I Prayed have prayed
Lord, You gave the word and You say that great is the company of those who proclaim it! May the reading of Your Word bring light and life. (Ps 68:11)
Reading Time: 3 minutes

During this time of uncertainty and division, let us UNITE as THE BODY OF CHRIST with humility and boldness, by proclaiming God’s Word over our nation through a Bible Read-a-Thon!  So simple.  Yet so powerful.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. –Hebrews 4:12

The BIBLE READ-A-THON originally began before the election as a 7-day initiative and was originally hosted by Capitol Hill Prayer Partners with participants from several other ministries including Intercessors For America.  IFA intercessor Karen Quiroz was led by God to extend the Bible reading over our nation, and has reached out to us to share that leading.  We enlisted Karen to help us spearhead this effort!  Whether you participated in the last round of readings, or you are new to joining in, we are grateful for the power God’s Word has as we collectively and continually read it over our nation in this critical time.

It’s as simple as 1-2-3!

  1. Sign up for a 1-hour time block for yourself or your family to read by CLICKING HERE or click TAKE ACTION below.
  2. Watch for detailed directions that will be sent to you.  Each hour of every day will have 2 slots to be filled so participants will take turns reading chapters out loud with 1 other person or family in America.
  3. Call in to read at your assigned time. This reading will take place using a NEW DEDICATED conference line just for the Bible reading: (605) 475-3250 access code 148275#. The “baton” will continue to pass from caller to caller and each 1-hour shift will continue in the Bible where the previous readers left off.

Involve your family! Anyone who can read at a 6th-grade level can participate so this can be a time of family ministry.  Sign up for 1 hour, or take multiple shifts because as time progresses, we will add more sign up spots with the goal of covering America until Inauguration Day!

During this difficult time, we may not know what or how to pray.  The Bible Read-a-Thon provides a great opportunity for silent intercession and silent agreement with Scripture as the Word of God is being read. Praying God’s Word is powerful! When you are not the reader, you can be praying silently as God’s Word is going forth.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
-Isaiah 55:11

PLEASE SHARE THIS EMAIL WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS you may know who may be interested (you can even ask a friend to sign up for the same shift and read together), but we ask that you DO NOT post this event on social media as we want to avoid any outside interference from hostile groups.

Not only will you be fighting for freedom and justice,  and proclaiming the name of Jesus, but we believe and pray that you will personally be edified and encouraged as has been our experience! Share this article to invite others to participate. Ready to join in?  It’s easy, just click TAKE ACTION below.

In my morning Bible reading, I had the pleasure of reading in 2 Chronicles chapters 6 – 24. Wow! I have never been so intrigued when reading the history of the Kings of Israel and Judah. So much drama! Good and bad! This would make an excellent movie!
Today, there were so many relevant verses that leapt off the page to me! I was taking turns reading with a woman named, Sandra, who like me, felt the Holy Spirit speaking to us on behalf of our nation. With the Bible Readathon, our purpose and intent, is not only to read God’s word in obedience and out of love and devotion to the Lord, but also to apply that scripture to our lives, and today’s reading did NOT disappoint!! It encouraged us, over and over again, that God is faithful to hear the cries of his people! We are HIS people, crying out – literally at times – for God’s intervention in what we see going on in America today. This encouragement from the scriptures that I want to share with you today is very timely, and I hope that it ministers to you like it did to me.
First, our reading focused on Solomon’s words, when he was dedicating the temple to God. I like in 2 Chronicles chapter 6: verse 14 (ESV) where Solomon says, “O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven or on earth, keeping covenant and showing steadfast love to your servants who walk before you with all their heart…” How true it is! God is faithful, and we should never forget that!
Later, Solomon is speaking scenarios of troubles that Israel (or God’s people) might endure and praying that even through those circumstances, if the people cry out to God, with humble hearts, that God will hear their pleas, forgive them and work on their behalf. One example, particularly spoke to me – chapter 6, verses 28 – 31:
‘If there is famine in the land, if there is pestilence (hello, Corona Virus) or blight or mildew, or locust or caterpillar, if their [God’s people] enemies besiege them in the land at their gates, whatever plague, whatever sickness there is, whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all your people Israel, each knowing his own affliction and his own sorrow and stretching out his hands toward this house [God’s temple], then hear from heaven your dwelling place and forgive and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways, for you, you only, know the hearts of the children of mankind, that they may fear you and walk in your ways all the days that they live in the land that you gave to our fathers.”
You have probably heard this famous verse:
‘if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.’ (- 2 Chronicles 7:14)
This was God’s answer to Solomon that night after the dedication of the temple, when Solomon was asking this very thing from God. How good is God!? God cares! He cared for Solomon, and He cares for you. He hears us. YOUR prayers are heard. They are valued. They are answered! By the God of everything! How amazing is that? My fellow intercessors, do NOT give up. Don’t think that just because we may not hear God’s voice audibly that our prayers aren’t being answered! Far from it. We see it time and time again in His word, that if people change their hearts, pursue the Lord, and cry out to Him for help, He will do it! Are you doing your part?

