I Prayed have prayed
Jesus, we ask You to help us see others through Your eyes and respond to rage with intercession.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

The spirit of rage has been unleashed like oil on a fire.

We see it in our families, our cities, our nation and across the globe. It is an indicator. It is not just anger, it is rage.

Don’t engage the rage.

When we see this, it is a call to prayer. It is important not to engage the rage, but to intercede. The rage is the same spirit seen in the Pharisees in biblical times. The root is pride, which then breeds the twins of offense and deception.

King Saul was completely engulfed in this spirit.

His pride as king turned to fear, offense, and deception regarding a trusted servant, David. It built within Saul until it released an uncontrollable rage against David that was completely unfounded. No matter what David did to show his honor to Saul, Saul was triggered and convinced that David needed to be removed and destroyed.

David didn’t engage the rage. In fact, he continued to honor Saul.

As you go about your day, you will no doubt encounter this rage at some time or another. It can rise up at the most unexpected moment and from the most unexpected source. But when that rage tries to engage you, don’t. Remember it is a call to prayer for the person and the situation.

Anger is simply an indicator.

Left unchecked, it will always turn to rage which blinds eyes to truth and works to bring about destruction.

Proverbs tells us that “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”

The Pharisees worked to destroy Jesus and remove him from the scene. They were completely convinced they were acting on God’s behalf and with “honor,” yet they were completely deceived.

How can we recognize this spirit? By its destructive force. Pride and jealousy seek to destroy people, relationships, and hope. It becomes a consuming force in the life of its host.

You cannot speak logic to those who operate in this spirit. Don’t try. Don’t engage the rage.

Rather, pray that the blinders will be removed and that pride would bow its knee. Also pray that peace, forgiveness, and wisdom would fill the place which pride vacated. For if the house is not filled with the things of the Spirit, the previous spirit will move back even stronger than before.

Yes, I have been enraged over the hijacking of our government by the Democrats who insist on funds to murder the unborn, argue and connive and scheme to do evil. This government has ruined education, lied to students in colleges and univerities, and specialize in lies. They have corrupted the Constitution, the Bill of Rights. Oh God, make the church a force for good and to stand for righteouness, no matter the cost.
Also, I pray for men and women who love You to serve once again in leadership positions through-out the halls of government and the schools, colleges and courts.
Amen

Jesus was enraged. Remember the scene in the temple. There are other times. Examples Matt 7:11,15. Part of the reason this country is in the mess its in is cuz Christians don’t come out strongly against what is happening to the American people. They will pray about it. We have a country full of Christians that do not even know how to pose a controversial or confrontational conversation. They are full of fear cuz they have no practice in confronting sin. I am a huge intercessor for this nation. I am first and foremost a prayer. But I have learned to get over fear and speak out the truth. Please don’t let people hide in corners and say their prayers cuz that is very comfortable, too comfortable for the good of the nation. We have many, I would venture to say, most pastors that do not confront what is going on in this country. 25 million Christians feel it’s not their place to get into the combative political arena, so they did not even bother to get informed and to vote. God gave us minds, mouths, and His Word. We have a responsibility to be enraged at what is being done to our nation and to Christians in this nation and around the world.

I believe the rage Jesus felt was different than the rage this article is talking about. I agree that we should have the rage Jesus felt – it’s righteous anger. Jesus also knew how to state His case calmly and shut the Pharisees up though they chose to remain blind. The Pharisees’ rage was pride and fear of losing their place. Their idols were comfort etc. The Holy Spirit has convicted me lately of my motives for praying – my idols are comfort and peace no suffering and I can get enraged because those things are threatened by blind people and my fellow believers who are not paying attention to what is going on , not being involved in politics by at least voting etc. That rage is not godly and is what the article is talking about. And He has shown me that 1 Tim 2:2 praying for authority so we have a peaceful and quiet life is so we can freely and easily share the gospel not just so I can have a nice life living for myself.

