I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank you for the beautiful legacy of dedicated intercession through the halls of our government buildings. Help us to leave a legacy of prayer that pleases you and sows seeds for future generations. Remind us daily of simple obedience to Your Word.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

It was a blustery day on April 13, 2024, at our magnificent Capitol building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The winds were relentless from early morning until the end of the “Don’t Mess With Our Kids” event. Many of our intercessors who are committed to our Tuesday evening Prayer Call for Pennsylvania gathered to intercede and show support for this cause for our children’s protection from extreme liberal agendas.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

As the program began, you could sense a resolve in their attitudes. Intercessors stood firmly as the wind blew. They worshiped, prayed, took communion together, and encouraged everyone who shared a testimony.

Bill and I were asked to pray for candidates running for office and those who serve and represent biblical values. As students of revival history, we love discovering our past generations’ encounters with the Holy Spirit of God, who has the power to change history.

“Enough is Enough” was the order of the day as IFA Pennsylvania took a stand at the Capitol last April.

By this time, the crowd had thinned, and those left standing were the intercessors. We are a unique tribe, being fearless and becoming exhilarated when the elements and unseen forces press against God’s order of the day. By standing firmly to the end, we knew we were “leveling up” in earned authority for our state of Pennsylvania and all that would come against its destiny. Who knew that the highlight of our day would occur after the event had ended?

As we made our way to our car to return home, a gentleman approached us and shared a brief story. He had heard us announce that we represented Intercessors for America in Pennsylvania. He told us that his mother walked the halls of our Capitol building daily for more than 30 years, praying for our elected officials, and she was a part of Intercessors for America. He remembered her reading the IFA newsletter faithfully when it came each month. He now prays regularly in the Capitol, especially mentioning Senator Mastriano and his own Senator. He took our card and quickly went on his way as we stood in awe.

Oh God, You did it again! We realized the 50+ years of Intercessors for America had established the beachhead for all those who would be called to intercede for our government and, in this case, for Pennsylvania. Although this precious saint remains nameless, this chance encounter with her son, who now walks in that generational blessing and carries out the assignment that his mother had for so many years, has made an indelible mark on our journey and created a deeper love and appreciation for our forerunners at IFA.

How have you given or received an inheritance in prayer?

Bill & Betsy, we thank you! Living in Minnesota, I know that this year the election beachhead was going to be PA. Your faithful intercession combined with hundreds of thousands of others led the way! Thanks for your sacrifice and your updates from there! I enjoyed meeting you Bill at the 50th anniversary.

In the name of Jesus may God bless every intercessor so their prayers produce much fruit to advance God’s Kingdom and cause His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
So be it and Amen.

Thank You, Lord, for these devoted saints for intercession. I agree with each prayer and comment. Truly a divine, holy experience for me personally today, to read these articles and to pray with fellow intercessors. Thank you for each who has shared and prayed. It made my thanksgiving very special.

YHVH, I thank You for all the unseen, largely unknown heroes of the faith both in the past, present and future! I thank You for those who labor in intercession faithfully and often with no recognition – continuing faithful even without having seen the answer to their prayers. I thank You for those sent forth to share the Gospel, many of whom perished without ever seeing the seeds they planted germinate and grow. That Hebrews 11 “Hall of Faith” is continuing to have additions made, and we thank You for each one! Many of us are products of their intercession and faith. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants!

Father thank you for once again reminding us of the power of prayer. That when we cast our cares and concerns on You, You provide us with what we need when it is needed .

Bill and Betsy thank you for sharing this testimony. It is a reminder that we need to pray continuously because long after we leave this earth our prayers will have an impact for generations to come.

The Lord gave me a vision the other day. He showed me that if every person on earth would pray and worship Him, Satan would not have any power.

Father we thank and praise you in Jesus name!

Beautiful article. Thank you for relating these important principles. The impact of prayer is beyond our comprehension. At the least, it is the in-time communion of our hearts with the heart of our Father. Yet, faithful prayers echo through time. So many “answers” will be released in their appointed time. Thank you for your faithfulness.
I suspect, the unnamed intercessor was Edna Weaver, who with her husband, Pastor Luke Weaver, left a legacy of Holy Spirit fruit in our state. I was there at that rally, as was her son, Pastor Mel Weaver.

Yet another answered prayer… We have often thought of that “chance” meeting at our state Capitol and regretted not getting contact information for this man and also that faithful prayer warrior who blazed the trail for all who followed her lead. So, we Thank the Lord at this time of Thanksgiving and will give a heavenly “shout out” to Edna Weaver and her husband, Pastor Luke Weaver, and her son, Pastor Mel Weaver, who shared this amazing testimony and brought great encouragement to our Intercessors for America work in our Keystone State. May God bless your Thanksgiving and know that we cherish the moment in Harrisburg.
