Americans are reeling from the devastating impact of Helene and Milton.
There are many challenges in disaster recovery. If you have never experienced being in a natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, fire or flood, you may not have thought of the kinds of decisions and actions that go into relief efforts. Some are short term, but much of the recovery effort is a long-term project.
In an attempt to provide truth, prayer direction, and hope in this shared disaster, IFA is encouraging you to use our comments section to both ask for prayer if you or a loved one has been impacted, or to offer prayer, encouragement and hope to those who need it.
We will continue to offer updates from our relief partner, CityServe, who is currently on site in the southeast and positioned for efforts in Florida.
IFA hosted a 24 hour prayer vigil for Milton and the Lord answered our prayers! IFA’s Kris Kubal shared on Pray with America’s Leaders how God protected Florida from the worst of the storm. You watch this webcast below:
Here are some points of prayer over the situation:
- Pray for the immediate needs of families to be met: rescue, medical attention, food, and water.
- Pray for roads and bridges to be evaluated and repaired to bring more accessibility to areas hardest hit.
- Pray for wise management and distribution of relief resources. It can be difficult to manage a wide supply chain of donations, maintain safe and organized storage, and then distribute items needed to the appropriate locations and families.
- Pray for housing solutions for families who have been displaced.
- Pray for the body of Christ to lead the way in offering help, prayer, support, and community.
- Pray for the restoration of infrastructure, including electricity, gas delivery, road repair, and communications.
- Pray about debris clean-up, which is a huge undertaking that requires many people and the right equipment to reach strategic locations.
- Pray for families who are dealing with loss of life, loss of homes, and loss of jobs.
- Pray that Americans would continue to actively help efforts, donate toward recovery, and pray for those in need.
- Pray for those providing assistance: linemen, clean-up crews, aid workers, truck drivers, pilots, cooks, chainsaw teams, civil engineers, construction crews, warehouse workers, counselors, and general volunteers.
- Pray for mayors, city workers, officials, firefighters, police, and the governors of affected states.
- Pray for affected citizens to be able to vote in the elections in affected states and for safe and legitimate voting methods.
- Pray for long-term projects to rebuild homes, towns, and businesses and revitalize communities.
- Pray for the body of Christ to shine in the midst of darkness in our nation!
IFA hosted a 24 hour prayer vigil from 5 pm Tuesday, October 8 to 5 pm Wednesday, October 9. Thousands of intercessors joined the conference call prayer time to pray for Florida and the Helene recovery. It was a beautiful time of prayer and intercession.

I just looked up each and every person that is affected by these hurricanes one came in another one came right after it I pray that God will give these people the wisdom strength encourage to go on and I thank you Heavenly Father for the people that have a heart like Jesus to help other people in a disaster such as this in Jesus name I pray amen
Lord, we pray for all of those impacted by the Hurricanes. We pray that the churches and private sector organizations will not be stymied by FEMA, and that many lives will be saved. We pray that through this set back and, for many, tragedy, that it will “shake” people enough to accept You as their Savior when otherwise they would be secure in their own strength and selves. We pray that those in North Carolina and Florida will be able to cast their ballot, all the while keeping in mind the Harris Administration’s absence in their time of need much like they did concerning those of East Palestine, Ohio. Heavenly Father, we pray for your hand upon all of us in your nation that you brought about via Manifest Destiny and “paving” the road ahead of those settlers who chose to brave the wild frontier! We know it was your will to found America, and that there’s no reason to be ashamed of the CITIZENS of this country, and we know that usually it was the Federal Government that committed the bad, most notable atrocities and acts throughout our 250 year-old history. Please, be with us as a nation made up of vastly more great people than those who are vilely evil! In your name we pray, Amen!
Thank you and with much glorious praise to our Amazing God for shining his loving grace over Florida and his heavenly divine intervention in reducing Milton’s destruction and impact, therefore sparing Tampa from complete disaster. It was our heavenly father who changed Milton’s original path and also lessened the category of force. Only God has the power to do this feat!
Our constant comfort is in knowing God is ALWAYS in control, and only God, not man and certainly NOT Satan!

