As political violence continues to increase in our nation, D.C. police arrested a man planning to attack a Catholic church holding prayers for the Supreme Court on Sunday. According to his manifesto, this man was targeting both Catholics and the Supreme Court.

From the Daily Wire:

Louis Geri, a 41-year-old from Arizona and New Jersey, was apprehended outside the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle on October 5, the same day the church held its annual “Red Mass” in which a cardinal prays for the high court as it embarks on a new term, and which is historically attended by justices.

Geri was occupying a green tent on the steps of the church when police attempted to clear the area in preparation for the Supreme Court event. He told police, “You might want to stay back and call the federales, I have explosives,” according to an affidavit.

A member of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Bomb Squad then told him he needed to move because of a special event. He replied, “I’m aware of that (referring to the Red Mass),” police wrote, and threatened to throw a bomb into the street as a demonstration, adding, “I have a hundred plus of them.”

Geri was reportedly asked multiple times to leave by police. Each and every time, Geri refused. He even threatened the officers at one point, stating, “You better have these people step away or there’s going to be deaths.”

When police threatened him with forced removal, Geri reportedly handed them his nine-page manifesto, entitled, “Written Negotiations for the Avoidance of Destruction of Property via Detonation of Explosives.” According to the police, this manifesto revealed “significant animosity” toward Catholics, Jews, the Supreme Court, and ICE.

Following Geri’s arrest, the bomb squad located “a large cache of handmade destructive devices” in his tent, according to the D.C. police. The Daily Wire notes he was charged with “Threats to Kidnap or Injure a person” and “Manufacture or Possession of Weapon of Mass Destruction (Hate Crime),” among other crimes.

Geri’s planned attack is the latest in a long, recent string of left-wing political violence. In the past several weeks we have seen a transgender individual open fire on a Catholic school, a young man assassinate Charlie Kirk, and a different young man shoot at an ICE facility. Previous years also saw their fair share of violence, with a trans individual attempting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022 and two separate individuals attempting to assassinate President Trump in 2024.

As violence continues, this is set to be a dangerous year for the Supreme Court, none of whom attended the Red Mass due to safety concerns. However, you may be encouraged to know that a number of IFA intercessors, including IFA President/CEO David Kubal, participated in a consecration of the Courts event on Monday led by the Judicial Action Group. And, considering what took place over the weekend, this time of prayer and intercession was necessary.

As the Enemy continues to attack our courts and our officials, let’s pray for the protection of the justices!
