I Prayed have prayed
Dear God, we ask that our city become a city of light. Filled with the glory, light, and protection of God. Teach us to intercede and press through the darkness. Teach us to allow the light of Christ within us to shine forth, brighter and brighter, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

It was at the end of 2021 when God first began to speak to me about cities of light. Recently, I am hearing that riveting statement in my heart again. Cities of light. However, after years of turmoil and chaos in our country, is it even still possible. Or is it too late to see this promise come to pass?

Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.

In early 2022, I heard several prophetic voices confirming what I was hearing in my spirit. God said there would be cities of light. They told how they believe God had said these cities would have little crime and minimum sickness, if any. It seems impossible, doesn’t it?

To this day, I remember the hope that arose in me when I first heard the phrase, cities of light. That same hope arose in me this week as God reminded me of this promise. Many times, God speaks a word to us to help us press through a momentary challenge we are walking through. Sometimes, He speaks a word that is relevant to a season of our lives. And then, there are promises that endure a lifetime. I believe this is one of those. When we peruse through the pages of the Bible, we see God had indeed set His people apart at times. He even caused cities in which His people dwelled to be divinely protected and free from destruction when devastation was happening all around. God is the same, yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8.) If He has done it once, He will do it again.

So, Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings (Ex 10:22,23.)

Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel (Ex 11:4-7.)

We see, there are times in history when God so separated His people that their very cities were set apart.  What happened in other areas was not permitted to happen in their city because it was filled with the glory and protection of God.  A city of light, so to speak. When all was dark in Egypt, light remained in Goshen where the people of God dwelt. Can God do that again?  Absolutely!  Nothing is impossible with God.  And nothing is impossible to those who believe. How then does our city become one of those cities of light? We must look back to find that answer.

When I heard the prophetic word about cities of light, cities that boasted of diminished crime and decreased sickness, the man of God didn’t stop there. He went on to say that God said these cities would be cities of intercession. If your city is to become a city of light, it must first be saturated with intercession. You and I could be key players in the fulfillment of these cities of light.

Light arises in the darkness for the upright (Ps 112:4.)

Intercessory prayer will change our cities and our nation!  It unleashes God’s power into our cities.  It pulls down strongholds.  It releases tremendous power and is dynamic in its working.  Through intercessory prayer we can dismantle the plans of the enemy.  It is a mighty weapon in our hand. Through intercession we can take back our cities, thereby impacting our world.  We can, through intercession, become cities of light.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds: casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor 10:3-5.)

Jesus said in John 9:5, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” He also said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house” (Mt 5:14-15.)

You are that light. I am that light. Jesus in us causes that light to shine and to grow brighter and brighter with each prayer. The word light in Strong’s Concordance is defined as a torch.  It is time to allow the torch within us to spread, to light other torches. We must reach out to our friends and neighbors in our cities and invite them to come together and pray over our cities.  Hence, the torch will multiply as we pray, and continue to expand until we become cities of intercession – and thereby become cities of light, just as God has said.

John 1:5 says, “And the light shines on the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it” (Amplified).

With weekly protests, growing violence, wars, and rumors of war, it may appear the darkness has overpowered our nation. This is not true. Only God’s Word will stand, and His Word says the darkness has never overpowered the light. It has never and it will never. The light of Jesus Christ can never be extinguished.

My friends, it is time to allow our light to shine in the darkness, knowing the darkness cannot overpower it.  We do that through intercession for our city and for our nation. It is time to see cities of light rise across the land! It’s time to release the light within us. May it be just as God said it would be, cities of light. With minimum crime and very little sickness. I don’t know about you but that sounds like something worth pursuing. Let’s take back our cities through the powerful prayer of intercession. Let’s light up them up for the glory of God.

Oh Lord, thank you so much for this good word of encouragement, this call to arms from You, Lord of Angel Armies! We have sinned against you Lord, from being prideful, critical of each other and even ourselves, rather than loving you with every fiber of our being, loving each other and truly loving ourselves, believing what You say about us over what the enemy says or others say…
Lord, please pour out Your Spirit to give fresh anointing to Your Bride. Here in Ft Lauderdale area Lord please wash us, unify us, thank you for so many young pastors devoted to You, Your Word, leading by following Your Spirit, help us live up to the name, Fountian (Ft) of the Lord’s Praise (Lauderdale).
Lord light up Florida and let Your Light roll across our nation, from sea to shining sea! I believe You have started, help us cooperate with You Lord Jesus!

