I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for our law enforcement officers around the country. Protect them physically and mentally from all the evil they have to endure daily as they keep us safe.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

This is the hardest thing I have written.

I grew up in a law enforcement family. My father worked his way up to the rank to Captain at the Ft. Smith (AR) Police Department. As I kid I remember going with him on Friday to pick up his check and I was in awe of these super heroes he worked around.

They were funny and fun to be around. Men and women of all races all with the same mission, to make the community safer.

My dad sacrificed a lot and so did my late mother. Whether it was the week long surveillance or wiretap or chasing drug runners across the country, he gave it all for my family and worked plenty of extra details to never let our family be without. Some would call that privilege but where I grew up, it was called hard work.

The kids at school thought it was cool what my dad did and while he sometimes asked me if anyone gave me a hard time, they never did. There was a respect among all….even the kids in shop class.

I didn’t grow up wanting to be a cop but one fateful night, as a freshman in college, that all changed.

I went on a ride along and my life’s journey would never be the same.

After four years of college my dad wanted me at an agency that respected that education so I moved to Tulsa (OK) at 21 years old and never looked back.

I didn’t know anyone and all I knew was what I saw my dad do, work hard and treat people with respect. I saw a lot of other cops working hard as well and doing all they could to keep the community safe.

27 years has passed and if you would have told me the condition of law enforcement today, I would have never believed you.

It’s not that law enforcement has changed for the worse but everything around it has.

The mentally ill used to get treatment and now they just send cops. Kids used to be taught respect and now it’s cool to be disrespectful.

Supervisors used to back you when you were right but now they accuse you of being wrong in order to appease crazy people.

Parents used to get mad at their kids for getting arrested and now they get mad at us.

The media used to highlight the positive contribution our profession gave to society and now they either ignore it or twist the truth for controversy to line their own pockets.

There used to be a common respect among criminals. If they got caught, they understood you had a job to do but now it’s our fault they sit in handcuffs rather than their own personal decisions.

If someone attacked a cop, they were seen as such. Now we martyr them and sue for millions.

We used to be able to testify in court and we were believed. Now, unless there is video from three different angles, no one cares what you have to say.

With all this talk about racism and racist cops, I’ve never seen people treated differently because of their race. And while I know that cowards that have never done this job will call me racist for saying it, all I’ve ever seen was criminal behavior and cops trying to stop it and they didn’t give a rip what their skin color was.

I’ve seen cops help and save any type of race, gender or ethnicity you can think of and while that used to mean something, no one cares anymore.

I’ve been called every name you can think of and many of them with racial overtones and it’s never come from cops. I’ve watched African American cops take the brunt of this and even talked one rookie out of quitting after he was berated by a lot of cowards that had the same skin color as him

I’ve heard words I never heard before being a cop.

Uncle Tom, Cracker, Pig and the N Word just to name a few. I’ve heard them thousands of times and never once did I see a police officer retaliate.  They just took it.

Despite that, it’s been the greatest opportunity of my life to do this job. I would have recommended it to anyone and I secretly hoped one of my kids would do it one day.

They would have been a 4th Generation Cop.

But today, all of that is over. I wouldn’t wish this job on my worst enemy. I would never send anyone I cared about into the hell that this profession has become.

It’s the only job you can do everything right and lose everything.

It’s the only job where the same citizens you risk your life for hate you for it.

It’s the only segment left in society where it’s cool to discriminate and judge, just because of the uniform you wear.

You never get to explain.

You can never reason with them.

The nasty words have now turned into rocks and bottles and gunfire.

I’ve watched it happen to those around me and I have seen the total destruction of their life.

This job is a walking time bomb and you could get cancelled or prosecuted on the very next call, even if you do everything right.

No profession has to deal with that.

Doctors kill 250,000 people a year. They call them “medical mistakes” because society understands that they do a very difficult job under high stress and they must make the best possible decision in the moment.

Law enforcement is tasked with the same and we are highly successful. Despite the most violent society we have ever seen, less than 1,000 suspects are killed a year. 96% are attacking us with weapons and all but a few others are attacking us with their cars or their fists and more and more with simulated guns so Benjamin Crump can help their family win the lottery.

I’ve seen cops risk their own lives when they shouldn’t have…….just to keep from taking one.

They never get the credit that other professions get.

Cowards are all around us. From chiefs to sheriffs to politicians, no one has our back.

Now, the little we have, we are told they are going to defund us or even abolish us. Citizens with a political agenda will reign over us and all you have to do is wake up and put on a uniform to be a racist.

