Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said, “The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people‘s money!” The CATO Institute in Washington, D.C., released the following data: 38% of all Americans believe it would be beneficial to move away from Capitalism to socialism, and 62% of Americans 18-49 years old hold a favorable view of socialism.” What would have been a death sentence to politicians a short time ago is now the direction of the Democratic party – we must wake up!

After nearly 6 decades of researching and writing articles to help people avoid dangers that can destroy their lives, I offer you this one, alerting you to the dangers of what today is being called Democratic Socialism. Those who scoff at its brutal realities do so to their own peril and will most certainly live to regret it.

Secularists, Islamists, Marxists, Globalists, Anti-Traditionalists, Revisionists, Progressivists, and other activists working to mislead the masses today are hell-bent on destroying our Constitutional Republic and the biblical ideals upon which America was founded. These are the very principles that have enabled us to experience unparalleled prosperity and success for the last 250 years.

A governor in New York, the mayor in Washington, D.C., and other major cities across the U.S. are applauding socialist/communist policies.  We need to ask ourselves and others, “How has this gone unnoticed?” It cannot! It should not!

Many, being misled and manipulated by some politicians, left-leaning news sources, and persuasive activists, present seductive, disparaging comments, half-truths, and lies about wealthy, successful people. The sole purpose is to divide different groups, stoking envy & bitterness and emphasizing unfairness & empathy. These emotions are untethered from discernment & basic common sense.

10 Realities

1. America’s long-standing financial prosperity, spanning 250 years, stems from our Founders practicing Free Market Capitalism, NOT Socialism, NOT Communism.

The journal “Of Plymouth, Plantation” by Governor William Bradford chronicled the experiences of the Massachusetts colony that initially tried an idealistic, socialist/collectivist approach. Later, they jettisoned it as they observed “slackers” and lazy individuals not doing their fair share for the well-being of the community and wisely transitioned to what we now know as an equal opportunity, capitalistic policy.

2. The atheistic architects of Communism, Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin, stated that “the goal of Socialism is Communism”- in other words, Socialism is Communism in diapers! These two systems of oppressive control are sequential steps of social and economic development in which “Dictatorships must bridge the gap between Capitalism and Communism” as “Socialism is the first stage of Communism” (“The State and Revolution”-Lenin).

3. Historically, the promoters of these ideologies, Karl Marx, Vladimir Lenin, Mao Zedong, Josef Stalin, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong-un, and other maniacal, totalitarian tyrants are responsible for the slaughter of hundreds of millions of human beings left in the wake of their utopian nightmares.

4. Rebranding Socialism (government control with some semblance of voting) and Communism (absolute government control) as “Democratic Socialism” appeals to the unsuspecting and ignorant with enticing promises and entitlements amidst government control over the production and distribution of a nation’s goods and services.  All the while, economic decisions, citizens’ rights, and freedoms begin to deteriorate and eventually disappear. Compare the tragic plight of now Communist North Korea, the “Hermit Kingdom,” alongside its prosperous and vibrant democratic neighbor, South Korea. South Korea is the envy of the Asian world (Google a comparative satellite photo of the two nations as evening reveals a pitch-black populace with a sparkling state separated by the DMZ since the Korean War of 1950).

5. Pity the plight of our Cuban people, 90 miles away, hypnotized by Fidel Castro‘s visions of Communist grandeur, leaving these precious people of a past island paradise now trapped in a time warp of 70 years ago and poverty beyond imagination. Havana has become a hellhole, worsening with each passing day.

6. Democratic Socialism is a misnomer and manipulation wherein gullible individuals believe they can experience financial prosperity and access “free” money, food, housing, services, benefits, etc. without following time tested, biblical principles of personal responsibility, accountability, honesty, discipline, and sacrificial service. Initially glowing reports of all the state supplied “blessings” eventually evaporate when the bills come due, forcing repressive measures, tax increases, and flimsy excuses to cover the consequences. Remember Obamacare, where you could “keep your doctor” and “the average family of four will save over $2000 a year?” That never materialized, and people have suffered the cataclysmic consequences and ever-increasing medical bills.

7. Socialism and Communism have historically resulted in repression of human rights, moral decay, religious persecution, economic collapse, and massive suffering, torture, and death! Those are facts, not our imagination; reality, not fantasy.

8. The Socialist slogan of “To each according to his need and from each according to his ability” lulls the naïve to expect a utopia supposedly supported by scripture (“There was not a needy one amongst them” (Acts 4:34) but it cleverly deletes that the early Christians acted voluntarily, not by trickery nor coercion!

9. Promoters of Socialism and Communism appeal to the sin of covetousness; disregard protection of private property and family inheritance; foster dependency on government programs; promote economic stagnation. There is an absence of innovation and an erosion of personal freedom. Both are an affront to the Judeo-Christian worldview honoring God (not the state) as Sovereign. A stark difference can be seen between Communist China and the former Eastern European countries, where people were enslaved without liberty, dignity, and real spirituality until the Soviet Union collapsed onto the trash heap of history, as Ronald Reagan predicted, and the Berlin Wall finally came down!

10. Consider the divinely inspired opening words of our Founders’ document that forged our nation in the Declaration of Independence from 1776, which clearly contradict the deception of so-called Democratic Socialism:

“We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness…”

Here’s the deal:  the surge of Socialism and the counterfeit of Communism must be recognized as a serious threat in our generation. We must be salt (holding back decay) and light (exposing the darkness of deception).

Thomas Jefferson said, “When you abandon freedom to achieve security, you lose both and deserve neither.”
