Revelations about federal pressure on major U.S. airports to house large numbers of illegal migrants have raised deep concerns about national security, responsible governance, and the stewardship of public resources. Federal agencies—including the DOT, FAA, FMCSA, and FTA—were directed to identify airport facilities capable of holding and processing migrants, even as internal communications showed clear alarm from officials tasked with carrying out these directives.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

Airports such as Boston Logan, Chicago O’Hare, and New York’s JFK were asked to use terminals, hangars, and auxiliary buildings as makeshift shelters, despite explicit warnings that such plans would compromise safety and create operational risks. FAA officials acknowledged that federal rules prohibit repurposing airport facilities without proper approval, yet many of these restrictions were ignored.

In Boston, the airport pushed back, emphasizing that aviation hubs are not designed—or funded—to serve as migrant intake centers. Still, Logan ultimately accommodated 352 migrants and incurred over $779,000 in costs. In Chicago, up to 900 migrants were temporarily housed inside a shuttle terminal, and the resulting strain led to 329 police service calls and 26 arrests. At JFK, one migrant breached a secure area and ran toward active runways with a box cutter and scissors in his possession, underscoring the severity of security risks created by these decisions.

Beyond compromising airport integrity, the effort appears to have diverted essential federal air marshals away from aviation security to assist at the border. Officials were even directed to create “Know Your Rights” materials for migrants and were reminded that federal grants could be used to help local transit agencies move migrants across the country.

These developments invite prayer not only for secure borders and sound policies, but also for discernment among our leaders. Scripture teaches that authorities are called to reward good and restrain evil, and that those who serve in public office bear responsibility for the safety and well-being of the people. In a moment of mounting uncertainty, believers can respond by seeking God’s protection over our nation, wisdom for elected officials, and restoration of order grounded in truth and justice.
