On May 16, 2025, the White House officially announced the appointment of two controversial figures to President Donald Trump Names Advisory Board Members to the Religious Liberty Commission: Ismail Royer and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, co-founder of Zaytuna College.

Ismail Royer, currently serving as the Director of the Islam and Religious Freedom Action Team at the Religious Freedom Institute, has a complex history. In 2003, he pleaded guilty to weapons charges related to assisting the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba and served over a decade in prison. Since his release, Royer has worked with various nonprofit organizations to promote interfaith dialogue and religious freedom.
Shaykh Hamza Yusuf is a prominent American Islamic scholar and co-founder of Zaytuna College, the first accredited Muslim liberal arts college in the United States. He has been recognized for his efforts in promoting classical Islamic learning and interfaith understanding. Yusuf has also served as an advisor to the Center for Islamic Studies at Berkeley’s Graduate Theological Union and was a member of the State Department’s Commission on Unalienable Rights during the first Trump administration.
These appointments have stirred concern across multiple sectors. According to an official release by the White House on May 16, 2025, Ismail Royer and Shaykh Hamza Yusuf were formally named as members of the new Advisory Board of Lay Leaders (Source: whitehouse.gov). Meanwhile, coverage by the Times of India highlighted Royer’s past involvement with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) training camps in Pakistan, citing his 2003 conviction and later advocacy work as part of the context surrounding his selection (Source: Times of India).
It is important to reflect that what is being called the ‘Religious Liberty Commission’ could, in practice, become a vehicle for spiritual compromise — a platform that ushers in not liberty, but bondage. If not guarded carefully, it risks enabling the very destruction of the Judeo-Christian values upon which America was founded. In the name of inclusion, we may be witnessing the erosion of truth.
I remember clearly our dark spiritual drought in Europe during the 1990s, especially in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, where I lived for 33 years. I was only 30 years old. During that time, ecumenism swept across Europe. The only nourishment we had came from American preachers via TBN. But then came the spread of mosques, the dilution of doctrine, and the persecution of those who dared to preach the gospel to Muslims.
I was among them. As a theology graduate, I taught classes at Albeda College in world religions—until the subject was renamed ‘levensbeschouwing’ (view on life), and I was forced to teach all religions equally. It was no longer about truth, but about appeasement. The terror of radical Islam began to grow from within, dressed in polished suits, well-funded, and socially accepted. The mayor became a Muslim. Society shifted.
We evangelicals fought for an evangelical school and eventually won — but by then, the church was weakened. We were losing youth to Islam, drawn not by faith but by the money, glamour, and influence of Gulf oil oligarchs and UAE propaganda. We saw Dutch, German, and Scandinavian young men and women — beautiful, bright, and full of promise — converting to Islam, seduced by its structure, discipline, and false promises of belonging and purpose.
We European leaders and the Church fell into the trap — not being watchful, and thinking it was a good and amazing thing to reach the Muslims for Christ. But in our zeal, we compromised, and we failed. We underestimated the spiritual battle and overestimated our influence. May America not fail the same way.
And among the prominent names on this commission is Pastor Jentezen Franklin — a man whose voice once echoed across Europe, bringing hope and clarity through the TBN broadcasts during some of our darkest spiritual years. Many of us were strengthened by his boldness and love for the Word.
We, as European leaders, once believed that we could influence from within — that our presence would bring light. But instead, many were slowly drawn into compromise.
I speak to my fellow pastors in Europe from that generation — they understand. But in America, they are not listening.
We are witnessing a convergence: a compromised America elevating controversial voices, even as Israel fights for its prophetic survival.
I have seen this unfold in Europe and the UK — the rise of so-called ‘ecumenism,’ which often dilutes the gospel under the guise of unity. It is now one of the strongest ideological pillars influencing the White House. This is not true spiritual reconciliation; it is a counterfeit unity that weakens the Church’s prophetic voice.
However, we must not forget the values upon which America was founded — values that defend biblical truth and uphold the Judeo-Christian principles that shaped the very fabric of this nation. These are values that honor God, uphold truth, and recognize the covenant God made with Israel. The erosion of these foundations places not just America, but the world, at spiritual risk.
“Gideon’s Chariots” Has Begun

The name is no accident. Gideon, in Scripture, led a small remnant against overwhelming odds—not with human strength, but by the command of the Lord. These modern chariots are not merely tanks and aircraft—they are prophetic instruments of divine purpose.
The war on the ground is intensifying. The war in the spirit is far deeper.