Today looks like the last day for this but I’m praying it will continue! I’m home alone so much and this has jump started my spirit to read more.
What a blessing this has been! A deeper understanding has come. The reality of many concepts has come alive. I don’t have the words to say how much this has meant to me.
If it doesn’t continue, it has sparked a new desire for the Word. Thank you IFA for hosting this.

Tom, call the number in the instructions and put in the code. You can just listen to whoever is reading.
Hope that works for you and Happy New Year.

Hi Iris – Thanks so much! They should have been sent to your email around 6pm tonight. Did you receive them yet?

      November 8, 2020

No, I didn’t receive them, but am on PST, and it is 6:55 here right now.

P.S. I now realize I didn’t take into account the time difference and would like to retract my current sign-ups and start over if that’s possible.

        November 8, 2020

Absolutely! Just log in to your account. After you sign in, the “Sign Ups” page appears. Click the pencil on the shift if you want to edit the “My Comment” box and then click the brown “update my sign up” box at the bottom. To delete the shift, instead of clicking on the pencil, click on the X next to the shift you want to delete. And you already know how to sign up for shifts :-). On that same “Sign Ups” page, below your Sign Ups, are “Sign Ups You’ve Been Invited to”. Click on the IFA Bible Read-A-Thon which will take you to the main page and you can download the Instruction/info document there. Please let me know if you have any other questions or need more help.

I couldn’t make it work, and need for you to delete all my sign-ups for me. I find I’ll probably be having some service work done both days I signed up for and will have to try again another time. I signed up for tomorrow, 11/9, 4-5:00 p.m. EST and 11/10, 2-3:00 EST.
          Thanks.

Thank you.

Thanks for your interest! Readers are instructed to call the conference line 5 min. before their shift starts to hear where the previous shift is ending. This information will also be noted on the sign up page for each shift under “my comments” (it will be filled in by the person who read). Tomorrow there will be a download on our SignUpGenius page with more detailed directions. If you already signed up for a shift we will email you the information as well.

Thanks for your reply! A friend of mine signed up already and we had no idea what to read! So we picked our own already! We didn’t see anything listed at “ my comment “ of the previous reader successfully ! Also some are not signed up at this point! We went ahead to sign up the hours twice per day that workable for us!
Do we need to cancel the books that we read ?

      God bless !

        November 7, 2020

Thanks Herbera – I’m sorry for the confusion. People will post in the my comment section AFTER they complete their shift. You can go in and edit your shift and just remove the book you listed. When you call in 5 minutes before your shift starts, you will hear where they end. If no one signed up for the shift before yours, then you can look on SignUpGenius under your day and scan the shifts to find the MOST RECENT Completed reading in the “My Comment” box. Does this make sense? That’s great that you signed up with a friend!

Thanks Cindy! Yes, you are welcome to listen by calling the NEW DEDICATED conference line just for the Bible reading: (605) 475-3250 access code 148275#. When you join a call, the others on the line will hear a “ding” and an automated voice will ask you to announce yourself. If someone is reading, please wait until they finish their chapter, then say, “Hi this is Cindy from (say your state) and I am joining as a listener.” We appreciate your silent intercession! If you would like to pray out loud, then please press *6 on your phone to mute yourself (you will still be able to hear the reading :-)).
