Are Evangelicals Becoming Progressives?
In many areas, such as identity, sexuality, racism, and even biblical inerrancy, Christ’s church has been slipping. This calls for prayer.
From The Daily Wire. American evangelicalism experienced a seismic shift toward theological and social progressivism over the past two years.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
As revealed by Ligonier Ministries and LifeWay Research’s most recent State of Theology Survey — a biennial poll that tracks the beliefs of professing evangelicals and the overall adult population — the winds of the social justice movement appeared to sweep through the pews equally as strongly as the culture at large. …
Two years ago, for instance, only 22% of evangelicals agreed that “gender identity is a matter of choice” — a figure that has since increased to 37%. Only 11% affirmed that “the Bible’s condemnation of homosexual behavior doesn’t apply today” — a figure that has risen to 28%. …
Cultural battle over wokeness cascaded into evangelicalism after the death of George Floyd and the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Many pastors and high-profile evangelicals spoke in favor of critical race theory and posited that the United States is systemically racist, requiring patently unbiblical responses such as repenting of whiteness. As Ibram X. Kendi and Robin DiAngelo became household names, evangelical volumes such as “Woke Church” by Eric Mason and “How to Fight Racism” by Jemar Tisby began circulating in many church circles. …
Professing evangelicals likewise folded on historic Christian teaching with respect to matters of doctrine. Two years ago, 15% said that “the Bible, like all sacred writings, contains helpful accounts of ancient myths but is not literally true” — a figure that increased to 26% in the most recent survey. “A rising disbelief in the Bible’s literal truth may help us understand why American evangelicals also increasingly believe that religious faith is a subjective experience rather than an objective reality,” Ligonier continued. …
Although evangelicals in the United States have long faced the temptation to prioritize social activism and capitulate to theological liberalism, the turmoil of the past two years appears to have accelerated such a shift. …
“These results convey the ongoing need for the church to be engaged in apologetics, helping unbelievers by providing a well-reasoned defense of the Christian faith, and helping believers by strengthening their clarity and conviction regarding why they believe what they do,” Ligonier concluded. “The need is great, but the power and promises of God can equip the church to bring truth and light to a deceived and dark world.”

Indeed a great reminder in this article!! We must not relent in our intercession for the truth of the gospel of Christ. This has been a very effective battle plan of Satan in these latter days. Even in rural America this is widespread as it reveals the true hearts of our “rock star “ preachers.
Abba Father we appeal to your mercy. And that you would forgive our shallowness to simply appease. We stand and decree that Your TRUTH will prevail in America this day.. Amen
The watering down of God’s word goes back to the second and fourth centuries when when attempts to remove the original Jewishness of God’s holy word occurred. That led to Replacement Theology.
Replacement Theology put the spotlight on the false church, the same that Jesus came to save the people from.
Two among many excellent cases in point are attempting to read the book of God’s revelation to Jesus that was then dictated to John (read the first few lines), a decidedly Jewish theme. The other is when Peter was told to forgive 70 x 7 times which equals 490, a unique Hebraism that refers to a manner of forever-ness.
Father, thank You for sorting the Church, (Messianic Congregations / Ecclessia). Cause a massive revival to awaken many in the church who were deceived by deceiving spirits and lead them to salvation. In the matchless name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Amen.
Father, break the back of the enemy bringing these lying spirits into congregations, and silence the influence that is leading churches astray. Raise up members in every congregation where this is happening to challenge and correct this false teaching. Give them boldness and Holy Spirit FIRE to come against and secure victory for the kingdom. Bring the deceived to the truth, and repentance to those that have spread these lies. Cleanse YOUR churches, and prune away the false fruit!
Father, we ask that your church would come back to you and love your word. May pastors draw close to you and peach the truth. Give them a love of your word that they may lead their congregations to live it too.
Some members of our congregation seem to be yielding to the pressure of the times. Considerable pressure is coming directly from the governing body of the denomination. Sadly, for decades at the congregational level, there has been a systemic lack of teaching on the kingdom of God and biblical decision making. Also, there seems to be a lack of courage. But, without the conviction that can come from sound teaching, this should probably be expected.
Jesus’s words about belief and unbelief, “The one who believes in Me believes not in Me, but in Him who sent Me. And the one who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. I have come as a light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me would not remain in darkness. If anyone hears My words and doesn’t keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. The one who rejects Me and doesn’t accept My sayings has this as his judge: The word I have spoken will judge him on the last day. For I have not spoken on My own, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a command as to what I should say and what I should speak. I know that His command is eternal life. So the things that I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.” John 12
John 1:1-5
Hebrew 12:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us hold on to grace. By it, we may serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.
As I questioned the roots of progressivism, I found this:
“Because mankind is made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), he has the desire and the capacity to create what is progressively good and helpful. But, because of our fallen, sinful nature, we also have the tendency to create what is progressively evil and harmful (see Genesis 6:5). We have an insatiable appetite for more knowledge as a result of eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and that is our lasting legacy.”

and this:
The word evangelicalism is derived from the Greek words euangelion, which means “good news,” and euangelizomai, which means “to proclaim as good news.” This good news is that “Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve” (1 Corinthians 15:3b-5). This good news, which is the Gospel of Christ, and the preaching of it are what Evangelicalism was based upon.

Interesting contrast.
Dear Heavenly Father, I believe in YOUR WORD. I believe in the beginning, YOUR SON and our SAVIOR already existed. YESHUA was with YOU and HE IS GOD. HE existed in the beginning with YOU. Everything YOU created was through HIM and nothing was created except through HIM. I believe YESHUA gave life to everything that was created and HIS LIFE brought LIGHT to everyone. THE LIGHT shines in the darkness and the darkness can NEVER extinguish it. This is my prayer Lord, may THE LIGHT, no matter how dim, be ignited into a consuming fire…for Your Glory and our good. Amen
Father God help us bring the light of Your Glory in the church today. People are hurting and broken and empty and thirst for You. We are in need of fellowship. We’re in need of pastors standing up for the Truth. Many today including myself are unable to find a church because pastors are leaving out 20-30% of the Bible. Many being deceived. The church is weak and has fallen. God help us! In the precious name of Yeshua, Jesus my Lord and Savior, Amen ~
In 2 Timothy Chapter 4:10:
Paul was writing to Timothy, his son in the faith. “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica.” All won’t make Heaven! We can pray for GOD to have Mercy on them, and then keeping our eyes on CHRIST, move on! Many that are “woke” were not born again in the first place. I pray that our GOD gives HIS children discernment to judge between them that are with us and them that are not! Any clergy or so-called religious leaders standing for and with the filth of today IS NOT BORN AGAIN! Pray! Leave them with our GOD! Then MOVE ON! FATHER GOD please deliver the lukewarm and the turned back from the clutches of satan! Let them repent of their sin and be restored to YOU in JESUS MIGHTY NAME! Amen!
Matthew 24:24, ESV: For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
Christ won’t let his elect be deceived. We are seeing false prophets arise in the church along with deception in our pulpits.
This is the great apostasy and turning away of sound doctrine .
Gods plan is falling into place.
Awaiting his return
In the last days even the elect will be deceived. The harvest is plentiful but tge the workers are few. Give me that old time religion. Just as Josiah found the book of the law may the church find their Bibles and read them again.