Yesterday I met up with that wicked spirit of rage regarding some piece of technology, and I hate to admit it, but I met that evil within myself. After I regained control and got calm, I repented and prayed very much to be free of this thing, which came from the childhood of an abused little girl who has spent most of my adult life in the same ugly ways. Now as I have grown in the grace of my Lord Jesus who loves me anyway, I have learned not to yield, but I’ve been forgiven for yesterday. I spent the evening after that repeating over and over, every time I thought of the incident, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!” There is great power in this, and the Holy Spirit honors this statement of truth from God’s Word.

In the Name of Jesus we renounce the spirit of rage in our nation. We speak to you spirit of rage and command you to let go of our nation and God’s children. We command you to go back to the pit of where you came from. Almighty God has given us authority over you!
We say Jesus is LORD over the USA.

He tells us to call the things that are not as though they are. Saints of God lets do that.
Let no darkness and negativity come from our lips.

This is confirmation of what seemed like a nightmare I had in the early morning hours of 4/17. I got up and immediately asked the Lord where that came from. He said, “Pray against a spirit of rage.” It was far worse than anger. We need to pray against that spirit throughout the world. satan’s plans aren’t working as effectively as he would like, and he is trying to throw demons of rage against us. he cannot stand against the unity of the brethren, the Name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus and the Word of God. Stand in the power of agreement. Submit to God, resist the devil, and he has to flee from you. Thank you for this article.

Father- Your Word says that you have not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. You know that much of the anger that is out there is due to fear because of job loss and some of the ways that governors are directing their states. Please help us as your children and church to seek your face. Father, we ask that You will turn people’s hearts to you. Help us to call on you in the day of trouble. Please give those who have power ears to hear the concerns of those who are being so negatively impacted. Please help those who are organizing protests to do so with care and civility. Give them creativity and help them to seek to have meaningful conversations with those who are in leadership. Father, this is so political sometimes and yet the outcomes affect all involved. May those leaders who know you seek your face for wisdom. Please direct their steps. May those who don’t know you realize that they will answer to you for how they are choosing to live and lead. Their rejection of you doesn’t negate that you are still Lord over all. Please make them aware of who you are- that you are the living God. You are the Creator and sustainer. Our very lives are in your hands. You are the One who has all that we need. Your kingdom come – Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Our Ministry is to Domestic Violence Victims, and the elderly, infirmed, and home-bound. There has been a huge increase of Domestic Violence
with this pandemic, but of more concern to us is the blinded eyes to the Elderly in Nursing facilities that are not being protected by those in
charge of their care. This is a silent anger and rage that is causing the death and life threatening illness of those the President’s Task Force
for this pandemic has ordered all to be aware of and especially to take care of. This has definitely, caused me to have some anger issues about,
and hopefully, the President or Vice-President are reading this and will work to make some changes to make those cared for in these Nursing facilities more accountable and make permanent changes in how States regulate and supervise, so that Seniors and their families can trust them not
to care more about profit than the duty to care for their patients.

I have encountered this evil spirit head on. My boyfriend took on this spirit. Rather than feeding it I decided to break it off with him as his unfounded accusations became a searing hate. I prayed for him without his knowledge. I thank you for printing this article because it has helped me to know more specifically how to pray against which spirits.

I pray in the Name of Jesus, the Name above every other name against the the spirits of pride and jealousy. I bind you and break your power over the people of this United States of America. I bind the spirits of fear, offense, deception and break your power overt he people of the United States of America. I bind and break the power of rage from over the people of the United States. In the name of Jesus I command the spirits of pride, jealousy, fear, offense, deception and rage to come off now and leave.

I pray the spirit of peace, the spirit of forgiveness and the spirit of God’s wisdom come and take the place in which pride and jealousy, fear and offense and deception and rage have sat. Fill O God the peoples with a sincere hunger for You and Your righteousness. Lead us in the way to go. This I pray. Amen

I pray that President Trump reads this article and realizes that the attacks on him from Pelosi, Schumer et al are just their inability to see truth because they are blinded by Satan and his hate expressed through anger and rage. May President Trump respond to these attacks by simply doing the best job he can for all Americans, regardless of their political party, and respond in the love of Christ (we are called to “love our enemies”). May people across America see this change in President Trump’s behavior and view him as the leader we need right now “for such a time as this” and vote overwhemingly to keep him President in November. Keep praying believers! Don’t let Satan win in your hearts, in your homes, in your lives, or in America! This is God’s Country and always will be!

