Analysis. Recently 53 desperate migrants from Mexico and Central America died a horrific death suffocating in 130° heat trapped in a tractor-trailer attempting to slip into America at our southern border. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the blood is on Biden’s hands because of his failure to enforce our established immigration laws resulting in deadly consequences.

Mr. Biden’s “open borders” policy welcoming anyone and everyone from anywhere with the message of free medical care, entitlements and settlement is a scandal bringing an avalanche of illegal immigrants into our country day after day, week after week, month after month.

Take April for example where over 234,000 immigrants illegally entered America as the Biden Administration sneaked the lawbreakers at taxpayer expense onto planes in the middle of the night to deposit them in unsuspecting cities. This is insanity as millions of illegal immigrants, criminals, human smugglers, drug pushers, sex traffickers and terrorists (40 on our terrorist “watch list”) continue flooding our nation.

Biden, as a puppet of the progressive left, sends billions to Ukraine to protect their borders yet flagrantly ignores the chaos and crisis at our border with an invasion rate of over 3 million illegal migrants a year! The drug cartels are having a field day as they’re moving drugs into cities where gangs supply fentanyl freely resulting in 103,000 deaths in one year (primarily among 18 to 34-year-olds) and causing an explosion of violent crime and killings.

Donald Trump took bold and decisive action to secure our borders amidst the radicalized Democratic Party stonewalling his every move. He built a wall of protection, instituted the “Remain in Mexico” policy, stopped the “Catch and Release” ruse and, most importantly, sent a message to the world that there’s a way to legally enter the United States but you must do it legally.

What Would Jesus Do?

Over four decades ago, I worked at the AFL-CIO headquarters in DC. My job was in the Community Relations Department helping union members and their families with humanitarian needs outside of the union contract. Early on I discovered there were requirements and limitations to assistance being offered. Jesus taught this as did America until Biden and the radicalized “progressives” took over.

In Mathew 22:11-14 Jesus told a parable of a man desiring entrance to an event but refused entrance because of not honoring the requirements.

In Matthew 25:1-13 He told of 10 young maidens desiring to gain entrance to a special occasion and yet five were turned away and called “foolish” because they did not fulfill the requirements.

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over the wall of the sheepfold rather than going through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber” (Jn. 10:1). California “Dems” currently give free healthcare (costing taxpayers $2.4 billion annually) and free food stamps (costing $35 million annually) to the state’s 3.3 million illegal immigrants to shamelessly garner their votes.

3 Steps to Solve the Crisis

1. Extend genuine love to all immigrants

America consistently demonstrates generosity and love to the foreigner as we welcome more than a million legal immigrants yearly. Our history proves we care for the poor, widows and orphans (Jam.1:27-8; Gal. 2:14).

In the Old Testament, immigrants were to be granted acceptance (Lev. 19:33-4; Ex. 22:21) and given opportunities to collect food (Lev. 19:9-10). This was not blanket entitlement as God required the immigrant to keep the laws of the land (Ex. 12:48-9: Ex. 23:12).

2. Respect realistic limits

Idealism says, “Open the gates and let everybody in!” Realism says, “Assess our resources and capabilities to responsibly determine what we can do at this particular time.”

If a lifeboat has a sign stating “Limit of 12”, it may appear compassionate to try and rescue 25 but the result can be the drowning of everyone!

Years ago, one of Christianity’s most gifted musicians, Keith Green, tragically decided to risk overloading a plane with additional passengers plus two of his family. The plane began its ascent but quickly began a decent that brought a devastating crash killing all on board.

Today America faces over $30 trillion in debt and inflation is skyrocketing at record levels. Biden’s “open borders” policy is destroying lives alongside the deluge of drugs coming in daily. Two cartel pushers were just arrested (6/28/22) in California with 150,000 fentanyl pills, enough to kill 150,000 Americans! They were quickly let go with no bail in Democrat-run California home of Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi.

3. Obey the government and its laws

The divine directive is for citizens to obey the governing authorities (Rom. 13:1-7; 1 Pet. 2:13-14). The one exception is if government forces us to violate a law of God (Acts 5:29). Laws need to be obeyed or the result is lawlessness, which we are seeing increasingly in our country.

Millions of illegal immigrants in the United States need to be led on a pathway to citizenship that does not make a mockery of their predecessors who achieved their citizenship the proper way.

Local post offices can be used for registration. Illegal immigrants can be told they have 30 days to obey our already established 8-step process for citizenship, plus secure their identification card (green card) attesting to their permanent residence. Sponsors can volunteer as a “big-brother” supporting our immigrant friends. Failure to comply would result in fines.

Budgeting for our Border

With the midterm “housecleaning” of leftist progressives, let’s:

• Allocate for immediate training of more qualified Border Patrol agents.
• Deploy at least a 1000 National Guard troops to the southern border.
• Utilize daily drone flights to identify those involved in human trafficking and drug cartels and put them in prison!
• COMPLETE THE ALREADY 400 MILES OF BORDER WALL WHICH TRUMP PROMISED AND FULFILLED.

Israel and China rely on walls. When leftist progressives argue “walls don’t work” why do they have them around their gated communities in addition to the White House?