This weekend I received death threats for just doing my job. It would have been outrageous a decade ago and made national news.

Now, it’s just a Monday.

There will be more threats, more accusations of racism and more lies told about us.

I used to talk cops out of leaving the job. Now I’m encouraging them.

It’s over America. You finally did it.

You aren’t going to have to abolish the police, we won’t be around for it.

And while I know most Americans still appreciate us, it’s not enough and the risk is too high. Those of you that say thank you or buy the occasional meal, it means everything.

But those of you that were silent while the slow turning of the knives in our backs happened by thugs and cowards, this is on you.

Your belief in hashtags and memes over the truth has and will create an environment in your community that you will never expect.

If you think Minneapolis will turn into Mogadishu and that is far from you, it’s coming.

And when it does, remember what your complicity did.

This is the America that you made.

This is so sad that all police are given a bad rap because of a few bad ones. It’s not right and soon we will be living in anarchy if people don’t stop protesting and looting/burning and destroying anything they can. Get off the streets, go get a job and stop this childish mob behavior. There aren’t many peaceful protests anymore. And if they start out peacefully someone will make sure it turns ugly! Wake up and see how your actions are destroying everything we worked so hard to build. I pray God will intervene soon and he will sort out the sheep from the goats and those who are bad will be paid back for all their evil. If you don’t believe me get a Bible and read about the end of the world!

I am very saddened by your article. But I know it is the truth! I am 72 and I was raised to respect authority especially the police. I am praying for the police and all of our nation and world to be healed. Thank you for your service. Just know that God is in control and he has already overcome. Perhaps it has gotten so bad and the devil has overplayed his hand with letting the children of darkness step into the light. I believe an awakening and the blinders will drop off of the Christians in America and they will see these people for what they are. They will pray and turn back to God and he will heal our land. Prayers for your safety.

There was going to be a Pro-Police March in Nevada this past Saturday, but it had to be cancelled because the NAACP made a threat to the organizer. They threatened that there would be violence. This is true. What a shame that we have reached a time in our country when it’s dangerous to show support for law enforcement. We all should show our support privately and when we see a police officer, say thank you for serving and helping to keep us safe. Maybe we can give some of them encouragement, but I can’t blame them for leaving right now. Let’s keep praying for God’s intervention to put down this evil spirit of lawlessness.

I am so so sorry to read this article. It is aweful the way the police force staff are treated. Yes there are a few that need to take some time off because they are burnt out. But on the whole they are PEACE OFFICERS.
The way things are handled now is so different than say 15 years ago. It is not right,
God forgive us for allowing things to get this bad.
We must stand up for righeousness and vote for leaders who love their country and want to make it the best place on earth to live.
My Grandpa was police cheif in my home town and it was a respected position. We used to call them PEACE OFFICERS…ones who would help a person in trouble and do their best to get them back on track.
Society today has gone wacko…NO GOD. NO TRUTH. NO RESPECT. GOD help us get back on track and make America safe again.
I am writting from Canada and we need help here to.
The officers need to know what an honor it is to work as a PEACE OFFICER.
We are to pray for those in authority…the judicial department, the medical staff, the clergy, the teachers, and the government leaders. No more crooked people is places of authority. Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR HOUSEHOLD. GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL.

It is amazing that people can be so ignorant that they would deliberately try to harm or disrespect the very people who undertake with all their hearts to protect them. I am astounded, saddened, bewildered! Surely, surely this madness will be stopped. Supidity has gone to seed. I cannot blame you for being bitter, I can only ask your forgiveness for many of my fellow men. I will be sure to pray for you and your family. Please turn to the only One who can help you and give you peace, He loves us, past this madness, as He was cruicified unjustly. This isn’t right; but He will help you. He will have to take us through it. God bless you, sir.

To show your appreciation and gratitude to all the good police officers out there–
I would suggest you go to your local Dunkin’ Donuts and buy a dozen donuts and a large container of coffee (they will provide you with cups, milk, sugar all packaged nicely) and drop it off to your local Police Station and tell them you are thinking of them.

