I Prayed have prayed
Thank You, God, that our hearts remain steadfast and our eyes are upon You in every storm. Thank You for walking with us through everything that comes our way. We rejoice in Your faithfulness.
Reading Time: 5 minutes

In the past few weeks, my city has endured severe storms that took down numerous trees and left thousands without power. What has been most astounding to me about these storms is that they came out of nowhere. Normally, we can know from local news media whenever a storm is predicted — days and sometimes weeks in advance. But these past few storms came with no predictions of rain or storms in our area. Each time, we were unaware of the approach of any storm until mere hours, sometimes moments, before it hit. The last one came while we were still an hour from home. That morning I had checked the weather report, which said sunny and 92; little did I realize that a severe storm was headed in our direction.

Get involved in state level prayer with IFA.

Though there was no weather alert about this latest storm, when I stepped out of my vehicle a couple hours before, I noticed that the wind felt strange. I remember thinking to myself: “What’s up with this wind?”

That was my first clue — one that went unheeded.

About an hour later, a man from that area was saying that there were announcements of severe storms heading to the city. My daughter, Breanne, and I just looked at each other. “Did you know storms were predicted today?” I asked. She shook her head no. My second warning was clear, and I began watching the skies for any signs of a coming storm. I watched and I listened — something I’d learned a few years before.

Several years ago, our local weather station was predicting rain in our area. Knowing this, my daughter and I stopped at the auto parts store to buy new windshield wipers to replace hers while it was still sunny outside. Once she had her purchase in hand,  we walked to her truck and she started replacing her wipers. Brailee, who was 3 or 4 at the time, climbed in the back of the truck to play while her mom worked. The sun was shining brightly, and there were no signs of rain.

Suddenly, I heard a noise. It was loud and fast-approaching. “What is that?” I questioned. When I realized what it was, I grabbed Brailee and put her inside the truck. I yelled for Breanne to get in. I was hearing a downpour! Before we could get inside the vehicle, it was upon us. We were drenched.

In that moment, the Lord began to speak to me. He took me to the place in 1 Kings 18 when Elijah says: “… there is the sound of abundance of rain.” To my knowledge, I had never heard that sound before that day — the sound of abundance of rain. I must say, it was awesome to hear and to relate to Scripture!

Where I live, if I’m seated on my back porch swing, I can see a wooded area to the right of my house. To my left, there are woods about a quarter mile away. Because of these woods, when a storm or heavy winds are approaching, I can sit on my porch swing and watch the trees blow and hear the winds from afar several moments before I feel the effects. I can tell when it is coming my way.

Today, as I sat on my back porch watching the storm come in, the Lord took me back to that day at the auto parts store, when I could hear the abundance of rain coming. He said: “The sound was your sign.”

Let’s look at the scriptures to which I’m referring:

Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.”

Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ” Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel (1 Kings 18:41–46 NKJV).

First, Elijah said he heard the sound of an abundance of rain before he prayed — before he heard the sound with his physical ears. Second, even though he heard rain in his spirit, he continued to pray until he began to see evidence. He didn’t stop praying just because he sensed something in his spirit.

He “heard” the sound of something coming! He picked it up in his spirit. He couldn’t see it or touch it, but he knew it was coming! He bowed before the Lord, and he prayed.

Seven times he sent his servant to look for rain. Even though six times the servant saw nothing, Elijah continued to bow and pray. On the seventh time, though, the servant reported seeing a cloud the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea. In that moment, Elijah knew he had better run, or the rain would overtake him. He heeded the first sound and was prepared before the rain came.

I can sense something coming. I have felt it for weeks. I have tuned my ear to the Spirit of God, listening for the sound, for the warning of the rain to come. God will have His way in our nation. He will redeem our land. His word and His promises will not fail; they will come to pass. The Enemy doesn’t like this truth, and he will do everything in his power to stop it — even if that causes a storm. But we can be prepared for every storm that comes our way, if we listen for the voice of God.

We will all face storms at some time in our lives, whether nationally or personally. God doesn’t want us to be unprepared or caught off guard. Through these sudden, unpredicted storms in my area, I have learned to stay diligent and to make sure I have backup electricity, flashlights, water, and whatever else I need to ride out the storm. This gives me peace and assurance and enables me to sleep through the storms.

