On Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott targeted some of the nation’s most radical Islamic groups, accusing them of seeking to “forcibly impose Sharia law.”

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations as foreign terrorist organizations on Tuesday, citing each group’s ties to Islamic extremism and accusing them of seeking to “forcibly impose Sharia law.”

Abbott’s action bans the Muslim groups from purchasing or acquiring land in Texas and subjects anyone affiliated with them to heightened state penalties.

“The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR have long made their goals clear: to forcibly impose Sharia law and establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world,’” Abbott said. “The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable. Today, I designated the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR as foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations. These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”

The Muslim Brotherhood, founded as a military group in Egypt nearly a century ago, is tied to numerous jihadist groups, according to a Congressional report from 2018. Meanwhile, U.S. authorities have accused CAIR of serving as a front for Hamas. In 2008 case, the council and its co-founders were accused to conspiring to fund millions to the Gaza-based terrorist group.

Texas has developed a strong stance on Islam and Sharia law in recent months. Earlier this year, federal and state authorities began investigating plans to build 400-acre Muslim community in Texas. Though neither the Muslim Brotherhood nor CAIR were involved in this plans, Texas’ actions related to the state and the two aforementioned groups show the state’s leaders are serious about confronting the growing influence of radical Islam.

On Tuesday, we covered the Muslim agenda for America. Islam does not seem to be going away any time soon, and it is entirely taking over communities across the nation. Let’s pray for more states like Texas and leaders like Governor Abbott to stand up against this false and dangerous ideology.