Yes. I am sorry to say. I’ve been in a three month remodel that was supposed to take not more than three days. It was not be a of the virus but because of contractor working at least two jobs in the midst of mine. Through this my son got tangled up in it and blamed me for all of it. Sheesh. It was ugly. It’s amazing how the shield of the Lord is around us in times like this. I held my peace and felt that protection. But…as I rode to the store with my son he continued to barrage me with blasts from the past. It’s just exposing the need for healing he has regarding me from that time. So. Next I’m trying to get this item returned so as not to hold him up any longer..fear..and the store wouldn’t let me go in the door to take care of it because of virus. So I blew up saying I have been in here 3times and didn’t have all this. I’m ashamed but forgiven. And praying freedom for my son. Healing for his heart that I damaged all those years ago. P.S. my bathroom is done. 🥴but not until I hired another man to come do the rest of it. 👏💕

    Hi Jeane,

You were clearly able to recognize the spirit in each of these events which is half the battle. The other half is knowing how to pray which we have all been discussing on this thread of first binding the spirit of pride/jealousy and dealing with hurts and wounds of the past which are triggers. We have certainly all been in a place where we have blown up in anger and had to repent. So the good news is that you recognized what it was and repented. I had one of those opportunities this week as well! Not fun, but thankful for the grace that covers it and enables us to move beyond it. Blessings!

A really good scripture to stand on and pray out for your home is Isaiah 32:18, “My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.” In agreement with you for peace in your home.

I was an angry woman as a young mother. The Lord got my attention after I socked my 12 year old son in the arm, because of something he did. After telling my son and the Lord I was sorry, I asked Him where was this anger coming from. The next AM, as I opened my Bible to the next reading for the day, the words jumped off the page from Nehemiah 9:1,2 “The people confessed their sins AND THE SINS OF THEIR FATHERS”! That morning after I reflected on my own mother’s anger,I asked the Lord to not only forgive me, but to forgive my mom, AND CUT US BOTH free of the sin of our fathers. There was such healing that day. I started to observe behavior of my 75 year old mom.The older she got, the more loving and tender she was. What often happens to our aging parents is that the anger starts to explode when they can no longer control their feelings. Than never happen to mom. The Lord has also healed my anger.

Hi Marjorie, Thank you for sharing your testimony and how the Lord healed you from the things deposited on your from “the sins of the fathers.” I agree that it is very true that we can carry things on us from previous generations that affect us in the present. These are sins that carry a generational curse and remain connected to us until we recognize it and break it off from its advance. You also bring up another truth which is as people advance in age, areas in their life that have been stuffed down and not addressed or healed, will often come roaring to the forefront as they no longer have the mind/energy capacity to keep it stuffed down. It can emerge in so many different areas, but it is sad. That is why it is so important that we address these issues in our lives now, before they get to that place. Sometimes we have stuffed things down thinking they were healed, but Pandora’s Box will get opened eventually because God doesn’t want us stuffing things down, He wants to bring healing. Those are times when what looks like the absolute hardest thing we could ever face, can be turned to bring the greatest healing we could ever imagine. It’s all about going to the root with the Holy Spirit and letting him remove it, speak into it, and heal it once and for all! Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

My father is dead now but he left a horrible legacy of anger in my family. Even though he is dead, I must resolve myself to forgive him for his abuse while he was alive. The Lord dealt with my anger by telling me to get rid of it for it was placing sickness in my body. It is not easy but I am in a much better place of peace and I try not to associate with those given to anger as the bible says for it is a snare.
Lord I thank you for my deliverance and the deliverance of all of those who have suffered from rage and received rage from others. You will give us perfect peace if our minds are stayed on Thee. Bring peace and comfort and joy to those afflicted with this spirit of anger I pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Rage and anger has been in my family for generations, it’s even passed down to my niece/daughter and she’s only 9 years old. you can see that its mixed with pride and jealousy. My mom, sister, brother, and even my husband and children are operating under this spirit of rage as well. Please lift my family up in prayers for this spirit to be destroyed from its root in my families generation. I want my family to be free so they can experience the full freedom and salvation in Christ and walk in their destiny.

