D.C.’S LEGALIZED CORRUPTION

Lord, we pray about these individual instances of corruption and injustice like expanding the Supreme Court, abolishing the Electoral College, and cursing our police departments. We pray that the enemy's plans to warp the laws that govern our people would be thwarted.

We are in the midst of a spiritual fight for the future of our nation, but I fear the church has not understood the battle.

In preparation for this article earlier this week, I felt the Lord lead me to focus on corruption and injustice. Before the week was out, a flurry of examples appeared in the news:

  • Expansion of the Supreme Court to create a liberal majority.
  • The addition of Washington, D.C. as a state to add liberal votes to the House and Senate.
  • The ongoing calls to abolish the Electoral College.
  • The police shootings and the ensuing riots.
  • The Department of Homeland Security paid over $350 per bed to house illegal immigrants in hotels.
  • One of President Joe Biden’s top nominees to the Department of Justice called for “defunding police.”
  • Reporting suggests earmarks (pork) could be returning.

Those examples from this week do not include a long litany of other scandals, from the Russia investigation to Lisa Page and Peter Strzok targeting Trump to questions over voter fraud.

The issues listed above are key points to any serious prayer warrior’s strategy.

However, as important as these matters are, I fear they are just the fruit of a deeper root issue. As intercessors we must always ask God what the root of the matter is or we will never find victory.

When you chop down a tree, it appears to be dealt with, but the roots still remain.

Insider Spiritual Intelligence

To get some insider intelligence for this article, I spoke with a Christian who worked in the highest levels of government during the Trump administration, including the Department of Justice. I’ve protected his name, but he is a trustworthy source who worked closely with former Alabama Senator and Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

During our interview, my source explained that much of the corruption in Washington, D.C. is legal, not illegal. The church often focuses on the illegal few instances that grab headlines, but the majority of corruption comes through the legal, “bad faith” ways our government and laws can be manipulated. That means while their actions may be technically legal, their motives can be impure.

The cultural acceptance of these practices feeds a spirit of injustice and corruption that later manifests in bigger ways.

“There are not these overt, super clear locations of corruption,” he said. “It’s much more widespread and invasive … I think it would be so much easier if there were these 15 overt actions a day of corruption. [T]here are hundreds or thousands of them every day, but they are tiny. Individually they are insignificant, but when you pile them all together…”

Corruption is often legal and widespread. It is rooted in a spirit and the hearts of those who make decisions in Washington, not in a particular investigation or scandal.

While we pick one or two scandalous headlines and focus our attention there, the Enemy is doing a hundred things behind the scenes. We cannot simply pray for an end to voter fraud or court-packing or for protection of the Electoral College.

We must, as my source put it…

“Pray that hearts are turned,” he said. “It’s not in some huge, blockbuster movie scene thing where someone is about to do something illegal, but then they don’t do that illegal thing. It’s more that people’s hearts are turned toward justice, that they recognize God has a part for them to play and they do that in a spirit of love and humility instead of a spirit of selfishness.”

To put it another way, we must focus our attention on the “root” of the tree of corruption, instead of only focusing on the “fruit” of bad policies or scandalous headlines.

To this end, we beseech the Lord and declare this verse:

Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted.” (Mt 15:13)

What does corruption and injustice look like in Washington, D.C.?

Examples of legal “corruption” would be secretive campaign donations, favors that violate the interests of the American people, and of course the infamous “swamp.”

Even the swamp, though, is not simply a handful of bad actors pulling the strings. It is a system that rewards the experienced with more power. More importantly, it is a process the American people don’t understand and have very little control over. We like to think we elect our leaders, but there are thousands of staffers, officials, and bureaucrats making decisions every day. They were handpicked, but we don’t know their name.

“What does the swamp look like…?” my source asked. “We like to pretend that the swamp are these evil guys with pencil mustaches. But more often than not the swamp is probably the people that we think are most qualified for this job—a Yale law school graduate who worked on Capitol Hill and became a lobbyist and deservedly has the reputation as an expert.

