I Prayed have prayed
Lord, please be a refuge and strength for our Chinese brothers and sisters being driven offline and underground for their faith in You. Please give us and our leaders boldness to be a voice for them. We pray for a new dawn to shine in that land. May the hearts of the leaders and the people in China turn to You.

When the coronavirus pandemic took hold two years ago, online church became a lifeline for many Christians around the United States. Now, with many hoping the worst is behind us, church-goers in America are debating the proper role of livestreaming, social media, and other digital offerings as aids in regular worship and community outreach.

It’s an important conversation. But what if its premise was undercut? What if online church was prohibited?

That is the situation now facing tens of millions of our brothers and sisters in Christ in China. On March 1 — just days after the Olympics wrapped up in Beijing — a new ban on huge swaths of online religious content came into force.

China’s State Administration of Religious Affairs promulgated these “Measures for the Administration of Internet Religious Information Services” shortly before Christmas. In essence, a license from the communist state’s authorities are now required for any group to legally use online tools like websites, social media, text messaging, apps, and livestreams to distribute faith content.

Christians and other religious minorities are at risk of surveillance, intimidation, and worse in China. The communist giant views followers of Christ as a threat to its power and this new online rule is a next step in President Xi Jinping’s “Sinicization” campaign against those who refuse to bow to state-approved religion.

“Any reference to religion on the web is now totally illegal in China, including sharing content online – which means that the unregistered or housechurch movement has effectively been driven offline,” said David Landrum of Open Doors, which lists China in its top 20 most dangerous places for Christians on the 2022 World Watch List.

Between pandemic restrictions and intensified state persecution, many Christians took to online environments for communication and fellowship. But that did not sit well with the communist authorities. When China announced its new internet mandate, Gina Goh of International Christian Concern (ICC) noted the Chinese Communist Party “intends to control every aspect of a Chinese citizen’s religious life.”

“The CCP’s latest measure reveals the regime’s determination to crush religious groups that are not vetted by Beijing,” she said.

Of course, hope is not lost for our brothers and sisters forced underground. Following the new internet ban, one Chinese missions pastor suggested in Christianity Today that the Chinese people have always been creative in finding ways around such directives. Highlighting opportunities and challenges of coming technological changes like the metaverse, he said, “To this day, I still firmly believe that the greatest feature of new media is that it has overturned the power, capital, and monopoly of elites over the right to speak. This is its essential characteristic and will not change. The future will continue to see a competition between strong measures and (hopefully) even stronger countermeasures.”

Let’s continue to pray for Christians in China as they seek to honor Christ under such an aggressive and  repressive regime. Let’s pray, too, that our leaders continue to speak up against this growing hostility to people of faith.

On that note, some observers noticed that U.S. President Joe Biden failed to highlight China’s human rights abuses in his recent State of the Union address. Despite official determinations that China is guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity and leading a diplomatic boycott during the Beijing Olympics, Biden focused on China as an economic rival in his premiere speech. ICC, for one, found the omission of a high profile condemnation of China’s abuses to be “very troubling.”

So let us not let up in standing for our brothers and sisters in Christ in China. Let’s pray for favor and courage for them and influential voices who will speak for them.

How are you praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ in China?

Prayed that Gods Angels will speak to China, Ukraine to keep praying, Asking God to protect them and give them wisdom of their decisions as they are caught in this terrible war that Russia is forcing upon them. I lift up Gods Mercy upon the areas that are being attacked. I ask God to protect the children, dad’s & Moms to call on Jesus name.I pray for the babies that were born during all of this Chaos’s that they live and be protected. I’ve asked God to make away where there is no way. I pray that Israel will be protected as well as USA. I bind all the demonic spirits that think they are winning, Got news for them and the Leftist party, that Jesus blood 🩸 is covering us and they will be bound and stopped there, torment to the people will not prevail. I’ve asked God to send His Warrior Angels to destroy any fiery darts that will try to come forth to kill, destroy the Believers. I think we all need to put on all of Gods Armor. I feel in my spirit a rush of Hope that Victory is ours if we do not back down. Fight a good fight in Jesus name.

LORD of HOSTS please turn the hearts of those in the CCP to Christ. Open their eyes that they may see the truth, and hunger for You. Please help and deliver Christian lawyer and long-time prisoner Gao Zhisheng and countless others like him who suffer captivity, torture, slavery, and separation from loved ones because they are Christian believers. Let the Gospel be fruitful and multiply and cover all of China! Thank You that Uyghurs are leaving Islam and coming to faith in You, too! In the Mighty and Precious NAME of JESUS CHRIST, AMEN!

David would not give to God an offering that cost him nothing. The rich young ruler didn’t follow Jesus, because he didn’t want to part with his riches, he wasn’t willing to give anything up. Our brothers and sisters in China are an example and an inspiration to us as they hold onto their faith in God, even when it is very costly and downright dangerous for them to practice their faith and worship together and learn from God’s word, all opportunities we here take for granted. We had better pay attention to how they stand steadfast in their faith under persecution from their own government, because we may too soon be facing similar circumstances, actually we are already experiencing unprecedented censorship and “cancelling” of speech our government/media doesn’t agree with. God’s Truth is being censored, and without truth there is no freedom. “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com

One thing of which I am certain- persecution, such as that which is occurring in China, is only going to grow the church wherever it happens. Lord Jesus, please protect our brothers and sisters of like precious faith in China, and all over the world. We thank and praise you for turning what Satan means for evil into good for Your Body. We thank you for the favor that you give to us as believers. In Jesus’ name.

Lord Jesus, almighty powerful and loving creator God. You made us in your image. You placed your Spirit in us when we believed in faith that Jesus Christ is your son and rose from the dead. Please pour courage in to our beloved Chinese brothers & sisters in Christ. Place blinders and ear plugs over the state spies during all times of worship, praise, and prayer. We stand with them and help us Holy Spirit to pray faithful and know they suffer for our faith in our loving Christ .

Deliver and save freedom for your name’s sake Jehovah.
