A powerful movement of intercession is steadily growing throughout Michigan, the U.S., and around the globe. In a world filled with negative and frightening news, intercessors rise up, embodying the spirit of Daniel 11:32, which states: the people who know their God will display strength and take action. This remarkable prayer gathering, which began on Nov. 4, 2020, has evolved into a consecutively running session of more than 1,200 nights and is still going strong.

Pastor Rick Warzywak, of Transformation Michigan, reflects on its inception: “On November 4, 2020, we witnessed a fraudulent election that turned our nation towards evil. Corey Shankleton called me and said we needed to start a prayer call for 70 days. We talked to Mark Gurley, and he was in agreement. The nightly prayer call was intended to last for 70 days through the first part of January 2021. We began with 20 people, and hundreds joined as we prayed seven days a week. Many state and national leaders joined us, turning this into a time to train, encourage, and equip the body of Christ. After 70 days, we decided to extend to 300 nights. That milestone passed, and we are now over three years, going on four. We have formed a radical prayer and action remnant, part of the Ecclesia God is calling forth in our nation to save America.”

As with IFA’s calls, this 9 p.m. call not only provides news topics, but also a platform for intercessors to come before the throne of God and pray for people and events. Though most participants are from Michigan, some join in from other states. The shift to online prayer meetings due to COVID has encouraged geographically distant individuals to pray together, creating an online fellowship or church. Between days 100 and 500, roughly 700 callers, representing 40-plus states, regularly participated in the call, expressing gratitude for the peace of mind it brings in challenging times.

Leading the call are three strong Michigan pastors: Warzywak, Dr. Mark Gurley, and Corey Shankleton. Warzywak, the founder of Transformation Michigan, initiated the ministry in April 2006 with a vision to “unite Michigan in prayer, 83 counties, 24/7, 365 days a year.” Dr. Gurley, a financial adviser as well as an ordained pastor, leads the Sunday night calls, in which he focuses on healing. Shankleton, president of Faith2Action Michigan and a former president of MI Heartbeat Coalition, played a vital role in the nation’s first Heartbeat Bill.

Distinguished guests, including Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin (Ret.), Rick Joyner, Chris Reed, and various political figures, have shared on the call. Audio clips from Christian news sources, such as Elijah Streams, Gene Bailey’s Flashpoint, and MorningStar Ministries, are played and prayed into. Participants have the opportunity to partake in Communion, and worship songs, sometimes with guitar accompaniment, are offered. Some even call in early to pray for the call itself before it starts.

The conference call is open to anyone, with no ID number of any sort required. Participants dial (727) 731-2247, and the leaders can mute and unmute callers for prayer. The formal part of the call concludes at 10 p.m., but participants are invited to stay on the line and pray until 10:30. Recordings of previous calls are available on the Transformation Michigan website (www.transformmi.com).

At the end of each call, listeners are encouraged to “Stay the course, hold the line, don’t give up.”