“The very obvious levers of power are seldom the most effective levels of power,” he added.

We must pray, then, for God to turn the hearts of the experts, or as some say, the “ruling class,” to fulfill the command given in the book of Micah: “Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly” with our God.”

Our prayer strategy, then, is threefold:

  1. Pray against the individual instances of corruption and injustice like expanding the Supreme Court, abolishing the Electoral College, and cursing our police departments. Pray that the enemy’s plans to warp the laws that govern our people would be thwarted.
  2. Pray that the root, not just the fruit, of corruption would be removed from the nation’s Capital, that the spirit of corruption would be replaced with the Holy Spirit of Justice in the hearts of the ruling class in Washington. Pray also that the police departments would act wisely and their citizens would act peacefully.
  3. Pray that the thousands of smart, usually young, people (many of whom I know personally) go against the culture of corruption and self-interest. Pray that they have their hearts awakened to justice. Pray that they fulfill the call of Micah.

Verses to pray into as you intercede for this issue:

Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. (Eph 5:11)

Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted.” (Mt 15:13)

Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly” with our God. (Mic 6:8)

  1. Father, I turn to you, the creator of this life, and creator of each life that dwells in this earth, in the United States of America. I bring to you our president, Mr. Biden; Father invade his soul and plan Your plans in his heart, place people in his path that is a Christian, a believer rooted in you word, and surround Mr. Biden with the love of God, and the salvation through your son the Lord Jesus. Dear God, Open his Eyes, and may Mr. Biden seek you, and find you. In Jesus name, I pray Amen.

    Amen! 11
  2. No, the Church has not understood the battle; some churches are still sound asleep! I pray that hearts can be turned around, that the Church will wake up and pay attention and do it’s civil responsibility. I also that that more deeds of darkness be exposed.

    Amen! 13
  3. I have prayed for years for a Holy Spirit Awakening over our country, and will continue to do so. People need to realize that God is real and to be respectfully feared as well as loved. Only when the consequences of sin are truly understood will evil roots be removed.

    Amen! 8
  4. Problem is, some of these lifer corrupt politicians don’t believe in God or fear God and they are running the country into the ground. They too, will have to face their judgement day.

    Amen! 9
    1. Yes but You Lord God can use all things according to Your Plan and Purpose. We repent on behalf of these souls that do not choose life. Have mercy on us who put our trust in You! In the Mighty Name of Jesus!

      Amen! 13
  5. Mr. Joseph Cristel’s comments are “right on target”!! Please allow me to explain why I believe Mr. Cristel’s position, as well as mine, is correct by referencing several scriptures.

    1. You have seen Me you have seen the Father. (John 14: 9).
    2. This is My Son whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. (Matthew 3:17, Matthew 17:5 and 2Peter 1:17).
    3. My God why have You forsaken Me? (Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34).

Scriptures tell us the following :

    1. Father God and His Son Jesus are one in the same.
    2. Father God loved and was well please in His Son whom the Father sent into the world.
    3. The Father’s Son, Jesus, was the perfect, sinless, unblemished, spotless, incorruptible Lamb of God for the 33 years that Jesus lived in this world. Jesus did NOT sin for 33 years, until God put the sins of the world upon Him on the cross and Jesus cried out “My God why have You forsaken Me?”

With the above scriptures as my support, I want to turn to Matthew 21:12, Mark 11:15 and John 2:15. These 3 scriptures document Jesus’ righteous indignation, His frustration, His disappointment and even His anger, as He went through the temple turning over the money changers tables and chasing them out with a whip.

As God and Jesus are one in the same, not only was Jesus turning over the tables, but God was also. Jesus stepped down from Heaven and came into this world for the sole purpose of doing His Father’s will. Furthermore, this act was NOT sinful and God was still pleased with His Son. And Jesus was still His Father’s perfect, sinless, spotless and unblemished Son.