I was thrilled to receive a text from IFA about the 24 hours of prayer as Milton approached us in Sarasota. What a comfort to know so many intercessors were lifting everyone in Milton’s path up to God. I joined in when I could, and was so blessed to be able to tell my family that you were praying! God has spared so many of us, and he is intervening to help our friends who have had losses. Watching Milton lose power as it approached us was so wonderful, seeing prayer answered in real time.. God is good!
My prayer is that those who have suffered so much & are still walking though the process, will experience the words of the song, Beauty for Ashes,, strength for fear, gladness for mourning & peace for despair….still praying, still giving towards restoration.
Please give life, more abundant life, to the folks impacted by Helene & Milton.
Christian conservative policy implementation is what I want. For instance, rare, necessary, life sustaining abortion. Gov DeSantis has promoted a good plan.
Gov DeSantis appears to be managing recovery efforts very well.
My life was much better under Trump and the Republicans. Two trips down the shore happened every summer. In my car. I am thankful that FBC took a bus down this year.
I vote we give the Republicans another go.

Lord we lift up the people of Florida and we pray for your devine help. I pray for those who have lost everything and for those who are at loss. I pray for a quick recovery and that you will supply every need. I pray the the people of Florida would look to you for answers in prayer and seek your face. Pour out your spirit upon the people of Florida. I pray for families who have lost loved ones or who have been injured from this disaster. I pray for healing and a mighty move of God. in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Lord Jesus, I thank and praise that your Church is stepping into the gap, and making the effort to help the innocent victims of these disasters. I pray that there will be a dramatic change in the spiritual atmosphere in our country- one that will not just be until the crisis passes. We give You all the glory and honor due You. Thank you Lord for saving my elderly cousin from any damage and answering our prayer to surround her with your guardian angels through Milton’s ravaging winds.
A word of encouragement to those displaced as we were in Texas in 2016. Though it was a troublesome time, looking back God provided each step of the way back to wholeness. I still mourn the loss of our old house of 29 years because it’s where we raised our kids and grandkids but we are blessed with a safer home and new memories here. It’s hard to see it will ever be ok when you are displaced but God will restore. May all those displaced one day testify to God’s goodness as we have been able to do. Amen👆👆👆

Since there has been several Hurricanes in Florida and damages in other States; I pray for their recovery and thier safety.
My wife died on September 17, my daughter and I were at her side. I think of the tragedy that many of you have experienced and continue to struggle with. It is an unimaginable heartache to not know the whereabouts of a missing loved one. As I read and hear of many last sightings, my hear breaks for you. May the God of all comfort wrap you in His love, fill you with the peace that surpasses all understanding, and support you with His righteous right hand.

Praying for y’all daily for healing of those that lost family or friends. Heart breaking listening to the stories on the news sent donations. Wishing I could do more. Also praying that Jesus will see to all your needs.
Please pray for me. I am temporarily displaced due to Milton. I am temporarily staying in a safe ALF but it is earing up my $$ pretty fast. I need power restored to my home so I can return there.

Please move on the hearts of Your people to go to the aid of those who have lost so much in these last 2 hurricanes. Many have lost homes, family members, utility outages and so much more. Many of the prayer groups are continuing to hold up in prayer all those who have lost so much, even lives. Please rebuke those in our government who are turning a deaf ear to the needs of so many citizens, while continuing to give millions or billions to wicked enemies. In Jesus’s Name, Amen!

WE NEED REVIVAL NOW.
My home was flooded with over 3 feet of water. I have lived there for 37 years and never had an inch of water infiltrate before. I have been going from one place to another since September 28 trying to find an air conditioned space for my family and my 15 year old dog. Urgent prayers are needed for a solution to being displaced and a clear path forward, for my family and also for my neighbors.
Lori, I am lifting you and your family now in prayer. May you know the comfort only YHVH can give, the wisdom to know what He is leading you to do, and the grace to move forward when you cannot see a path ahead. Please Lord, make a way where there seems to be no way. Send help and aid.
Father, You have been with us here in Southeast Texas, as we have experienced several hurricanes beginning with Katrina, where thanking You our church had facilities to house over 100 evacuees. Then Hurricanes Rita, and Ike. We’ve had to evacuate and not being able to return to our home for over 3 weeks. Then Tropical Storm Harvey, flooded 3 counties, we were isolated water was to the roofs of homes or over. So many people came to help and rescue stranded people and pets. The people of our community came together to help anyone in need. Lord all of that was You bringing people together with one goal and that was to help each other. You dropped such a spirit of love here, it was overwhelming to witness. I said all this to say, You can and are probably already doing such wonders. Help them, Lord, wherever they need. I’m getting too wordy for this place. Thank You, Lord, for being with us in good times and bad times. You make everything good, Love You, Lord, in Your Son’s name amen.