Hi Jessica, This definitely does get passed down through generational lines. I want to encourage you how to pray. The Bible tells us in Matthew 12:29 “Or again, how can anyone enter a strong man’s house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.”

The “strongman” is pride/jealousy. Offense, deception, anger, rage are simply minions that come along side that spiritual strongman. So we have to pray and go after the strongman and kick him out of the house and the rest of the minions will leave as well. I join you in prayer for your family and anyone else reading this, “Father we take our authority in prayer regarding our families and we declare as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. We say that the foot of pride will not come upon us. Where it has existed and taken root in my family members or in our generational line, I uproot it now in the name of Jesus and command it to go. I take authority over it and declare that greater is He that is in us than He that is in the world. Pride and jealousy I bind you from your continued operation in my family members (name them) and I command you to bow your knee and get out along with all your minions of offense, deception, anger, rage, and insanity. I declare my family is free from your work and we will remain free. I pray the blood of Jesus over my family and declare we have the mind of Christ and are renewed in the spirit of our minds which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. I declare over my family that our homes are a peaceable habitation and our minds filled with your peace. In Jesus’ name.

Bring each of her family members to the foot of the cross, to repent of their own sin, and then to receive Your forgiveness. Pour out abundent grace and kindness over them. Heal them of the generational sin patterns in their live. And we give you ALL the glory. Amen

    Father,
Thank You so much for always being there in the “secret place” to reveal Your heart and our true identities as Your children. Thank You for Your amazing character and the depth of Your love that reaches the innermost part of our souls continually to transform us into the likeness of Your Son. Father, we thank You for the ways in which You bring conviction of ways in which we have acted/reacted that are not of You. Thank You for walking us through confession, consciously choosing to turn from our carnal thoughts and wicked ways, seeking forgiveness, and receiving cleansing, healing and change. We recognize that we must take our thoughts captive to the obedience of Your Anointed Son and His Anointing, choosing thoughts that are honest, just, pure, lovely and of good report or virtue so that our resultant actions reveal Your goodness and Your dominion in our lives. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for inspiring and empowering us during this process as we choose to let go of those things, especially those related to jealousy and pride, that hinder us from manifesting Your radiance. I am asking for continued revelation of our identities, purposes and destinies for all of us, including Jessica and her family members as we choose to abide in and with You in the secret place so that others will ONLY see the good works ordained by You in which we CHOOSE to walk so that others will see them and glorify YOU!. We love YOU FATHER and come to You as Your children by appropriation of the great sacrifice of Your Son, Our LORD JESUS. Amen.

I plead the BLOOD of JESUS over the anger and rage that seemingly has a grip in your life. JESUS paid it ALL on the Cross. Those things that bind us up like anger and rage have been broken! I pray in JESUS mighty name that you will receive Freedom in your heart and mind about this. God is good and please don’t be angry with HIM. HE said we would have trouble but HE has overcome ALL the trouble. Please lay your anger in the offering plate of your mind. In Jesus name!

Scripture tells us that we must die to sin (Romans 6:11), die to the flesh (Romans 8:13, Galations 5:24) and die to self (Galations 2:20). Knowing that our old self was crucified with Christ(Rom 6:6), we also know that dead men don’t feel pain and definitely can’t be offended. If I find myself entertaining thoughts of being offended, that may be an area of my life where there is pride and some part of me has not submitted to death. Its time to repent. We can label our anger with names that seem more acceptable for a Christian like “resentment.” I’ve heard it said that, “Resentment is simply unfulfilled vengeance.” It does not seem so innocuous defined in this way.