Remember scripture is our guide, the final word! Jesus told us we are the light of the world, a city on hill is the church. Many who cal themselves Christians and many Intercessors are committed, connected to a local church, them all have excuses, but no matter the excuses they are disobeying Christ as are those who are involved sinfully in the church. Revival will come when there is true repentance by all . Intercession will only be effective by those who repent and faithfully pray Holy Spirit led, scripture fed worship based prayer. I am amazed still by the spiritually homeless who do not attend much less serve Christ’s bride, as there are no examples of Christians in scripture that are not part of a local church

Dear Intercessors for America,
Isaiah 58:1-12 [Amplifed Bible]
A Prophetic Word for us today? You decide. Certainly, a word of Encouragement for such a time as this.
As I was reading and praying this scripture, the passage presented itself to me in a powerful way.
There is no doubt that the “heartfelt prayer of a righteous man avails much and moves the heart of our Loving God.
What I ask you now is to pray the scripture in Isaiah 58 ask the Lord what is He saying to you right now, then consider putting feet to your prayers, that is; when you read the scripture, the prophetic word from the Prophet Isaiah in Chapter 58 ask yourself these (4) Four questions: (1)How will this change my city?, (2)My church, (3) My country, and (4) Me- for the BEST?
As you do please remember what is written to us in James 2:26 ” For just as the [human] body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works [of obedience] is also dead”
Ishaiah 58:1-12. [The Amplified Bible]
“(1) Cry aloud, do not hold back; Lift up your voice as a trumpet, And declare to my people their transgression And to the house of Jacob their sins.
(2) Yet they seek Me by day and delight [superficially] to know My ways, As [if they were, in reality], a nation that has done righteousness And has not abandoned (turned away from) the ordinance of their God. They ask me of me righteous judgements, They delight in the nearness of God.
(3) Why have we fasted,’ they say, and you do not see it? Why have we humbled ourselves and you do not notice?’ Hear this [O Israel] on the day of your fast [when you should be grieving for your sins you find something you desire] [to do], And you force your hired servants to work [instead of stopping all work as the law teaches. [Lev 16:29]
(4) The facts are that you fast only for strife and brawling and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You do not fast as you do today to make your voice heard on high.
(5) Is a fast such as this what I have chosen, a day for a man to humble himself [with sorrow in his soul]? Is it only to bow down his head like a reed And to make sackcloth and ashes his bed [pretending to have a repentant heart]?
Do you call this a fast and day pleasing to the Lord?
(6) [Rather] is this not the fast I choose, To undo the bonds of wickedness, To tear to pieces the ropes of the yoke, to let the opressed go free And break apart every enslving yoke? [Acts 8:23]
(7) Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked cover him, And not hide yourself from [the needs of’ your own flesh and blood?
(8) Then your light will break out like the dawn, And your healing (restoration, new life) will quickly spring forth; Your righteousness will go before you [leading you to peace and prosperity], The glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. [ Ex. 14:19, 20, Is. 52:12]
(9)Then you will call, and the Lord will answer: You will cry for help, and He will say, “Here I am.’ If you take away from your midst the yoke (of oppression), the finger pointed in scorn [toward the oppressed or the godly] and [everyform of] wicked (sinful unjust) speech, [Ex 3:14]
(10) And if you offer yourself to [assist] the hungry And satisfy the need of the afflicted, then your light will arise in darkness And you gloom will become as the midday.
(11) And the Lord will continually guide you, and satisfy your soul in scorched and places, And give strength to your bones; And you will be like a watered garden, And a spring of water whose waters do not fail.
(12) And your people will rebuild the ancient ruins; You will raise up and restore the age-old foundations [of building that have been laid waste]; You will be called Repairer of the Breach, Restorer of Streets with dwellings.”

Thank you Kim, for this important reminder to be praying for our cities. Oh, how we need a mighty move of God in the cities of our nation! By the mighty name of Jesus, I drop the Sword of the Spirit upon the spirit of Leviathan, the spirit of disorder, and the spirit of violence that have been spread by the enemy throughout our cities. Let a spirit of cooperation, order, and integrity replace these evil spirits .
Thank you, Jesus.