We thank You for Your provision, protection & acceptance in Jesus! You gave Your only Son to defeat the powers of darkness & provide abundance so that is what I declare now in the midst of much turmoil. I praise You Father & Jesus in this storm & aftermath!! Guide us all in the perspective of Heaven & to be grateful for what we still have & that can never be taken from us–life, hope, joy in Jesus Christ!! I pray wisdom, fortitude & courage for all first responders, linemen, cleanup crews, city workers, doctors, nurses, funeral homes, counselors, church leadership. I pray deep relationship & taking time to sit in the Father’s Presence for the governor & cabinet, mayors, city officials, school boards, POTUS, FEMA, etc to understand & know Him & His will then to make sound effective decisions doing the most good & demonstrate standing in faith knowing God’s arm is never shortened that it cannot save. I pray we all trust in the Lord with all our heart, lean not on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge Him & He will direct our path. Thank you Father God, for IFA leadership to call for a 24hr. prayer. I felt the remnant really came together to move heaven. I believe that as the Holy Spirit leads IFA maybe will host another 24 hour prayer before the end of the year. We as intercessors have to stay watchmen on the wall. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Father my son and his family have only a few articles left from their home after Helene left 4 foot of water in their home. I pray for.my son and family to trust you as they have to repair, rebuild, and purchase. Milton took the lift for their boat and left the boat sitting on the bottom of Bocasiera Bay..I pray for quick response from insurance company and fair monetary renumeration for all the damage and loss. Father heal the.grief that they now are experiencing. Oh Lord wrap them in your arms and guide each step they must make

This is a praise from a survivor of Hurricane Milton. It came through my area as a Category 2. I’m a person of strong faith and as a widow, for a few days before, I was speaking faith over fear to several other widows. My prayer to my Lord was please keep me from losing power. I live in a manufactured home community and the power in this community is always an issue.
During the worst of the storm I could feel the the wind shaking my home, so much so that my recliner on the other side of the house actually vibrated during the shaking. The worst of the storm started around 12:30am and continued until 5am when I went to bed. During this time, several times my lights would blink, yet I never lost power, thanks to the Lord answering my prayers. He also blessed the Widows I had shared faith over fear with, and they never lost their power either. I had one roof shingle come off my porch roof and one hibiscus bush split in two at the roots. Minor to say the least. The other Widows experienced little to no damage as well. God came through in an awesome way! Through this entire storm, I had such peace and could feel His presence through it all. I am not downplaying the devastation of this storm by any means and I am praying for all those who suffered loss in both Hurricanes Helene and Milton, rather I wanted to share how much the Lord blessed me in this difficult situation, and pray that it will encourage others who are praying for the victims of hurricane disasters. Blessings to all.

Father creator God. The storms have passed. No man can rebuild without you. Give the leadership wisdom and knowledge that can only come from Heaven. Take what the enemy has done and build back lives, towns, and communities better than ever before. Your name be Glorified!

Good Lord, we know that you are in control and there is strong reason for the damaging storms that have occurred in Florida. My deceased wife’s parents (also deceased) lived for many years in Indian Rocks Beach so I know the area well after many visits with our five children. So my prayers go out strongly for the recovery and healing of those who have suffered so strongly from these disasters. May God quickly bring merciful healing and provision for needs to those affected. Also may God assist the churches in the area as they do their best to help so many suffering souls. And above all may our nation grow strong in knowing how to respond to such tragedy in a fair yet helpful manner. God has His reasons. May all learn what He intends to teach!