We started hearing about ecumenism in the late 1970s. You are right! It is a compromise and leads to confusion and falling away from the truth of the gospel. Evil never accepts compromise or appeasement. EVIL ALWAYS WANTS MORE AND SHOULD NEVER BE COMPROMISED OR APPEASED WITH GOD’S UNFAILING TRUTH!
JOHN 14:6 JESUS SAID TO him (Thomas), “I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH ME.”

Let’s pray that these two individuals will come to hear the gospel message in their role on this commission and in turn will reach so many people with the truth of God’s love because of the influence they currently have. I feel your articles tend to present doom and gloom instead of hope and encouragement.
Angela, warnings are not meant to give hope and encouragement, they are meant to stir people to activate and mobilize against the imminent attack of the enemy. And this one is not even imminent, it has been going on for decades – with little or no response.
I went to the White House website and contacted President Trump about this. I pray he listens to the concerns I shared form this article and removes these individuals from this commission immediately.
We need to be able to elevate Christ above all but the laws involved in establishing a Religious Liberty Office probably imply or require that multiple religions be represented. Therefore, I do understand why this is being done, because it is the law of the land and this way Christianity is protected. However, to the articles point, when future administrations come in certainly this can be twisted against us. I ask you: what about this is different than anything else? The last administration promised us communism and threatened to take away our private property, and promise that we would own nothing and be happy. There were plans to take away meat and make people eat bugs. Please remember how close we were to losing everything. Without a complete reliance on the Lord, and without earnest prayer for all leaders, we are always only a few steps away from that anyways. We must continue to pray, we must continue to establish the dominance of our faith, and we must not lose hope. Finally, we must know that Trump is for God, Jesus, Christianity, but this is probably the only way he could establish this office. Don’t start condemning the only leader who ever actually took a stand for what we believe and actually did save us from communism, just because you don’t understand his actions or the law. If terror springs up he will prosecute it. Newsflash: it is up to God to keep us safe. We have to continue to pray!
Please allow me to point to the bigger picture. President Trump has been in office five months. He is appointing two Moslems to be on the Religious Liberty Commission about the time he is accepting a $400 million jet as a ‘gift’ from Qatar. Please notice that without Qatar’s financial support, it is unlikely that the Taliban, Hamas and al Qaeda would exist. El Quada would exist. Please notice that Air Force One is still fully functional. In addition to this, Qatar, U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia have contributed more than $3.5 billion to a private Equity fun run by Trump’s son-in-law and ‘state backed’ funds from Qatar and the U.A.E. were major investors in the $6 billion AI fund raising event by Musk. A United Arab Emirate fund invested $2 billion in a Trump associated crypto firm. An 18 hole golf course is being built in Qatar in partnership with the Trump Organization and Qatar, and Trump branded apartments are going up in Saudi Arabia. Sound like the Biden family’s conflict of interest but in the open and on steroids?
Normally the FBI and the Justice Department would investigate ethic concerns but Pam Bondi used to work lobbying for Qatar and was paid quite well for her services while Kash Patel consulted for profit for Qatar before being appointed over the FBI.
When Trump reached an agreement with Houthis, it was expected that he would also get them to agree to not target Israel. He did not. His agreement with Houthis allowed for them to continued attacking Israel.