My heart is hurt when I read what I know is a true report on the condition of America. I do believe that the media and lawyers have a exacerbated the problems of our police. Granted, there have been incidences of racism and abuse in Police departments across the nation. This is such a complex issue. It is grievous that fine men who desire to help protect people have become a target of media, lawyers and politicians. The media is at fault in two specific ways: 1. Television programs that glorify violence, hatred, rebellious behavior and disrespectful dialog. (or make it funny rather than abhorrent) 2. Reporting news with a bias slant in favor of perpetrators rather than victims; with the assumptions that the Police somehow failed. Also because of our litigious society that encourages people to sue for money, lining the pockets of lawyers and giving them notoriety, in any instance of perceived harm. We have lost “neighborliness” which gives grace when small offenses occur. It is the response of greed in our national character. All of these issues combined with professional politicians whose aim is to keep their careers by accommodating the loudest constituents, right or wrong, thus not standing for truth, just for being reelected. I wholeheartedly that the Church has been negligent in it’s responsibility to pray according to 1 Tim 2:1-3 God have mercy on us. I pray that we return to Him. He is our only hope.

Father God, Thank you for the positive changes that are coming about in law enforcement in Jesus name.
Thank you sir for your point of view. Thank you and your father for your service to your communities. I pray that the The blue wall of silence, also blue code and blue shield be no more and that the good cops turn in the bad ones who are racist, commit police brutality and murder. God I believe and know not all police officers are evil or bad. I do know when good cops or people do nothing this played a negative role in our country and current events. I pray the church, our government leaders, police forces and all people will do what is right in the sight of God as it relates to policing our communities. Father God I ask that you minister and heal the hearts of those police officers who are hurting over these events and faithfully serving our communities. God I pray you save the soul of the policemen who hate and mistreat people of color. I pray and decree the bad cops depart/leave and the good cops stay on and join the police force. In Jesus name. Amen

I am so disheartened by what I have seen and our Troopers and Police are treated so badly by lethal people.
My past husband was a State Trooper and my daughter became a State Trooper and then a BCI investigator. She is now retired a young woman. She loved her work but said, things have changed so much toward law enforcement and other things that she was happy to be out of that profession. We had 2nd generation State Troopers. I feel so sick to my stomach as to how law enforcement are treated. Something has to happen. These Mayors are acting ridiculous and they are not hearing.
Our Law Enforcement need to step up to the plate and ready to go. I felt sad over George Floyd. He had a criminal record and yet was hailed as a King. The Police Officer went to far and Floyd died at his hand. The other 3 there with him could have stopped the cop. They didn’t! It is a fearful thing after the scare of Coronavirus to see these violent protests. Some are peaceful and quite but mostly violent protesters out to do harm. The hands of our Police Men and Women can not be tied. We need our Law Enforcers. Instead of this crazy idea of them being defunded they need huge raises and more police hired. I feel at present the National Guard needs to be let go to bring order. I have great respect for our Law Enforcement. I always have.

We Christians may be at fault here:

Are we individually and are our Churches regularly praying in accordance with 1 Timothy 2:1-3?

1)”First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men
2) for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity.
3) This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.” I Timothy 2:1-3

When we join together in Worship Services and Prayer Meetings are we regularly praying for all those in authority over us, for our police officers and for our fire men and armed forces?

If not, it is no wonder that we are not leading the tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity which would be good and pleasing in the sight of GOD our Savior.

Prayerlessness is a serious sin often with terrible consequences.

Father we thank You for this heartfelt message. Father, You give authority and Lord I pray for those in authority to submit themselves to You, to make You Lord over their lives and I pray You will give wisdom to healing the inadequacies of this chosen profession. I pray for our President as he bring about reforms, may they glorify You. Father, the day seems so dark, but You are light. We pray You would hear our prayers and heal our land in the name of Jesus. Amen

Couldn’t agree more. This reminds me of those who sacrificed in Viet Nam for us here at home and came home to insults and worse. How could we possibly blame police who give up the profession when they are treated with such disdain? May God help us see our own folly and turn from it.

How do the cops who are staying feel about the restructuring to relieve some of the burden off the police force? Can you help the local government understand what you need to make your force more successful? If you give up you leave the public vulnerable to a compassion-less government that whats you out of the way. We do not want you to go. Most people understand you are overworked and under represented. Fight for the right to streamline your force and delegate the jobs you shouldn’t be doing to other agencies that want a chance to help. Please.

I am so sad for the police in the states. I know what this officer says is true as my
husband was an officer before he died. It is a very hard job and takes it toll on the
officers. I am sorry this officer has to leave the force but I do not blame him. My
heart is sad for the police and this nation. I pray to God for His Intervention and bring
us to our knees for help.

Great rendition & spot on, but it breaks our hearts. This is senseless, blind stupidity that is eroding the America we have loved for 80 years. Do we blame you? Absolutely not! Are there some bad apples? Of course. But the overwhelming majority are honest, kindhearted, dedicated, hardworking & outrageously brave. We love our law enforcement officers & hate what is happening. How can we help? Is it too late?