So why did God and Jesus overturn the money changers tables?? I suspect we all know why, but please allow me to share some possibilities as follows :
I’ve previously identified righteous indignation, frustration, disappointment and anger. I’m fairly confident we could add to the list, the evil traits of the money changers, such as corruption, deception, cheating, lying, conniving, blasphemy and abusing God’s people and His house.

I don’t know about everyone else but the evil traits of the money changers described above, sound exactly like the evilness being carried out in Washington, DC!! And it’s being carried out directly against God, His Word, His churches, His Bible, Christianity, God’s people and God’s country!!

Hymns that we no longer sing in church like “Onward Christian Soldiers” describe a “mighty army marching into war with the cross of Jesus going on before” and a battle. “Rise O Men of God” describes “ending the night of wrong”, “lifting high the cross of Christ” and “treading where His Feet have trod”!! Folks, LOOK AT the words; marching, ending, lifting, treading!! These are CLEARLY action words!! It is crystal clear these songs and words do NOT endorse silence, complacency or sitting on our hands and watching from the sidelines!!

Get in God’s mighty army!! Start marching, lifting and treading!! It is NOT sinful!! If Jesus did it, then it’s alright for His people to do!!

It’s time to “Turn Over Some Tables”!!

    Respectfully Submitted.
    In HIS Grip,
    Bill Thweatt
    Evans, Ga.

  6. Beautiful!
God have mercy on us all. Empty us of ourselves and fill us with Your Holy Spirit to fulfill the plans and purposes that You have created us for so that we help light the way for others and bring glory and honor to Your name above all names ❤. Amen.

    Amen! 12
  7. Dear Holy Father, Please remove the veil of deceit, the corruption of greed, and the evil that is pursuing us, creating doubt and mistrust and hate. Open our eyes and our minds to move beyond the lies and corruption that are taking over our world. Give us all the strength to fight and defeat the evil that is taking steps to overcome and oppress us all. Thank you, God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!

    Amen! 19
  8. Father, while reading this, understanding that every room and closet in every building is known to YOU; Its whispers, secrets and all deceit and evil are known to YOU. Father we in our own strength are helpless but with YOU, absolute victory in every instance. Please Father, allow us the victory so we can spread YOUR word to the world through missions and YOUR WORD. In the Name above all names, Jesus

    Amen! 21
  9. It is a truth that you cannot legislate morality. I wholeheartedly agree with the source’s statement that we “Pray that hearts are turned “. Our hearts are deceptively wicked. This is very evident in the actions are the nation’s leaders. Corruption is sin whether people call it “legal”or not. There’s no such thing as a “little sin” to God. Pray that the government leaders repent and seek guidance from God’s word so that America may once again be a “nation under God” to obtain mercy rather than wrath.

    Amen! 19
  10. In recent months, I’ve had to disconnect from all MSM and most of the published news by phone apps, emails, and the likes. I find solitude in the sounds of nature and familiar christian music. My primary prayer of late has been for God to grant mercy over America and His children. This song has been replaying over and over in my mind as I seek God’s Almighty presence and meditate in His goodness and grace.

    MERCY CAME RUNNING LYRICS BY
    PHILLIPS CRAIG AND DEAN

Once there was a holy place
    Evidence of God’s embrace
I can almost see mercy’s face
    Pressed against the veil

    Looking down with longing eyes
    Mercy must have realized
That once His blood was sacrificed
    Freedom would prevail

And as the sky grew dark
And the Earth began to shake
With justice no longer in the way

Mercy came running like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
    Mercy came running to me

Once there was a broken heart
Way to human from the start
And all the years left it torn apart
    Hopeless and afraid

Walls I never meant to build
    Left this prisoner unfulfilled
    Freedom called but even still
    It seemed so far away

I was bound by the chains
From the wages of my sin
Just when I felt like giving in

Mercy came running like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
    Mercy came running to me

Sometimes I still feel so far
So far from where I really should be
He gently calls to my heart
    Just to remind me

Mercy came running like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
    Mercy came running to me

Mercy came running like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
    Mercy came running

Mercy came running like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy

  11. I have prayed for God to turn the hearts of those in office and the aids to them toward Himself, that He will remind them that they were elected by His permissive will, and should remember what they are there for: to represent the people of their constituency, and are to be servants, not rulers. They can be taken out of office at any time when God sees that their corruption is terminal. I pray also that they will truly love justice, seek mercy and walk humble with our God. I pray for His wisdom and guidance to always lead them.