This morning, I asked the Father, “Father, what would you have me focus on today, what passages in Scripture do You want to highlight.” I immediately
heard, “the BLOOD of the First Messianic Martyrs has been spilled in America–LAMENT and REPENT for your nation!” I prostrated myself in prayer
and cried OUT for MERCY and FORGIVENESS for the BLOOD of CHRIST JESUS to wash away the sins in America for all the Anti-Semitism which has been
tolerated, in the church and in our society. The two young Jewish people were BELIEVERS in YESHUA (Jesus). They belonged to a Messianic Israeli
group named “KING of kings” and they were working to make a difference. The same people who BRAINWASHED that guy to hate Jews and want
to kill them and scream “Free Palestine”–is EXACTLY who Trump is now putting into the “FAITH OFFICE” and appointing and approving into our government.
He is NOT DRAINING the SWAMP as he PROMISED. He is ADDING TERRORISTS and ISLAMISTS to it. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! God help us and
equip to grow stronger in prayer as this has been UNSETTLING to learn. But Scripture warns us, “trust ye NOT in princes or in the sons of men in whom

wealthy king, He can do it AGAIN (Mal. 3:6) with a rich leader who has lied to us. (Remember the GOLD STATUE of himself in the Gaza video which he released to the
public. No one forced him to create a visual with himself depicted like a golden god.) When someone shows you who they are…believe them!
May he REPENT! I was already deeply saddened and concerned about the bribe with the plane, the snubbing of Israel and all this Amalekite deals
he made with nations which curse Israel (Gen. 12:3, Number. 24:9) and support terrorism (QATAR)…then came the appointment of 2 Muslims in the FAITH
office and the news that he is appointing them into our government!!! I pray he repents…but he has already said in interviews he doesn’t think he needs to repent…so we
have to leave him in GOD’s HANDS. “It is a FEARFUL THING to fall into the Hands of the LIVING GOD.”(Hebrews 10:31). I pray he radically, radically encounters Christ
such that he AWAKENS to the peril of his soul and the harm he has done and the lies he has told. Jesus, please help him REPENT!
Trump also posted a picture of himself as pope and as a muscular Jedi. What does all of this say about his heart??
Oh God! Help us in America to continue to acknowledge You boldly. Help Your followers serving through this Committee to remain alert, discerning and courageous, calling out falsehood while guarding foundational Biblical truths. Let us Not go the way of so many European nations, but let us remain faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is a Day for clarity — not appeasement, not compromise. Give President Trump a check in his spirit regarding this Religious Commision. May he guard America’s founding religion — the Christian faith — as he guards our Constitution and our economy. Keep us from falling for the Trojan horse! Truly, may You be glorified in America today, beyond anything this Nation has experienced! For Your Name’s sake!
Lord, while we understand the “political correctness” of having an all inclusive faith effort, we know the compromise is not from You. We decree “mixture” will NOT take place in our nation, starting at the top. We speak to the hypocrisy of mixture, & it’s accompanying “fear of man”. Show Yourself strong & mighty & show those in the federal “faith department” that mixture cannot exist in YOUR plan for our nation. In Jesus’ name! We MUST NOT compromise with Islam. They will never assimilate. They only desire POWER AND CONTROL! They infiltrate our institutions and culture and overthrow by birth rates. Never to be trusted; like rats in the sewer! They have been very quiet but are raising their heads. Allah is not God but Satan. WHY would Trump appoint these two avowed Muslims. Do NOT compromise!
I want to point this out to those who are not thinking this through. Qatar sponsored the Taliban, Hamas and al Qaeda. So, under those circumstances and because we as a country are not poor, why is Trump placing our country and himself in a position of being obligated to Qatar for anything? His allowing Qatar to contribute billions to his person crypto fund, his accepting a gift of a $400 million jet as well as the money Qatar is contributing to his son-in-laws funds and Musk’s AI fundraising is not actually free but implies obligations. Against this background, his appointing two Moslems to be part of his Religious Liberty Commission within hours of the Pentagon accepting a Qatar jet takes on new meaning.
I believe the jet isnt for Trump personally and was set up by Biden earlier.