Hi Sandra, I agree with Paula Key. Also another really good book is “Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship” by Jack Frost. There is a root that needs to come out. Anger and rage are simply indicators of a deeper issue which usually goes back into our past with something from our dad, mom, authorities in our lives or siblings. Those wounds can paralyze into the past. Also I encourage you to scroll up to the prayer I wrote for Jessica. You need to bind the strongman that is tied to your root. If there is unforgiveness you need to repent and get it out. Pride/Jealousy are almost certain to be in there as a strongman if you peel back the layers. It can be hard, and it is a process. But you can get there to get this healed and removed from your life because you have the desire to do so, the Holy Spirit can guide you along the path to that deeper healing. I will be praying for you.

Lord, begin with me, begin with your people. Lord, help us separate principalities and spiritual wickedness from people. Lord, I can be enraged at certain politicians. I pray for a spirit of humility and to know the real enemy. Help me and my fellow brothers and sisters to humble ourselves and pray and turn from our wicked ways so you may heal our land. We pray against the spirits of pride, entitlement, rejection, anger, angst, and rage to be bound in Jesus’ name. Heal those who have experienced its path of destruction. Deliver those who harbor these demons. Bring us peace and safety in this nation and in our world. As this land and this world are being shaken, be lifted up and draw all men to a saving knowledge and revelation of You. Be glorified! Be magnified! We pray this in Jesus name! Amen!

My daughters and I lived with RAGE by my spouse. I tried to shield and protect the daughters as best I could sending them to a bedroom, saying stay here until your father’s RAGE passes. I closed the door. I could not divorce because I remembered what was said in the gospel. Soooo, I desperately tried to preserve the family unit. Furniture and food flying, broken class, road rage, foul language, name calling, swearing even using God’s name he would swear, calling me names with foul language etc etc. Sometimes, he would make a face like an angry animal. The RAGE was on again, off again like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde as they say. It was a very confusing existence for my daughters and me. I became very SAD too. My mistake was I did engage the rage, trying to reason with words but it was impossible I see now. I should have done more than send the daughters to their room. I should have taken the daughters outside of the house and get away from the scene! I wasn’t smart enough to do that and I am so sorry I wasn’t smart enough to flee the house with the daughters but told them just stay here in a bedroom until your father’s RAGE passes. I would search psychology type books from library and book stores trying to figure out why my husband would be VIOLENT over silly things. The daughters are adults now on their own and survivors. They survived but we all suffer with bad memories of VIOLENCE. Please pray the bad memories will go away. He is in his mid seventies now. Only God knows WHY he was so RAGEFUL and VIOLENT with two daughters in the home. Please pray. God bless you. Thank you.

Carol my heart goes out to you and your daughters for what you endured. When we endure such abuse, we then build protective walls around our hearts and emotions. While they protect us in the moment they also keep out good relationships and interactions as we go through the rest of life. Those are the areas God wants to heal. Some really good books for healing include: “Boundaries” by Henry Cloud and John Townsend and “Spiritual Slavery to Spiritual Sonship” by Jack Frost. Don’t be afraid to look at the pain. In order to heal we often have to go back to those areas and memories with the Holy Spirit and let him reveal to you where he was in those situation and remove the pain. I guarantee you He was there and has something to say about it to you. Lord I pray for Carol and her two daughters and ask for your healing power to flow into these deep wounds and hidden pain from the past. I ask that the abusive words that were spoken over them be broken off now in JEsus’ name and that the replay of those tapes in their minds would also go. Help them to see themselves as You see them. Help them to see where you were in those situations and give them understanding of who they are in Christ and healing in their identity of who you have called them to be. Thank you that you that You are our healer in Jesus’ name amen.

Thank you for this article. Yes I have experienced this rage / anger. I was awake this morning early, to a point I didn’t want to pray. I came before the Lord and asked for forgiveness. Trying times for sure. I am thankful for a loving Father who never leaves us…Thankful for the body of Christ to keep us accountable.