God wants us to have peace in every storm — just as Jesus did. He will give us signs to help us prepare for any storms that  lie ahead. I believe these sudden storms in my area have been among those signs. He is showing us (or at least me) that storms can pop up without warning. We must remain steadfast during these times by staying in His word and listening to Him.

Storms may come, but we can walk through them in faith by remembering His promises to us. No weapon formed against His people shall prosper (see Isaiah 54:17). Whatever the Enemy means for our harm, God will turn for our good. Make no mistake: I am excited about the coming rain! I am listening for His voice, watching for His signs, and being steadfast in my faith through every season. How are you preparing?

The Lord told me a couple months ago ‘A Storm is coming’. I’ve since been watching, listening to what storm that may be. I believe He’s been telling me that it’s not one single storm but many parts in making ‘The Storm that is coming’. My Spirit agrees with all this author wrote. The Spirit of God is warning us to be prepared not only physically, mentally, but spiritually. Listen, watch, be attuned to what the Spirit of God is saying. He is preparing us loved ones. We are not to fear. You were set in this time for a purpose. John 16:33 ‘And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in me will be in you and give you great confidence as you rest in me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!’

When we are born again believers, we receive our sixth sense.
Thank You Lord for providing for all our needs both physically and spiritually.
Let us hear from You before the storm. Prepare us and equip us with all we need. We thank You in advance.
We put our trust and faith only in You.
Amen

I thought this article was very good and enjoyed the scripture she used . I think we do have to pay attention to warnings or we can be caught unaware. My husband and I live on an island off the coast of Ga. We do not evacuate for hurricanes. But carefully prepare for them. Power 2 generators, flashlight, lanterns propane. I Cook ahead and freeze and we stock with canned goods and have things in our freezer, extra water . Also before an actual storm we fill pails of water to keep on the back porch for flushing the toilets etc. one time we had to fill our bathtub to save our flush as our pond over flowed.it is good to prepare physically. Also prepare spirally by listening and praying. Thankyou for the article. My husband and I prepared yesterday by restocking our household. Filling our gas containers they were empty. It is hurricane season so common sense.

Would like to share some more details about the shaking that was prophesied in a dream to occur in September 2023. Learned more by reading messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn’s book The Harbinger 2 the return. The breakdown of our country’s hedge of protection from God that occurred on September 11, 2001 and destroyed the twin towers has continued to progress. There has been no repentance in the USA, but just a deeper continuation into sin (pleasure and money). The date in September 2023 will be the 11th. We have progressed to a parallel with the Tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11. The parallel scripture for 2001 was declared in Congress by Ted lDaschle, unknowningly, as he spoke of our country’s defiance and strength. The scripture was Isaiah 9:10. We did rebuild with a tower called the One World Trade Center which was the tallest at the time and bore an erie resemblance to the construction of the Tower of Babel. It’s quite possible the coming shaking will occur in New York again. Read more details in the book. Jonathan Cahn has been used prophetically for a
number of years now and has been 100% correct in all he has written. Also it’s been 3 yrs.that God gave us in hopes we would repent and19 yrs of grace
after 9-11. In 2020 Covid 19 came. Please read Matthew 24. It was pestilence. We are following the pattern of ancient Israel. Our country was also chosen of God to be a city on a hill and share Christ with all the world just as Israel was chosen to declare God and give us the Bible. Pray that we share what we know and bring as many as possible to Jesus. 🙏

The believers in the New Testament did not put their hope in anything of this world. Paul devoted his life to growing the Kingdom of God. I believe all the chaos we are seeing is a distraction. The enemy wants us to focus on it, because it takes us away from focusing on our roles in the body of Christ to mature as believers walking more and more in the Spirit rather than in the flesh. We are to not only speak the truth but also live out the truth where the collective church is literally the Body of Christ. People are to look at us and literally see Christ in us.
I believe the enemy is.pulling out all the stops because he knows his days are numbered. He knows he will be destroyed eventually when Christ returns. For him to stay alive, his only course of action is to distract the Bride and try and keep us from maturing. With a distracted Bride, Christ will not return. Jesus told us to not worry, because He has authority over all heaven and earth. He could easily remove the demonic forces over our nation, but I believe He is using them to bring about His purpose, to sanctify His body so we may be presented “without spot or wrinkle”. If we do not love our lives even to death, then what power does the enemy have over us? What can the enemy do to us? Take our lives? We are then in the presence of God.
Fear and hatred of evil motivated me to pray to change the world to what I wanted. Then I realized its not about me or what I want. It is about Gods plan of redemption for His entire creation. This plan was laid out from the very beginning. It will come to pass. The enemy wants us to give up our faith. We must not allow him to do this, no matter what be throws at us. God is using all of this chaos as a test, for we cannot rule and reign with Him in eternity, unless we go through tribulations which will transform us into His image.

