I Prayed have prayed
Father, we ask that You would use this suffering as a chance to break through to even the hardest hearts with the gospel, Lord.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Americans are suffering and there seems to be no end in sight. Let’s pray that the God of comfort and restoration breaks in. May these hard times become open doors for Jesus.

From Gallup. The percentage of Americans who evaluate their lives poorly enough to be considered “suffering” on Gallup’s Life Evaluation Index was 5.6% in July, the highest since the index’s inception in 2008. This exceeds the previous high of 4.8% measured in April and is statistically higher than all prior estimates in the COVID-19 era. Across extensive measurement since January 2008, the suffering percentage has reached 4.5% or higher on a handful of occasions.

Who is praying on the wall?

The most recent results, obtained July 26 to Aug. 2, 2022, are based on web surveys of 3,649 U.S. adults as a part of the Gallup Panel, a probability-based, non-opt-in panel of about 115,000 adults across all 50 states and the District of Columbia….

Daily Stress and Worry Climb Higher Than One Year Ago

In addition to general life ratings, Gallup tracks whether Americans have recently experienced specific emotions in their daily lives, including stress and worry.

Americans’ reports of experiencing stress have edged up to 48% from 43% in July 2021. They remain well below the 60% recorded in March 2020 at the start of the pandemic. Daily worry, at 42%, is also elevated in comparison to the 38% of one year ago, but still lower than the March 2020 reading of 59%.

The spikes Gallup measured in March 2020 were about four times greater than the increases seen in 2008 as a result of the Great Recession.

Implications

Since reaching a record high in June 2021, life ratings among American adults have steadily worsened. The 5.6% suffering rate in July marks the first time the Gallup measure has exceeded 5% in the U.S. and translates to an estimated 14 million American adults.

Economic conditions are likely a major contributing factor to these worsening scores … inflation remains near a 40-year high and is the problem Americans cite most often today in an open-ended question….

Dovetailing with economic headwinds is a rising discontentment with U.S. moral values, which has reached a record high, with 50% of Americans reporting the state of moral values is “poor” and 37% “only fair,” a sentiment that could be negatively influencing life ratings generally.

Father God,
In Jesus Name I ask You to help Christians to “ strengthen themselves in the LORD” as David did when all his family and possessions had been stolen by the Amalekites.

Help us hide Your word in our hearts and proclaim it whenever we feel low, or, focus our thoughts in a song of praise.
“I will bless the LORD at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 145:1
Thank You, Father, for “Your mercy is everlasting and Your faithfulness endures throughout all generations.” Psalm 100
Jesus loves me, this I know.
Amen

Father, fill you people with the joy of salvation. As we see the problems, may we look to you and have peace. May we pray against the evil as you would have us do, but may we trust in you and by your joy and love for each other draw many to you. May these difficulties we are experiencing bring the revival on fully that is beginning. May we praise your name and not fear.

Please God, open the eyes of the American people. I think many see our morals are crumbling, they just think it’s not their problem, it’s all the people out there! Help each one of us to humble our hearts, bow down and repent and turn to You! You are our only hope!!

I never thought in my life time of 65 years, I would see what we are seeing. It is heartbreaking not for people my age, but the younger people. My heart breaks for the babies that they love to abort. I have never seen so much wickedness. Only God Almighty can do anything….. Please remember to keep praying for our babies, this is there plan to destroy them….

I look back at almost 66 years old, remembering a nation that waved its flag proudly and stood together on the big issues. There was trust and peace among this nation’s citizens.
I, and many others who can remember our great nation, are astounded at what has become of it. We don’t need an enemy. We ourselves are destroying it.
We cry aloud to the one True God on His holy hill believing together He will make ALL things new. Thankfully His children know only the Triune God is in control. May His grace, His love and His communion flow through our United States of America and bring many of us back on our knees in humility and repentance.

I believe this and feel this everyday. I see it in so many friends and families around us. God’s Word tells us of it and prepares us for the reality of suffering so that we are not without hope. We all know that it gives us the opportunity to walk with others during these times in the darkest hours or even the valleys. I see Jesus using it to prepare for the day when we meet him face to face in all His Glory. Nothing will compare. For now we pray for God to use these times to bring many to Himself. Lord your will be done here as it is in Heaven.
