Our world revolves around electricity, which means that any attack on our grid would be absolutely devastating. And according to unnamed sources, the U.S. will be forced to conduct rolling blackouts across the nation in 2025, meaning that we may very well see our grid falter over the next few years. What can be done to protect against this?

Some time back Tucker Carlson’s emails at Foxnews were released. In effect, they revealed that he was urging Foxnews to tell their audience what they wanted to hear. That said, it would be wise for anyone to carefully check the information and sources for his news releases before taking them seriously. Sometime back, IFA posted something of his and I checked out the information and found it questionable.
Some redundancy is built into the grid because transformers and power lines have to be taken out for maintenance or can be damaged by tornados or icy conditions. So, there are backups to backups and the grid is studied to see where its weaknesses points are. There are portable transformers which can be moved into position and large transformer banks have spare transformers located at their substations which can be quickly installed. The grid is also designed to operate in islands, where a region can be isolated but power which is located in a region can continue to provide power to the area. Each utility is also required to have spinning reserves which is generation standing by ready to come online if another power source is brought down. But, yes, in an all-out war, generation sources and lines can be targets and over time, each redundancy, in theory, could be taken out in turn. But that would be true as much for an enemy as for us. This is more possible today because of satellites and GPS and weapons that can be guided to precise locations. So, to avoid that kind of war, you make that kind of war unthinkable.
I am a power engineer, and this is nonsense. The problem with the solar storms is that it impacts the magnetic fields around the earth which can induce electric currents on the East-West lines. This has been known for some time and steps have taken in the design of the grid to eliminate the problem.
IFA needs to be more careful in the articles they post.
Perhaps in a “field expertise” viewpoint, it’s nonsense. But there’s always a weaklink or hole that can be exploited….and terrorist nations are continuing to explore those vulnerabilities “at all times”. History shows us a perfect example (and this is just one) through the previous months preceding the Pearl Harbor attack, studying the various places or areas that could be exploited. It was, as we learned, immensely successful because of months of studying us, our weak, unguarded areas & sadly, our over confidence which resulted in an lackadaisical prevent attitude.
9/11 is another example. That’s just two of hundreds. Even if it’s not a solar storm, strategic terrorist attacks on multiple substations have the ability to cripple our nation en masse. I am retired from a major railroad & can tell you from first hand “on track” experience, we had to assume
& treat every person that was not an employee as a risk due to vulnerability in many areas. The electrical grid is no different.
Yes, unfortunately during an unscrupulous, all-out war, civilians and their interests are not protected, and a power grid can be a target– both ours and theirs. With satellites, substations, power stations and power lines cannot be hidden. So, there is little governments can do to prevent this. This kind of attack was less likely during World War II because long range weapons had to be employed and knowledge of exactly where vulnerabilities are located had to be known. Russia has shown the damage that an unscrupulous nation can inflect on civilians. The best way of preventing that kind of all-out war is by making it unthinkable by the world raising up in support of Ukrainians, but that is not happening.
Lord, I pray you will come to our aid as we work to remove those in power who ignore this problem. As the righteous rise up to spiritually defend this country and do the work to make policy changes along with a full administration change, we ask for your guidance and your strong arm. Remove the evil doers from our government and give those seats of power to the righteous. We join our prayers together and we bind every wicked scheme of the enemy to wipe out humanity and we agree with you that the enemy will fall into his own pit. You alone are God and your will will be accomplished on the earth.