IDK what to think about the America will be saved mantra. Time will tell what that actually means or if it is wishful thinking. I have no way of knowing. What I do expect is Isaiah 60:1-2, side by side light and darkness. The saints shining in the dark.

When on a long trip I have scann the skies for a cloud the size of a man’s hand, so far never seen one, but the first of the year God put a song in my heart. It’s beginning to rain comes the voice of the Father. I have had a burden so heavy for the rain to come. After 20 years of praying I’m beginning to “hear the wind blow.” God has planted those words in my mind. Saints pray and listen for the wind it’s beginning to rain.

I’ve heard several other national prophets refer to the “Sound” coming first and using the same Scripture passages. I love it when God speaks through many venues confirming others. Some even years apart but relevant to now. I believe in preparing physically as able, just being smart. But don’t focus on that, then there is the temptation to trust in that which is Not smart. The #1 preparation is spiritual. Extra time in the Word (the sword), prayer, sitting quietly, and listening for God to speak to you, strengthening yourself in the Lord and bringing to remembrance His faithfulness in the past. That’s so important. Rehearse God’s goodness, His faithfulness.

I so agree, Carol. First and foremost, spiritual preparation is the #1 priority. That is a no-brainer, or at least should be to any believer in Yeshua. And yet I would have to say, that I’m not sure most of the church is prepared spiritually. Perhaps my perception isn’t accurate. I also believe that we should seek the LORD for our personal “marching” instructions. I do not believe that preparation in personal and practical ways is a one-size fits all proposition, nor is it necessarily a lack of faith. Doing nothing may just be a lack of wisdom.
How God directs us individually will be in line with our gifting and calling. Case in point, someone with the gift of mercy and compassion and giving might be instructed to stockpile goods that will then be used to make provision – to sustain fellow-believers and/or to provide for unbelievers and in so doing open their hearts to the Gospel. Also, our location might further define what we need to do to prepare. The unseen repercussions of a disaster, which God does see and know in advance, He can help us prepare for. The key is to each seek His instruction and obey it, and quit judging one another for not preparing in exactly the same way. Let’s support one another in love and prayer, and as you said – “Rehearse His goodness and faithfulness.” and in doing that remind ourselves of where to place our trust.

As one who walks closely with the Lord through the prophetic, I’m not going to focus on the storm but keep my eyes on the Lord. When Peter saw Jesus in the storm he was ok until he took His eyes off Jesus. We as believers have authority in Jesus over the storm. Let’s learn to stand in our authority and calm the storm before it brings chaos. Perhaps those signs are to let us know to pray not prepare. As a New Covenant prophetic person, I look at storms through a different lens. Jesus rebuked the storm and so can we. Jesus rested in the storm and so can we. God doesn’t give us a spirit of fear, but love, power and a sound mind. I haven’t heard anything from the Lord to prepare for a storm but I do know how to take authority over the storm. Remain close because His Spirit lives in you and through you. Let His Spirit direct your paths as you trust in Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Perhaps that sense of rain coming is an abundance coming as God is pouring out his Spirit on all people as in Joel 2:28. Perhaps it is a sign not to worry because we have a God of abundance. A God who fed 5,000 and had leftovers for his disciples. I’m believing in a God who provides. I haven’t heard anything about preparation. Provision brings peace. Preparation brings fear. So trust in Him as Proverbs 3:5-8 say. Jesus told the disciples to take nothing for their journey and to speak peace over their circumstances. Let’s begin to pray peace over our circumstances because they Prince of Peace lives and reigns in us and through us. Focus on Jesus. I believe the signs and wonders will follow us to give glory to God not bring fear.
