AI Act: Blessing, Curse, or Surveillance State?
The European Union (EU) has recently passed the AI Act, legislation that was initially intended to prevent mass surveillance based on biometrics. However, it now seems to promote this practice.

The AI Act: An Overview
The AI Act, set to be implemented in 2025, is being hailed by the EU as a landmark event. It aims to provide safeguards for AI’s general purpose, limit the use of identification systems by law enforcement, and promote safety, compliance, and innovation. The EU asserts that the Act will protect fundamental rights, democracy, the rule of law, and environmental sustainability from high-risk AI, while boosting innovation and establishing Europe as a leader in the field.
Concerns Raised
Despite these claims, members of the European Parliament (EP) from the Pirate parties have voted against the Act. They argue that the drafting of the AI Act lacked transparency and resulted in changes that now effectively allow law enforcement to introduce error-prone facial surveillance and facial recognition camera software in public spaces. These tools are seen as authoritarian instruments that threaten to turn democracies into high tech surveillance states.
A Spiritual Perspective
As intercessors, we value the sanctity of individual privacy and freedom. Therefore, the potential for mass surveillance and the infringement of personal privacy raises significant ethical concerns.
Moreover, the potential for error in facial recognition technology raises concerns about justice and fairness. The Bible teaches us in Proverbs 21:15, “It is a joy for the just to do justice, but destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.” We must ensure that the tools we use to enforce law and order are just and fair.
Conclusion
While the AI Act promises to bring about innovation and safety, it’s important for intercessors to critically examine its potential implications on privacy and individual freedoms. We must continue to engage in conversations and debates around these topics to ensure a balanced approach to AI legislation that respects individual rights, promotes innovation, and aligns with our Christian values.

I am already hearing pre-recorded computerized reports sandwiched between human voice reports. Start slowly and soon we won’t know the difference between a human voice and an AI voice.
Lord, give us astute hearing and discernment. Amen.
Yes, only God creates the real thing – us! Why would we prefer the AI (artificial intelligence) to the AI that we already are – Authentically Imaged – made in our Creator’s image – He recognizes us, knows every hair on our heads. I prefer God’s Sovereign, authentic surveillance, which is for my good, to the artificial and flawed surveillance made by man for man’s less than good purposes and sometimes outright evil purposes (control, loss of freedoms, greed and power) God created us free, why would we want to be enslaved to an artificial intelligence when we can serve the Living Creator of the universe willingly and freely. I prefer the authentic to the artificial any day, praying satan’s counterfeit AI, does not take precedence over God’s authentic imaging, in us. We were perfectly designed by God in His image – nothing can improve upon that! http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com
China uses this. Why do we want to be like China? It doesn’t look like a good idea
