In times of social chaos and instability, the life of someone rooted and grounded in the love of Christ is interesting and abnormal in the best way.

In times of increased confusion and deception, a leader who holds fast to the truth no matter what is appealing.

I am part of a communication channel between leaders throughout corporate America, government and other realms of influence who chat regularly about what it looks like to share the gospel in these “high places.”

I’ve been encouraged by their testimonies of salvation and boldness, risking their reputation in the workplace to exalt Jesus’ name and win souls for Him. These salvations and spiritual conversations are not happening at church. They are happening in the office, at happy hours, on Zoom calls. God is moving!

I spoke with one of the leading folks I know who shares the gospel in the workplace with regularity in his job in corporate America, a place often seen as off-limits to that kind of personal, let alone spiritual, conversation.

I wanted to know what he is seeing in the workplace and how we can partner with him and others like him in prayer.

From my source:

I would say that in the workplace what I’m seeing is there is a very real spiritual hunger for righteousness and to know someone who has an authentic spirituality, and that leads to lots of opportunities to pray for people at work, to love them well, and to share the reason for my hope.

That takes place at happy hours, sometimes even during work meetings, and it enables me to just share stories and testimonies of how God has been moving in a way that really inspires people in a way that makes them want to learn more about Jesus and the gospel.

My source said he is able to share testimonies or have spiritual conversations two or three times per week in the workplace.

Virtually, in person, all of the above. So I would say the main prayer assignment is that… that the spiritual hunger would be translated into real discipleship and people learning to obey Jesus’ commands and to ultimately receive salvation through their faith and obedience. 

There is just a real need for leaders and voices in the midst of what is obviously a very complex and difficult time for people coming off of the pandemic and considering domestic and global events…What I’m seeing in corporate America is that people who can embody the faith and hope and perspective of Jesus in the middle of that, it draws people, attracts them, and that it opens doors for just sharing the love of Christ with folks. 

My source asked for intercession “that the people of God would be light and salt in the midst of our social chaos.” 

Don’t we need bold witnesses for Jesus in D.C. and corporate America?

Then surely they deserve our prayers.

With this in mind, let us pray:

-Father we ask that you would strengthen and protect these believers who are sharing the gospel boldly in the places of influence around the country. Bless the work of their hands, and breathe life on their ministry, Lord!

-Father, let this movement spread like wildfire. Set believers on fire around the nation to pray for the sick in the workplace, to share the gospel over Zoom, to do inner healing prayer at happy hours, etc. Help us to not restrict your work to the four walls of the church, Lord.

-Father, we also ask that you would give us this same boldness to share your gospel regardless of if we will lose our jobs or be ridiculed. Let us represent you well, since you are returning soon. Rid us of the fear of man, Lord!

Verses to press into as you intercede on this issue:

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by people.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. our light must shine before people in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
