On Thursday, Pastor Mark Lee Dickson shared a critical and time-sensitive prayer request with the IFA community during Pray for America’s Leaders Live. Although the mayor and town council of Lubbock, Texas weren’t willing to outlaw abortion within city limits, the people had brought it to a vote. Here’s what we asked you to pray:
PRAY for overwhelming turnout and voting in Lubbock to support creating a sanctuary city for the unborn. It would be the first sanctuary city for the unborn that has arisen out of citizen demand! Your prayer can help this measure pass.

On Saturday, citizens of Lubbock, Texas, voted to make their town a Sanctuary City for the Unborn! With the passage of Proposition A, abortion will be illegal in Lubbock city limits. Lubbock is by far the largest city yet to pass this life-saving ordinance.
There is so much to praise God for in Lubbock.
- Planned Parenthood just began performing abortions on April 15, 2021 in Lubbock. God has stopped that.
- Unofficial vote counts indicate 62% voted for the ordinance banning abortion and 37% against. What a tremendous result!
- This ordinance empowers the people of Lubbock!
The ordinance will also allow residents to sue abortion providers and anyone else who assists a person obtain abortion services. Women seeking abortions are protected from penalties and not liable under the ordinance.
We can learn so much from these efforts in Lubbock. In fall of 2020, Lubbockites petitioned the Lubbock City Council to pass an ordinance making the community a Sanctuary City for the Unborn. Despite the calls from activists and locals, and the announcement that Planned Parenthood would begin committing abortions in 2021 within Lubbock city limits, the mayor and city council torpedoed the effort. Pro-Life Lubbockites therefore gathered enough petition signatures to have a referendum on the ordinance during this local election.
Lubbock is the largest town to become a Sanctuary City for Life.
Texas Right to Life Director of Media and Communication Kimberlyn Schwartz, a West Texas native and graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, responded to today’s vote:
We celebrate this Pro-Life victory and applaud the dedicated and inspiring work of activists, local leaders, and Lubbock citizens who brought the ordinance forward, pushed for a vote, and shepherded the Pro-Life policy across the finish line. Senator Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), Raiders Defending Life, Mark Lee Dickson, and so many others were instrumental in this effort.

Thank God for the people in the cities and states that are taking a stand for what is right. My Goddaughter became pregnant without benefit of marriage. She chose to have her baby. The baby was 7 months old last week. She is so beautiful and sweet-natured. Everyone who sees her loves her. There just seems to be something special about her. I’m her babysitter, and even though I’m 69 years old, and it’s difficult sometimes, I’m so thankful for her life. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day, and the thought occurred to me, “If there are no Babies, then no Mothers”. Let’s keep praying. God is moving.
Father,
I thank you for this victory in Lubbock, Texas. I pray for a Holy Spirit, biblical, cultural shift in Lubbock that will continue to stand in prayer for this community to be revolutionized by our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lord you talk about judgment day in your Word, that even cities will be judged, may Lubbock stand strong for the life of the unborn and even become a city on a hill full of light.
You said not to put our light under a bushel, but on a stand that it may give light to the whole house. Lubbock is doing that.
I pray you would maintain this victory in Lubbock, keeping your watchman on the wall and your gatekeepers alert until your return.
Seal this victory, put the enemy to flight, take the city for Christ, in Jesus’s Name.
Praise God for this victory on behalf of the unborn. I pray more major cities will become sanctuary cities for the unborn.

Praise God! What a tremendous encouragement for us to keep praying even against what seem to be insurmountable odds. If God is for us – who can be against us? Nothing can stand up against our God. When He says something is done, it is done! Thank you Jesus!
Thank you IFA! The news is many times not very encouraging but with the news you present a prayer that is so helpful. It not only feels like we are an army coming against the enemy, we are THE ARMY with God leading the way.

God is good and I am so joyful for this breakthrough. Other cities will follow in Jesus name. Babies are blessed and protected and I declare and decree psalm 91 that no evil will befall babies and America is standing for the unborn as this is our future and our arrows to meet the enemies at the gates. No weapon formed against the unborn will prosper. Abortion is bound and and life is loosed over America in reference to the unborn. People are and will continue to stand for the unborn. Planned parenthood is facing increasing resistance from the ekklesia and will fall and be decommissioned as in null and void.

May generosity and kindness flow towards women with unplanned pregnancies that there would be full provision for these mothers and children and God’s kingdom built on the resultant praise for His goodness!

The Kingdom of God is advancing and nothing and no-one can stop it. It’s like seeds of faith that have and are being planted and wherever you look, signs of life appear. Abundance of joy, righteousness, love, justice, provision, and protection.
We rejoice in this great victory, releasing the blessing of LIFE over Lubbock, TX.
Do you know how this happened? The churches of Lubbock made bold moves towards unity, and courageously came together on a large scale on this issue.
Is protecting the unborn a priority in your community? Ask the Lord to help you rally around it! Take steps of faith and be obedient to what the Lord would have you do. See what God can do with a church that comes together!
Praise God for these answered prayers that are changing our Nation. We are praying for many other answered prayers.

I praise the Name of Jesus Christ over Lubbock and all other cities preparing similar protection for the unborn. “Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” I pray those who are in league with darkness will be silenced and stilled in Lubbock and everywhere.

Hallelujah and praises to Almighty God. Prayer works! This is exceptionally good news. All lives matter and, this includes the unborn babies. They need a voice and to be shown compassion. Jesus loves the little children, and this includes unborn babies. This also means that mothers who want to abort their baby but do not because of this law, should have accommodations made for them as to what to do with the baby that they do not want when the child is born. Perhaps an orphanage created for these babies. We need to put a provision into the law for a place to put these babies when they are born so that they can be properly cared for and safe; especially from human traffickers, predators and people who exploit children.

I know that Your heart is that each one You created – and each one You have saved through the actions You inspired Lubbock to take – that Your heart is for each to be welcomed into a family with an earthly father and mother who loves You, and that each child You place in such a family be raised in the fear and admonition of Your ways, so that Your kingdom comes, Your will is done, and Your glory covers the earth, as the waters cover the seas.
Praise Your name Father🙌🙌🙌Nothing is impossible with You and All things are possible through You. Thank you to all the citizens that worked together to see righteousness arise in your community. Your commitment to life and liberty for the unborn in your community is a recipe for hope and what can happen when we stand together and take back the Territory for our Father🙌🙌you have pathed a pathway for other cities to kick the Spirit of death to the curb.