I’m truly both saddened and burdened by the truth of what was shared in this message. To know someone who was a dedicated servant of the people and the uniform they wore reach a point where they have nothing left to give because the leadership and the government around them is or has continually failed them. To watch as decades of elected officials create policies that hurt the very servants that try to help us. God forgive us for our apathy and for electing and/or allowing the wrong people to dictate policy and law. Help us Lord. Direct each of us and show us individually how we can help to steer this nation and the people back to the place where we respect and honor and appreciate you Lord, your laws and the rule of law in our land. Amen.

Father God,
Thank you for raising up the police as your ministers of justice. I bless them in the mighty name of Jesus. I pray you will refresh them and protect them and keep them from bitterness and hopelessness. During this time of hatred against them may they turn their hearts to You, may they see it was You who called them to be policeman and You who have protected and equipped them. Many haven’t acknowledged You, but may they hear Your voice now in their despair and see the nail-pierced hand of Jesus reaching down to them to lift them up and save them. Many didn’t know to say thanks to You for protecting them and yet You still did it. May their hearts repent for not acknowledging and following You and may they turn to You in faith and love and hope in Jesus’ name.

Thank you for your service and heartfelt comments. What you have expressed, and experienced,is sadly true. We have three LE in family, latest one is grandson whom I asked why are you risking your life in this way when such disrespect and hatred for police officers? His answer:. Because I care and hope to help those in need, someone has to do it; I am willing. So, people, don’t you dare put all cops in the racist or vicious category, even though there are some as in every career;. But a few bad examples doesn’t identify all. And I say that for all mankind, every race, color; each one is a special creation, each with choices/ freedom to choose how to live. Let’s focus on loving, forgiving, uniting, encouraging one another. Let’s wake up and realize who is truly the enemy and thank those who choose to continue risking their life for you and me to maintain some order in society.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ Name, restore in all the respect and thankfulness for the awesome work the
police do to protect the lives of citizens. Remove the focus from the “bad” cops to all those who
lay their life on the line daily. Forgive us for taking what they do for granted, and the burden on the family members of men and women who have committed to doing such dangerous work. I am heartsick, Lord, that they have to take such abuse while doing their jobs. Please send down your mercy, grace, encouragement, and protection
on all who police our nation and world against forces of evil. You are Sovereign, Lord. God bless all those who protect and keep our communities and world safe. Amen

My husband has been a police officer for 34 years. He has always put the safety of those he was hired to protect above himself. He carried out his duties to the best of his ability each and every day. It breaks my heart to see how the police officers have been portrayed as the “bad guy” now. The Lord warned us that in the end day they will call good evil and evil good. We are watching that unfold before our eyes. I will continue to pray each day for these brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day to protect us. We need you!

I do believe there are racist cops out there. Those need to go. But for everything else you say is the truth. Most of the deaths that these protesters are protesting about, the criminal resisted arrest. If they had not, the ending story might had changed. When someone is pulled over or getting arrested, I do not know why they just can’t do what the police officer says and keep their mouth shut until they get to the police station and get a lawyer if needed. If this would happen, we may not be her today. Kids have lost respect for authority. When a child goes to school and tells a teacher, they do not have to do what they said because they are not their parent or their parent told them this, we have lost. Cops do not make enough to put their lives in the line of fire everyday and put up with what they have to put up with everyday. We have cops that arrest people and then the liberal judges let them out on a small bail amount. Next thing you know, they are being arrested again for the same crime or this time for killing someone. This has got to be frustrating for our law enforcement.

Sadly enough, there are some who did exactly what they were told, and are not here today to tell their story. I know there are good policemen. I have several in my family. We are black and believe it or not, they do suffer backlash from all sides. We need policemen. We need law and order. We need good men and women who know what their jobs mean. Kinda hard, though, when a black man, unarmed, gets shot in the back, running for his life, and the officer felt her life was in danger. Kinda hard, though, when a person gets pulled over and killed for not lowering his headlights to oncoming traffic. Bottom line: IT’S A HEART PROBLEM. The heart is the seat of emotion. What’s in will certainly come out. God Judges the heart. He says the heart is desperately wicked. Who can know it? ‘I AM’ CAN. BLESS HIS HOLY NAME!!!