    Amen! 17
  12. Corruption in D.C. has not only existed but was legalized when Doug Coe, the man who founded the National Prayer Breakfast created the organization to exist as a shadow government and founded it as a direct evolution and inspired by Hitler’s SS and Stalin’s Gestapo. We will not be safe while money changes hands in dark rooms and deals are done through blasphemy in God’s name. As long as the Church turns a blind eye to all the corruption we condone because it is “our side” we will not see God bless republicans or the Church in America. I pray we have not strayed too far, but I know in my spirit that we indeed have.

    Amen! 4
  13. Thank you for your faithfulness and your diligence in seeking out God’s truth. I’m reading “The Book of Signs” by David Jeremiah and it is so much about all of this.

    Amen! 3
    1. This clearly illustrates God’s Word in Isaiah 5:20 when evil will be call good, and good called evil. After a while evil becomes culturally normalized and thus the standard way of thinking. It started with granting certain individuals political favors and eventually led to bigger compromises where legislators approve the legalization of homosexuality, abortion, addictive drugs and other unrighteous and aberrant behaviors as the norm. Thus you have a world that wallows in darkness.

Father God, we acknowledge that You are the Light of this world and as time draws near for You to wrap up this chapter of Your book, You warned us of the darkness. We choose to call evil what it is-evil; and good we will call good. We will not fall for the wiles of satan but instead exemplify and steadfastly follow what You deem as good. By following You, we are Your light in this world and we will not compromise Your Word. Continue to use us to speak and pray for truth, for Your Word says that only “Truth will/shall set us free.” Amen.

      Amen! 12
  14. It’s pretty disgusting. The immaturity of certain members of congress shines out over the rest. Fortunately there are more with their heads securely fastened on their shoulders looking out for the sanity of this country. Keep praying for those with common sense and the power to do what is right.

    Amen! 19
  15. In fact, the Lord may have us pray and act even more broadly and deeply, for His headship over America, for the outpouring of His Spirit of truth on America, and for an outpouring of God’s love from our hearts.

    Amen! 28
  16. I am so unhappy that our nation’s government and at least half of the population cannot see that satan has taken them over. Whether they are believers or not they still should be able to determine right from wrong, but the veil has not been lifted from their eyes. I am saddened beyond belief by the out and out corruptness in every aspect of our lives right now. And it no longer has to be hidden in order for it to become legal.

    Amen! 24
  17. Thank you, Casey. It is pathetic how the widespread corruption in Washington D.C. has become such a stronghold. We as Christians need to take authority in Jesus’ mighty name. This stronghold of the enemy must be pulled out by the roots. Dear Lord, You know how far our government has strayed from Your principles. We pray for a Third Great Awakening, an End Times revival, and we pray for it to begin in Washington D.C. Please wake the people in our government to the truth. Give Damascus Road experiences to all those government officials. You know who needs this to happen. Please cause it to happen, make it so, in Jesus’ name we pray.

    Amen! 32
  18. Nazi Germany passed laws. What they did was legal. The Nuremburg Trials after WWII revealed that this was their only defense: “We were just following the laws.”

Fallen humanity needs a revival by the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

We are praying for a revival and/or A Great Awakening in the U.S.A by the grace of God Almighty. Amen.
This is our ONLY hope. Amen again.

    Amen! 39
  19. Im familiar with the corporate world that rewards with gifts but this article telling me this happens hundreds of times daily in the government was new. Felt as your article indicated I had my head in the sand. Duh!

