all things new could very well be God’s favorite hobby. He loves to do it.
I ask for and receive all the new God has for me and for all of us and our nation this year!
The Lord gave me this word for 2022: NUEVO. I looked it up to make sure it was what I thought it was…YES! It was “NEW”. He also brought back around a scripture He has used multiple times since 1998 to call me to pray for revival/awakening — “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a NEW thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Is. 43:18-19
Yes, Lord, give me the grace to fully embrace the new you are pouring out! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thank you Jamie for giving us God’s perspective and truth on a New Year. His neverending love, mercy and forgiveness carry us into 2022 – ready to be released on our nation which is in desperate need of returning to God and His ways.
Greatly needed and much appreciated word from God himself. May we take it to heart and embrace it.

Dear Heavenly Father, I am deeply grateful for Your Word, and for today especially for this Intercessors group. I decree that my prodigal daughter be renewed, regenerated, made whole in Jesus this new year. I decree that my grandson Kai who is 10 yrs old, be that man of valor that You have already promised and the fruits of prayers are already being manifested. You are the God Who is new every morning and Your newness never end. Yes, I am excited for Your new revelations, especially that I can and will be led by the Holy Spirit with new wisdom and knowledge , the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Authority You have given me to Glorify You , that whoever I come into contact with, will know that You are The One and Only Living God and You gift us with the Grace to Believe, accept, and follow You. Without a vision, people perish, I pray for new visions for my family and me, in the Awe-some Name of Jesus Christ Who suffered unto death so that we are totally, absolutely, completely covered in His Blood and Presence. Amen.

Not only does the New Year matter greatly to YHVH GOD, but His concern is for the Body of Christ, His sons and daughters to be wide awake- and fully aware of the schemes and devices of the enemy.

I have again updated my most current blogpost with important graphics that add credibility to the truths that we MUST share with all we know that are fearful or willfully asleep. Please consider: https://zionsgate.wordpress.com/2022/01/06/archbishop-viganos-anointed-letter-to-america/

I do believe that a new year does matter. However, I don’t believe we celebrate when we’re suppose to. When we read scripture many of these holidays are pagan. I know it’s a hard pill to swallow but it’s the truth. When se seek Him and the truth, YAHWEH will show us things aren’t obvious. There is so much to learn and unlearn. The New Year doesn’t start on January 1st. The New Year is on March 20th. Study Vernal Equinox ❤
Shalom

I fervently pray for the Lord to make ALL things new in our nation. Please, let 2022 be the year that corruption and dishonesty are exposed, and dealt with accordingly, in line with YOUR will. I pray for integrity and righteousness to prevail in our land, in Jesus’ holy name.

Encouraging! Thank you for this. This morning, as with many mornings recently I struggled to get up. I’m 78 and my back aches in the morning when I wake up, though it is generally good after an hour or so. In the past, I have always looked forward to making New Year’s resolutions, getting a fresh start, and have done so this year, but this morning, it was coming back to me how many things seem to need being done and aren’t getting done, and I prayed for enthusiasm and wisdom, and I think your article was part of God’s answer. May God bless and encourage you, too.

Thank you for sharing about the NEW YEAR! There are so many stories of gloom and doom that we forget who is in control, God! I want to feel God’s presence this day, month, and year as I did when I accepted Jesus as my Savior! Today is our 14 the Anniversary, do it’s a new beginning to work on our marriage and other relationships. I have hope and God’s kind of joy. This could be the year Jesus comes back for His followers and erases all evil from our lives. We have that hope. Praise God as His blessings are new every morning!

Almighty God, I thank and praise you for the excitement, joy and hope that fills the anticipation of this coming New Year. I thank you that it is because of your precious son Jesus, that I may be able to look forward with peace and steadfastness in my heart. Thank you Lord that even though you are a God who never changes, you make all things new for your glory, honor and praise and that we are recipients of the constant newness of your mercy and grace. I pray in this coming year that you increase my faith and help any unbelief I have hidden in my heart. Lord, expand my mind that I may continue to learn, understand and know You more intimately. I love you Heavenly Father. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
