I Prayed have prayed
Lord, please change the hearts of those in halls of government power to understand and protect religious liberty. And please bless and strengthen American soldiers and their families as they seek to honor You while they serve our nation.

Nineteen years ago President George W. Bush visited Arlington National Cemetery to honor American soldiers who gave their lives for our country. One of those heroes was Captain Russell Rippetoe, who died in combat earlier that spring at a checkpoint not far from Hadithah Dam in Iraq.

Bush noted in his remarks that Rippetoe’s dog tags included an engraving of Joshua 1:9, which he quoted, “Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage. Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee.”

The President then concluded, “This faithful Army captain has joined a noble company of service and sacrifice gathered row by row. These men and women were strong and courageous and not dismayed. And we pray they have found their peace in the arms of God.”

A company called Shields of Strength (SoS), which incorporates Bible verses or relevant phrases into its products, produced Rippentoe’s dog tag. However, tags like the one that helped inspire this powerful reflection are now under attack.

While SoS operations began in the late 1990’s, its connections to Department of Defense (DoD) leaders gained significant strength after the 2001 launch of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. In fact, one historian of that period said, “Aside from the official insignias they wear, [the SoS dog tag] is the emblem most often carried by members of the military in Afghanistan and Iraq.”

The connection soldiers and their families feel to these shields has led to SoS producing millions of them. One veteran told First Liberty, which is now defending SoS, “This tag is faith. It’s believing that you’re going to live—and that even if you die, you’ll be holding hands with God for eternity. That’s what it means to me, and every veteran I know feels the same way.”

But times have changed at DoD, and top officials have become far less friendly to SoS in recent years. In fact, in 2019 — after years of both informally and formally permitting SoS to produce dog tags with military branch symbols — DoD suddenly pulled the plug on SoS. In one case, an email to SoS from an Army official with a subject line of “Negative Press” stated, “You are not authorized to put biblical verses on your Army products. For example Joshua 1:9. Please remove ALL biblical references from all of your Army products.”

Military leaders decided to quickly comply with the demands of a group that bills itself as the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. MRFF claims DoD was violating its own trademark guidelines prohibiting the licensing of its marks for anything “intended to promote ideological movements, sociopolitical change, religious beliefs (including non-belief), specific interpretations of morality, or legislative/statutory change.” And MRFF’s president this month criticized First Liberty’s “fundamentalist Christian nationalistic” work to defend SoS as “pathetically baseless in actual law.”

However, in court filings, First Liberty contends DoD is wrong in its policy on numerous fronts — not the least of which is its infringement on First Amendment freedoms of religion and speech, as well as statutory Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) protections. Leaning on the jurisprudence of the U.S. Supreme Court, First Liberty argues that DoD’s viewpoint censorship runs afoul of the U.S.. Constitution.

“Your directive that SoS remove all biblical references from its products demonstrates precisely the type of government hostility towards religion that the Establishment Clause forbids,” it said in an earlier letter to the Army.

When First Liberty filed its case for SoS late last year, General Counsel Mike Berry added, “DOD officials caved to the empty threats of those who make their living by being offended. There’s no legal reason for the military to discriminate against Shields of Strength.”

Will you pray for light and liberty to prevail in this case? And will you pray for the soldiers and military families for whom dog tags like these are precious reminders of God’s power and presence in even the most dire circumstances?

Lord God, be with those who intend to purge all religious speech from the military, even symbols, such as the cross, or printed
bible verses. Help them to understand that those symbols and verses (even on dog tags) are those of Love, from You O Lord. I pray that some will turn to You with their whole heart. Those who do not, remove them from positions of authority in our nation. We cry out to You, Lord God for only with Your help can our military and our nation return to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen

May respect for the faith of our soldiers be restored, and may our military again be place under the guidance of God.
God does not desire that we kill each other. Although I have little love for any kind of war, I have great respect and sympathy for those in our military. Most serve from a call of duty, either Godly felt or not. Most do not join because of a desire to kill someone. The military attempts to turn these brave and often loving humans into killing machines. As a result, despite the comradeship found in the military, or the ability to govern oneself, they suffer agonizing mental consequences. Humans are not killing machines. Let us honor those brave military, and at the same time, exert prayer and effort to end war. Let us pray that the military and our other institutions return their attention and obedience to God.

Jesus, we pray that every plan to implement global control, including the plans of the World Health Organization, would be frustrated, destroyed, and come to nothing. Preserve our freedoms–of every kind–in every nation, worldwide

Jesus is the greatest example of sacrificially laying down His life for the world. The military is the second greatest. John 15:13; Romans 5:1-11; 2 Corinthians 5:14-

“..DOD caves to the empty threats of those who make their living by being offended”……Oh wow truer words have never been spoken…

And, as we know -we have been reading,& hearing about ..the onset of these days arriving- for some time now.
In my case-,since I first picked up a Bible in 1985 ..however and, none the less.. it is still mind-boggling- and I do not know why I cannot somehow allow myself to approach this in a mindset that I have felt like I have been prepared for.
And let us remember that this onset of- coercing.. by politically correct thought police- is part of the Marxist philosophy that was actually being used way before Karl Marx even existed. Karl Marx just codified a method of coercing large portions of people groups into learned behaviors-, through fear mongering techniques.. that have been employed since the days of Machiavelli, at least.
Actually as I understand it ..Herod also tormented the Jews the same way.
So as someone else said, “..those who do not know history-,are doomed to repeat it”.. William Federer -,the historian has documented the history of tyrants subduing Free People groups historically, quite well.
When my dad explained to me how dog tags were used- after a soldier had fallen on the battlefield.. my young mind then -,as a boy ..was forever engraved with that painful thought.
Lord in Jesus name.. The only thing that I can think of here- is that we need to focus on you.. We have been so blessed and so comfortable for so long,-and the thought of young men giving their lives in service to support Freedom.. so that the whole world could come here- has become a rite of passage that many of us do not fully appreciate-, I believe..
Lord I pray that this time could be used not only to draw us closer to you ..but also that you would work through us- that we could we learn to appreciate the Glorious Freedom that you have instituted from your written word through the United States Constitution-, into the very ground of this great nation.. And let Not-, the evil forces that have permeated the roots of our nation.. overtake us completely-, Lord-, but just as the ancient Israelites were chastised for their continual and ongoing sin.. but then were delivered-,Lord.. let us be delivered.. but do not tarry in forgiving us- or in allowing your mercy to rain on us- Lord, because we need your mercy desperately.. In Jesus mighty Name, Amen

We must contend for faith. Fight! Contend! Do Battle! When apostasy arrives, when the word of God is attacked it is time to fight for the faith. Only believers who are spiritually “in shape” can answer the summons. This is in my NKJV a summary before the book of Jude. As we pray, stand, and are not moved, the Lord backs us up! Father thank you for the believers that fight back, and contend for the faith. I pray for more labors and for the churches across America to preach Your word, love one another, and Lord grow us up quickly in Jesus name amen!