This grieves my heart deeply! My dad was retired military and retired from the Police Department. We went through the 1960s and they were called pigs then and we turned it into an acronym for PIGS- standing for Pride, Integrity, and Guts!
My father was CALLED to his mission.
If there are any policemen/women reading this…please do not leave the police force if God has placed you there. He is with you and will show you when or if you are to leave. He will NOT let you or your family down. The Bible backs this up. The forces behind you are MORE than those who are against you…even though you cannot see them!
There are those, like myself, interceding in prayer battles for you.
There is an election coming and the forces of evil are going full throttle to get their people into power. It could get hotter.
“Dear Lord, we pray with all of our hearts and souls for these fine men and women on the police force in America. Speak to them ,Lord…let them know you are there for them and that you will fight for them. Speak, please, to the ones fighting in their own strength so that they will come to know you as their empowerment! Help them all to know they are loved by you and by so very many of us! Hear our cry, O Lord! Please hear our cry for these men and women on the front lines in America. They ARE NOT ALONE, even when it feels that way!! Man may and will let them down. but YOU WILL NOT!”
(Also, I speak from many years of experience from walking this walk…and through many dangerous places.)

My heart breaks for you and your family. It is truly unconscionable that the small minority of “bad eggs” in this nation seem to be controlling things. Where fault lies does not matter at this point – the blame game does nothing to help the situation. What is needed is a true repentance and turning of the hearts of the individual, the family, the city, the state, and ultimately the nation, for turning our backs on the ways of God. They may be full of paradox (go low to be exalted, give to receive, love enemies…) but when followed, the way to blessing and peace is opened. Jesus said, “For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.” Those in your field of police work and the military are called to that level of commitment on a daily basis and the stress can be overwhelming for the individual and the family. Jesus was mocked, spit upon, scourged, and murdered for speaking truth. Things haven’t changed much in that regard, unfortunately, but what has changed is the final outcome of those who embrace Him and His ways – eternal life with no more fear, tears, pain, or trouble! I will be praying for you.

This is sad, far more so than mere words can express. I appreciate our police and am thankful for them and they know that most people tell this way. But unfortunately, their job has become too dangerous for them and their families. The fact that some police leaders are bowing to so called “political correctness” and those with evil intentions is even worse than the threats from outside the departments. My prayer is to encourage and strengthen, comfort and love on each one of these in blue and give them peace and a joy that can only come from You… protect and heal their broken hearts today even in the midst of Paul and Silas times… thank You Father for never leaving us alone… In Jesus Name, I pray Amen.

My thanks goes to ALL policemen fir doing the thankless job they d every day. Though I have personally encountered a disrespectful policeman, I KNOW THAT IS THE EXCEPTION. Unfortunately certain politicians seem to have found a “whipping boy” they can abuse for their own political gain. My question is: why the hell doesn’t our society see through this political CHRADE???
Finally, I say to those who constantly accuse policemen, as Jesus said to those who brought the adulteress before him, “let he who is without sin throw the first stone.” We know what happened next. If you don’t, perhaps you should pick up a Bible and look it up or just Google it.

I also pray to be able to do something to help that change. It’s hard to know how to advocate for change from my not really a town in nowhere Pennsylvania. But I pray to find that answer. I thank every single law enforcement officer for the impossible job set before them. Met God walk with you every day.

I am so sorry that Policemen are targeted so much abd thier lives threatened..Things have radically changed.. i grew up in the Islands and police there as well was so respected…Not anymore though…..I think what has happened is that “unjustified targeting of black men in America has become the norm..”Things have gotton our of hand as no one except blacks were carying the weigh of these murders..lynching and disparity ….It was allowed to keep happenings while white America became tone deaf to the cry of black mothers….I think we cant just say it happened just like that….It happened because no one treated the minor cut..Now its a international sore that has to be lanced….While the Church sat by and did nothing….We must pray and fast for true change to occur and ask for Gods devine direction…In Jesus name..Amen

The only racism I’ve seen is the people screaming racism!
Our law enforcement does a wonderful job!

At the bottom of the article there’s a dark blue tab that says “share.” Click on there and it easily lets you send it through email or on Twitter or Facebook. I did all three! I consider this a “must read!”

For us to have liberty, we must have a strong law enforcement. God help us if that gets messed up. We need to pray for my son who in on the front lines of law enforcement in a high crime area. Some body’s baby has to do it. If it is now your baby, please pray for mine. If your baby is next to mine in this war, let’s pray for safety, wisdom and protection for each other’s children. God bless and keep them all.

My heart breaks for the police men and women who have risked their lives for us. I’m so so sorry and praying fervently that God will intervene in this mess. And praying He will encourage and minister greatly to your hearts. You are highly appreciated!