    Amen! 6
  20. I pray for all people in authority in our Nation that they recognize their own inadequacy and pray and seek the will of God. That they respect authority and practice accountability. That they desire honesty, integrity, and loyalty and follow their constituents desires or needs. In Jesus Name! Amen

    Amen! 27
  21. I can’t wait to share these issues and scriptures to rid our nation of the spirits of Anti-Christ, Whoredom, Lying, Deceiving, Fear mongering, and Lawlessness and Death for good in Jesus’name for His honor, glory, and fame. Love and prayers . Thank you for sharing this well written article to guide us in to prayer this Wednesday night. 🤗❤️🤟➕🙏

    Amen! 8
      1. After reading the article and the comments that were posted, I think a very good healthy dose of the teaching of the Ten Commandments is what is needed. When we took those Ten Commandments out of our schools we also took them out of our future businesses and government. We have raised a generation of people who no longer can tell the difference between the truth and a lie, cheating and honesty, infidelity and faithfulness. And we no longer fear the Lord, or revere Him. we take His name in vain every minute of every day. I pray that we would ask the Lord to enable us to take the axe to the root. The root has established branches in every aspect of our lives, we see it not only in government, but as branches that are producing fruit throughout all of our nation, in our schools, our businesses and yes even in our churches.
I pray from Psalms 119 verses 33 through 36. Holy Spirit teach us the way of Your decrees, that we will follow them to the end. Give us understanding so that we may keep Your law and obey it with all our hearts. Direct us in the paths of Your commands, for there we find delight. And turn our hearts toward Your statutes and not towards selfish gain. Amen

        Amen! 15
        1. Yessssss! Amen and Amen…. with all our hearts…for there we find delight. In His ways, in Him. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths, straight and smooth. Prov 3:6. Hallelujah Amen!

          Amen! 6
  22. The enemy of our souls is attempting to put a “strangle hold” upon the people of God through the flood of evil that is erupting daily upon multiple places throughout our land. He is trying to overwhelm the Church and discourage those who do not have a “total” grasp of this darkness of evil spreading upon us. Lord, do not let this happen. Turn this dark cloud around as You did in each of our lives when You came into our spirits on the day of our Salvation. Lift up the fallen. Help those who are unable to grasp all of the issues, allow You to show them Your plan for them as a believer. All of us have a role to play in this Body called the Body of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the Name of The Lord God Almighty, Amen!

    Amen! 19
  23. Thank you Lord for your insight through Casey. Help us to stand with you in prayer and wisdom as we pray your Holy Spirit to defeat and restore the “legal and illegal “ corruption at the heart of our government. You defeated this at the cross, so we plead your name over “legal corruption” and its root cause, and declare victory!

In your name Jesus we pray! Amen!!!

    Amen! 24
  24. Lord there’s been a great “show” being performed in DC and it has been the strong-arm of manipulation and slight of hand doing dirty deeds in front of our faces. DC has become so arrogant in their own complicity of corruption that they parade their agenda openly, believing that the masses are completely hypnotized with their guided imagery pushing for a one world government giving power to doctrines of demons.

BREAKING NEWS – not all are hypnotized … We are “snapping” out of it and God is revealing His agenda.

Lord, I pray you bring confidence in understanding and wisdom in reporting for duty in your army of laying the axe to every root of deception. May your word penetrate every root of hostage taking and mind control propaganda proliferating across your creation. Your word was and is and ever will be for your 💓 glory the companion of wisdom and deliverance to the people you love. Amen

    Amen! 44
  25. Father God, in accordance with I Timothy 2:1-2, for those leaders from the national level all the way down to the local level who do not know You as Lord and Savior, I pray that You would soften their hearts and that they will come to know You as Lord and Savior for then and only then will they be able to rule righteously. Until that happens, we pray for mercy and protection over our nation, the nation that You founded and the nation for which You have a divine plan. May we once again be One Nation Under God. In Jesus’ Name I pray.

