Have you been concerned over the warmongering and saber rattling that we are hearing from all corners of the earth lately? If so, would you join with us to pray for our President and governmental leaders to have new levels of wisdom in handling foreign policy?

As we pray, let’s claim Proverbs 21:1:

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes (Proverbs 21:1 NKJV).

Like Balaam of old, it is entirely possible for a person to set out to do one thing, but end up doing another thing because of the influence of the Lord. And even though we aren’t equating our politicians to the ancient prophets, we do need to cover their decisions, words, and even rhetoric toward other countries in prayer–regardless of their current intentions.

As we pray, we can believe God that He will turn their hearts like water, bringing His will forth even if each individual never set out to obey Him at all.

Are you ready? Let’s pray the following prayer points over USA foreign policy:

“Dear Heavenly Father, in Jesus’ name, we lift up our foreign policy to You. We also lift to You all the people involved with creating and carrying out those policies.

Lord, we need Your help. We hear so much talk of war and conflict, and we do know that those things must come before You can return to carry us home to Heaven.

However, Your Word also says that the Gospel must be preached to all the world, and then the end shall come. And since Your Gospel has not yet been preached to all the world, we know that we need more time—and that the end is not yet.

Since the end is not yet, Lord, we are asking You to bring peace into the conflicts of the world.

And since You have given the USA major influence in nearly every part of the globe, we are asking that You would bring peace into our relationships with other countries right now.

Specifically, Father:

1. Give our Presidents (current and future) wisdom and discernment to know what You desire regarding American foreign policy.
2. Turn the hearts of the kings/Presidents like water to do Your will, even if they didn’t set out to do Your will.
3. Help every politician to desire peace, rather than desiring war to enrich their own pockets or to further their own agendas.
4. Give every politician words to speak that are from You. Let them speak as the oracles of God, even if they don’t know You yet.
5. Help our politicians to avoid divisive rhetoric that only inflames, irritates, and creates enemies.
6. Help our ways as a nation to please You, so that You can make even our enemies to be at peace with us.
7. Let only the people that You desire be placed into offices relating to foreign policy.
8. Give all of our politicians the mindset and attitude that they will protect our nation first, not helping other nations without helping Americans … and not looking out for their own personal (crooked) interests, either.

And regarding specific nations and situations, Lord:

9. Give our President wisdom to know what to do about the Panama Canal, and its influence and control by Chinese companies, which in turn are subject to the Chinese Communist Party.
10. Please bring the management of the Panama Canal back into keeping with the terms of our original treaties without war, if possible. But even if military action becomes necessary, protect our national interests there, we pray in Jesus’ name.
11. It may seem crazy to us, but if You want Canada and the USA to change its relationship in any way, You bring that change in relationship into being. Otherwise, please bring the inflammatory chatter about annexing Canada to an end.
12. Give our President, Congress, and state-level leaders (governors, etc.) wisdom for how to handle our borders, particularly our southern border with Mexico, where large numbers of undocumented migrants are coming through.
13. Help us not to oppress the poor and the strangers among us—but also help us to defend our nation from anything that would hurt the American people, our safety, or the economy.
14. Bring the war in Ukraine to an end. Expose and reveal where every bit of American funding is going for that war—or even for criminal purposes—and get American dollars and American involvement out of Ukraine as much as it is Your will to do so.
15. Regarding Israel: Bring the totality of our foreign policy regarding Israel back into covenantal support of and friendship with Your people Israel.
16. Help us to keep the promises we have made to Israel regarding weapons, armament, and economic support.
17. Regarding the countries who are building nuclear armament programs and shouldn’t be: expose and reveal what they are doing. Give our leaders wisdom to know what to do about it, and let the nations who are allied for righteousness take swift and decisive action to prevent what ought to be prevented.
18. Help our leaders to be acutely aware of the dangers of communism and socialism. Help us to be hyper-vigilant in our relationships with countries who embrace these philosophies. Let our foreign policy be staunch in defending us against any inroads made by these schools of thought.
19. Give our leaders wisdom for how to handle Russia and its leaders. Calm the tension between the USA and Russia. Quiet the warmongering and saber rattling. Station angels between the USA and Russia—and between our troops and theirs, between our military vehicles and theirs—and do not allow tensions to escalate between the USA and Russia, I pray.
20. Help North Korea and its leaders to do right by their people. Bring socialism and poverty to an end. Give American leaders great wisdom in word and deed for how to handle relations with North Korea. Send our President and Congress the information we need to know in order to relate with North Korea rightly, the way You desire.

Lord, please give us courage. Help us to stand up for what is right in every situation.

In all these situations, Father, give us the soft answer that turns away wrath when it is needed. But also, we pray that You would pour out on us Your Spirit of valor, so that we can respond with might and strength when that is needed. And while we do that:

21. Expose and reveal anything we need to know.
22. Protect us from the slow movement of bureaucracy when action is needed. If action is necessary, let us move quickly and decisively to carry out all the right decisions.
23. Strengthen our intelligence community. Protect our intelligence agents, wherever they may be. Protect the USA from espionage, and from all the intelligence efforts of adversarial nations.
24. Give us witty solutions and creative ways to approach things.
25. And above all, in every aspect of our nation’s foreign policy, let Your Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Father, the kingdoms of this world are truly Your kingdoms, and the kingdoms of Your Christ.

And we ask today that You would move with Your mighty hand and outstretched arm to bring peace around the world, and to show our American politicians how You want us to work with other nations. Protect American sovereignty and American interests, and bring liberty and justice for all.

Thank You, Abba Father. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”