Please protect each one from any further harm or loss of life and/or property. Guide and direct first responders and everyone in charge of directing and managing relief and recovery efforts. I pray that order will be returned swiftly to infrastructures and utilities that were adversely affected. And, I ask that all affected citizens be given opportunities to cast their votes during this election season (early, by mail, or in person on Nov. 5th, etc.). I pray that any schemes being planned to prevent or to foil voting by these citizens be frustrated, confused, and destroyed. Dear Heavenly Father: Thank you for your love, your forgiveness and Grace for all who believe and have accepted you as our Heavenly Father>. I pray for those who have lost everything, for those who are struggling to recovery from a major and tragic event such as 2 hurricanes. Please put your loving hands over these people and bring them comfort, peace and those resources that will bring them comfort and a sense of recovery in your name. Please help us with a legal, fair and accurate election, one that follows the rules and regulations of our judicial system. Dear GOD – please help all the people that have been affected by these devastating hurricanes and tornadoes. You are in control and will guide the people who come to you. Bless all those helping – linemen and linewomen, first responders, police, fire departments, clean up people, utility workers, organizations and businesses lending what they can. People helping people is part of sharing your ministry. I pray that everyone can get on their feet and that you make an impact on them. Please keep them safe and help them see or continue in Your Light.
Heavenly Father, we are so thankful for the prayers of your people. We thank you for your hand of protection on our lives. We pray for those hurting that have lost everything, friends, loved ones, homes, communities. We pray for the linemen and the many people restoring our streets, trash, grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, coffee shops all back open. These all help us recover even when we are living without power in our homes, no A/C, no refrigeration, no internet and tv. Lord help us as a nation to appreciate our neighbors and help each other. Lord Jesus, I pray for our leaders here in the wonderful state of Florida. I pray they’ll continue to make the best decisions in rendering aid to the survivors who need it most. I pray they’ll continue to communicate with each other effectively. For all the people who have been activated by the state government to assist and to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those survivors who are still struggling in various ways, whether it be linemen, National Guard members, law enforcement officials, first responders, clean up crews, engineers and ministry volunteers and everyone else who’s answering the call at this very urgent time, Jesus, bless them, protect them and bless the work of their hands and multiply the work that they do so that many lives will be impacted and much suffering will be alleviated. This we pray in Jesus’ name, amen.
I agree, Lord. Some, if not many, may have had to place their own family’s loss and need aside while they attend to the needs of others. Please make provision for them, and give them peace in the midst of the chaos.
This is my first time to this site. My thought is that the LORD heard all the prayers across the body of Christ and calmed the storm so that it did not accomplish the worst destruction that had been forcasted. I am so thankful to Jesus that our corporate prayers offered in faith accomplished much good! Heaven will tell !!

The devastation from these back-to-back hurricanes is enormous. To all the people who have lost everything, the American Citizens are holding you close to heart, thoughts, and prayers. The government has been very slow to react. Citizens out there helping everywhere that they can. Thank God for the goodness in most people.

I am in awe this morning as Hurricane Milton was far less destructive than it was predicted that it would be! In the book of Mark chapter 4 Jesus said to the wind “pipe down” & it did. He said to the sea “quiet, settle down” & it did! So when we prayed yesterday: “Milton, be still” God’s hands went to work! The news said this morning: 1)Tampa dodged the major storm surges 2)The storm drifted 20 miles south. There was loss of life & 3 million people are without power this morning. “Mark 4:41 They were in absolute awe, staggered. Who is this, anyway? they asked. Wind and sea at His beck and call!”. A prayer: “Father, thank You for redirecting Hurricane Milton! There is power available when we pray in the name of Jesus. We give You glory, honor & praise today for never leaving us or forsaking us. That is who You are, a faithful Father! In Jesus precious name I pray this. Amen.”

Wednesday night as I was praying at bedtime The Holy Spirit brought this same miracle by Jesus to my spirit and mind! So I prayed in a similar manner and began speaking to Milton—to be still! My family is in Florida on fall break. My son and I have turned in our rental early and have switched our flights from Sarasota to Panama City airport. My daughter is driving home. I read it slowly, out loud, and changed all of the pronouns as if I were writing it all in a letter for you to our Father. I love praying that way and feel that it is more powerful. If there is one thing we all need more right now it is the power of the Lord to bring peace and a redirect to that storm, in Jesus name.