    Amen! 45
  26. I appreciate Casey Harper brining to light the need to ask the Lord to remove the roots of corruption would be removed from our Capital. I would suggest that in addition to asking this, to also pray that God would move in the hearts of men to Humility, the Humility of seeking Him. When we seek God in Humility, His Holy Spirit can work in our hearts. Issues of the past that need to be forgiven and cleared surface–they surface for the purpose of letting the Blood of Christ that was shed on the Cross of Calvary cleanse our hearts. When that happens, many will come to Christ.

It is my prayer that God’s Holy Spirit will move us to seek Him with Humility and turn our eyes on Jesus.

    Amen! 49
    1. Mr. Turner, thank you. The meek shall inherit the earth….I c a n n o t e v e n s e e k Him with humility on my own. My face on Jesus,. His Spirit emptying all else in me. There isn’t enough flesh amongst us all to lay the axe at the root; there must be none.
Father, Please begin to destroy this root, first, in me.

      Amen! 4
  27. Father in Heaven, It says in Your word that You are the Heaven’s and laugh at the evil plans of the enemy on earth. Let Your Kingdom come in power and trample under foot the evil plans of the enemy thru weak and sinful men and women.

    Amen! 42
  28. Wonderful insight into the depths of the evil in our land. It MUST be removed from the roots!!!
My prayer first is for a change of heart … repentance, deliverance from evil, and for their salvation… Quickly!!! Otherwise, for their removal from office in whatever way God chooses.
I can’t help but wonder why the military for We The People have not been utilized to remove this invasion and overthrow of America; but I believe that through our continued prayers into the Throne Room of God, that HE will move mightily… In His perfect timing.
The three verses listed are key and critically urgent!

    Amen! 41
    1. Thank you for your prayers. The military option is a dangerous one. It sets a bad precedent…will both parties have their own military vying for power? I believe I understand your heart on this matter, but we must play by the rules even when others don’t. God will reward us for our faithfulness. Thank you for your love for our country and for your prayers. 🙂

      Amen! 8
      1. The military option is a a dangerous one? I agree. But this is no passing summer squall. It’s a category 7 hurricane. It will destroy America as we know it. The Left over threw our Presidential election. That’s treason. If you’ve even casually looked at the evidence and the computer forensics it is self evident.
Play by the rules? Sure. God’s , not theirs. Our “faithfulness” will be rewarded by doing what’s right. Or, if you will, setting things straight and if that includes using the military to reinstate the rightful President, then so be it. Kicking the can down the road and hoping that playing by the “rules” ( may I use you phrase, “legal corruption”) will turn this thing around is naive. We’ve run out of road, or have you noticed?
One other point. The “root” of the tree, in my opinion, is the electorate. They either vote the morally compromised in or they enter the government as civil servants themselves and corrupt it by their own immoral acts. John Adams : “ Our Constitution was made ONLY for a moral and religious people….It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other”.
If America is to survive and if the Constitution is to function as it was intended to then God will have to implant His Holy Spirit into the hearts of our people as it was at America’s birth. A direct, supernatural intervention of His Glory is on the horizon. May it come quickly!

        Amen! 5
        1. Mr. Joseph Cristel you have “hit the nail on the head” and “We the People” had better realize America is at a point where “the rubber meets the road”!! Every Christian who is part of the Remnant MUST get off the sideline and get in the battle!! Respectfully submitted.
          In HIS Grip,
          Bill Thweatt
          Evans, Georgia

          Amen! 3
  29. Heavenly Father,
We have fallen so far away from You. Pride, self interest, power and selfishness rule the hearts of many in our nation who hold positions of authority. Lord, only You can see the hearts of man and only You can draw them to Yourself. Please Lord, please send Your Holy Spirit to speak to our hearts, to examine our motives and to turn us from darkness to light! Bring repentance and salvation to those who have not received Christ. This is just as You said it would be so none of this is a surprise to those who study and know Your Word. Prepare us, equip us and give us the strength to stand firm committed in word and deed to bring You glory and boldly share the truth of the Gospel! In Jesus Name I pray! Amen

    Amen! 63