1) Most Puritans and other believers at the founding of our country held a “postmillenial” understanding of the end times. No rapture! No dispensational distinction between Jews and Christians!!!!!! Please do your research!!!!!!!
2) It’s explicit in our Declaration of Independence. The American “creed” is as follows: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — There is nowhere in here that distinguishes between Christians and non-believers. And we as Christians need to honor all our neighbors, in the spirit of Christ. How we honor, as opposed to capitulate remains the questions indeed…Not denying that tension…

America was founded on freedom of conscience before God, freedom to worship, not denominational loyalty — hence the countless denominations that have sprung up within our shores since our founding from Quakerism to Seventh Day Adventists…
There was a deep aversion to a Catholic-style theocracy, or an official church led by a monarch as in England…despite the Anglican loyalties that many founders continued to espouse throughout their lives…(Puritans of course wanted to ‘purify’ the church of what they saw as straggling Catholic elements and excesses.)
And yes, America was also founded on free trade, commercial interests, land ownership, economic prosperity, territorial conquest, and active, harmonious dealings with all nations. Please read George Washington’s warning against foreign entanglements and his promotion of peace instead.
Thomas Jefferson owned Bibles, and a Koran, and numerous other philosophical and ancient texts. Not every founder was a pastor or seminary student. Or even a Christian — but even the Christians believed the sovereignty of God over people’s souls meant that state had no place in the church. The state is not responsible for proselytization itself, only in fostering an environment that does not hinder it!
We need to be careful of projecting our own personal biases to the State.
Donald Trump may not be some pulpit master of theological doctrine — but he is an American through and through. And he has been doing a phenomenal job of protecting US interests, and the promoting prosperity and the general welfare of all citizens who abide by our laws and respect our sovereignty…It is not in his job description to be a theocrat.

Thank you for your summary of history. However, owning a Bible as you remarked about Thomas Jefferson who was not in agreement with GOD’S WORD and cut out pages in his Bible of the HOLY SPIRIT is one of the examples of wrong theology. Proverbs 14:34

I think it is more a concern that it reveals something about Trump’s heart rather than the appointment in and of itself. That, in combination with a $400 million dollar jet to be used by President Trump alone, and his allowing billions of dollars of donations from Middle Eastern countries to his crypto firm and the building of Trump apartments and co-building an 18 hole golf course in the Middle East indicate a heart that is not standing firm against any temptation that might look like compromise or undermine the dignity of his office. His reaching an agreement with Houthis which did not include protection for Israel is concerning.
Lord Jesus, We thank You for the blessings of faith, freedom and family values. We pray for President Trump named two controversial figures to the Religious Liberty Commission. We need inclusiveness and listening to diverse perspectives. We believe Donald Trump has a great vision for Unification Religion. He’s doing your Will. Lord, Light of all nations. You came not for one people, but for all. Guide us on the path of love, unity, wisdom, truth and compassion. May Your presence awaken all. And may Your spirit lead us beyond fear. Into forgiveness, peace, and eternal hope. In Jesus name. Amen.
I think that this article is a very clear assessment and warning of what we need to pay attention to.
My first response is, how am I going to pray about this, what can I do about this?
So I go to the word of God.
In The book of Ephesians 6::12-18 it says…..” we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places…”.
And second Corinthians 10:5-6 it says “ for though we live in the world, we are NOT carrying on a worldly war, For the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to OBEY CHRIST, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete.”
With those scriptures in mind, I then ask God to show me what the weapons are to deal with situations that I feel are so difficult. He has given us the full armor of God, praise, fasting, confessing scripture…. Just to name a few of our weapons. But I also believe that I Timothy 2::1-4 fits powerfully into our ability to war successfully, “ first of all, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and THANKSGIVING be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we MAY live a quiet and peaceful life, GODLY and respectful in every way. This is good and it is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
I also try to ask him for what He wants me to do out of John 5:19, ” TRULY, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatsoever he does, that the Son does likewise.” And in John 8:28 “….and that I do nothing on my own authority but speak thus as the Father has taught me.”
Father help us all to SEE What you are doing and to HEAR what you are saying!
This is an attempt from the evil Satan and his demons to attack this God Centered country. I’m praying for this to be thwarted by God Almighty.
“Look, I give you Authority to Trample on Serpents and Scorpions, and Over All the power of the enemy. And Nothing Shall by Any Means Hurt You”
Father, in these last few days of reading Your Word, I am impressed by Your desire that the kings commit themselves wholeheartedly to You! They tear down the strongholds they remove the idols they cast out the sin. When they did not do this completely there was always a stronghold that broke into the camp and caused destruction. Father, , I am praying for President Trump. I pray that You endow him with wisdom. That he does not compromise the importance of remaining devoted completely to You. . He does not allow the enemy to come in and to rob to steal and destroy what You desire to give life to. I pray, Father, , that he is bound by Your purposes and Your will, and he will not forsake the anointing that You have on him. I pray that the church will arise, and we will speak boldly for truth, justice, and righteousness in Jesus name.?
They need to abandon Islam and come to accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and King. If not I fear they have an agenda to force Islam upon us. I trust God will take care of this if we ask for His guidance and help.