Hello Mabarley! I am so sorry to hear what happened to your marriage. That is not easy to navigate a betrayal, but of course you know that Jesus understands as He was also betrayed. May I suggest you ask God to help you find a church of believers to help you find friends? They will eventually become like family. Ask God for guidance. Meditate on Isaiah 41:10 and Philippians 4:4-13. I and many others worldwide have been praying for you but did not know your name. Now we do! I pray for a supernatural healing of your body and for God’s goodness, favor, love to overcome you. Giving financially is an issue of one’s heart. God will lead you in that area. I agree that our world has changed but our Father in Heaven has not changed and we can all stand on His truth and love for He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. His wings will provide refuge from the mightiest of storms. I know there are times when fear can creep in but when those times come for me, I take a breath and speak these few simple words……I trust you Lord. And I feel the peace of the Father. Even when you feel alone you can use those words and they will bring you comfort. If there are six of you together you all can pray that together. You will find that it helps.

I am 67 single senior whose husband has left me for a younger woman with morels sailing experience on an our boat that was to be our ministry ship and retirement home😩😭. I only have Heathen that are interested in taking care of each other not Me Christian evangelist. I have no friends I have no family. I have my Jesus I love him and I know he loves me, but I have longed for so long for some Christian companionship and to know that at least one other human being on the planet cares.. I’ve written my name on my leg and my arm, and if something happens, at least he’ll know who I am. Thank you for the guide on what to pray for I will be doing that tonight. I wish I knew someone was praying for me yet. I wish I had someone to care in person.. there is power in prayer. There is power in the spoken word. There is great power and small little acts of kindness done with the right heart not just looking at someone like they’re your project.. I don’t know what’s gonna happen on the other side of this hurricane that I’m in the direct line for but if I get out I’m told I have to have this major surgery will take 3 to 6 months to recover and I don’t have anybody to help or to take care of me and I might just not have the surgery which will itself be the decision of the future . Please don’t turn around and ask me for money. Because of what my husband has done, and whatever damage will be done after this hurricane, I’m potentially looking at being homeless. If Church would be less concerned about the money, they put into their driveways and invest in the lives of the believers they take money from. I think God would be more pleased.

I assume that it is in Florida. There is a program in the affected counties in Florida. You can get a free Uber ride to a shelter if your house is not safe to ride out the storm. Use the code MILTONRELIEF(I think). You might meet someone there. At least you won’t be alone. You might get help from Samaritan’s Purse.

Lord I have been praying and weaving as I see the news, we do have family in Asheville and the surrounding area in North Carolina as well as many areas of Florida. Such beautiful land, beautiful ocean, but a nightmare for those who are living in the aftermath of the hurricane helene,. We pray and ask for your mercy with this newest storm hurricane Milton. I pray that it will break up and lose strength before hitting land. We remember in job that you alone make the borders between Land and Sea you have walked on the sea you have calmed the sea you have split Waters into for people to flee, nothing is impossible for you and we are asking for you to hear our prayers and have mercy on the people and property and animals in these areas. We also know that you have given us gifts as Christians to share our time talents or Treasures with others as well as our comfort. Yes Lord please be with the First Responders and give them your Supernatural strength I pray that the National Guard and all those who are being activated to serve will be enough to work normal shifts so they do not get overwhelmed and tired as well. I am very hesitant to write this and it might be seen as foolish or superstitious. However, Governor DeSantis put a note at the Western Wall in 2019 for no hurricanes that year and I saw what happened to Hurricane Dorian. It was a strong category 5 hurricane and projected to hit Florida. It slowed to a crawl and never made landfall in Florida. Is there anyone in Jerusalem, Israel that could put a note in the Western Wall asking for mercy and no landfall?
…if not from your lips to God’s ear. Lord, please intercede. Holy Spirit, please make this prayer perfect in the Father’s hearing. Amen