I agree with most of your article. Ecumenism has been around many years and has a stronghold even within Christianity. All Christian denominations originate from Catholicism and have retained beliefs and practices from this denomination. This denomination does not follow Scripture and has much idolatry, and pagan practices, etc.. It has led many away from God’s Word and truth. False unity within the church denominations and eventually it will lead to ecumenism of all religions. Billy Graham was a huge proponent of Ecumenism. It runs deep. And unfortunately, TBN has been corrupt for awhile. Many false preachers on there. Sure they preach truth, but it’s the subtle lies woven in. Look for the fruit! If there is any. Shows like “The Chosen” are being used to draw people back to Catholicism- praying the rosary- non-Biblical religious holidays and Ecumenism.
The writer Jenkins saying Mormons worship the same Jesus. Not true!

Royer and Yusuf must be removed from this advisory board now! They have no place there. God help us! I plead the Blood of Jesus over these appointments. They must be
revoked in Jesus’ name.

However, as many would attest, they have not come in under false pretenses – they stated clearly in both written documents and actions that they want to dominate. And they are not secret enemies. I think it is more a concern that it reveals something about Trump’s heart rather than the appointment in and of itself. I pray for Muslims to come to Jesus and many are! I am reminded that it was an Ishmaelite that saved Joseph when he was sold by his own brothers. They brought him to Egypt and allowed God to save Joseph and Jacob’s line. Only I Am figures that out. Also note it was Ishmael and Isaac who came together to bury their father, Abraham. No, I’m not sympathetic to their religion, but only trying to hear, and trust God without trying to draw conclusions. In Him I trust.
A few weeks back just after Easter I was encouraged by the Lord to pray for India. A short week later I heard India had attacked Pakistan. Prayed for the Christians there to be strengthened and looked into another dangerous spiritual entity that doesnt tolerate Christianity. I’ve heard it wants to rise even in our country. Praying for the strengthening of Christians in India and conversion. Praying for Muslins to come to Christ. The Cross and Jesus Christ is the only hope.
I pray. Lord, give us wisdom , to pray your will. Lord Give our President wisdom and strength. Thank you for this country. Thank you for the blood of Jesus and your mighty angels. Guide us Lord with your mighty hand. In Jesus name.
I believe that this is an act of appeasement which is the Trojan Horse that carries compromise and then leads to destruction. Woe to America if we don’t call these actions out. We are a Judeo/Christian nation……period! And satan has been chipping away at that covering, that Covenant, for decades. Lords Jesus open the eyes of President Trump to Your truth vs false religions. Change his heart & mind to read & study Your Word and meditate on it. Yes, many, many Christians think it is God’s will that Muslims are brought here in droves so they can be evangelized. Such fallacies in this idea, chief of which is that we can’t even disciple our own children and keep them in the church. It’s very sad that two people who are followers of Islam have been appointed to a religious freedom committee. The history of Islam is anti-Christian and for the most part anti-American although there are some exceptions concerning anti-Americanism. We need to pray that only the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be the only one who provides influence for our nation!

I’ve been warning the people of God for years about the potential takeover by Islam during the end times. Many refused to accept the warning, but we’re clearly beginning to see the Book of Revelation unfold before our very eyes. Even our small City in Michigan has seen an alarming increase in the Muslims presence within the past few months. Most women clothed in all black with only their eyes showing, and men in Arabian attire, headdress and all! Some have begun to show up in our library! I believe that many of them are illegals. We must continue to pray without fail!
