RIOTS, VIOLENCE, AND DANGER—IS IT GROWING? HOW DO WE PRAY?
GEORGE FLOYD AND 1921 TULSA
The 99th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre this weekend, the worst race riot in America’s history, documents the danger when fear and prejudice take over.
That incident took place from May 31-June 1 1921 in Tulsa’s Greenwood District. The district, dubbed “Black Wall Street,” was the most prosperous African-American community in America. Within hours it was gone; ravaged by a white mob.
According to History.com, it was comprised of luxury shops, restaurants, grocery stores, hotels, jewelry and clothing stores, movie theaters, barbershops/salons, a library, pool halls, night clubs, and offices for doctors, lawyers and dentists. Less affluent African-Americans lived there as well, working as janitors, dishwashers and domestics. It had its own school system, post office, bank and hospital. Money earned outside of Greenwood was spent within the district, where every dollar changed hands approximately nineteen times before it left the community.
But all of that disappeared in a mere eighteen hours when virtually every building in a forty-two-square-block area of the community was destroyed.
According to Tulsa author Janice Ponds, “A black teen shoe shiner was accused of sexually assaulting a white female elevator operator. The story spread quickly and almost immediately escalated to violence. The shoe shiner was jailed. As word circulated of plans to lynch him, a crowd showed up at the courthouse. A confrontation between the white community and black community quickly spread to the Greenwood District. Homes, schools, churches and businesses were burned to the ground. Reports estimated 300 black Tulsans were massacred and approximately 8,000 left homeless and penniless.”
Thousands of African Americans spent the winter of 1921-1922 living in tents. In the end, no charges were filed against the African-American teen. Although reports vary, it is believed he tripped and bumped into the female elevator operator, causing her to scream, leading to the sexual assault allegation. As word spread, the story grew. The senseless massacre that destroyed Black Wall Street was in part the result of an article published in the city newspaper carried by word of mouth. Fear turned to hysteria sparking a rampage for “justice.”
Yet, it was all a lie.
How quickly we can be stirred into a frenzy because we believe something to be true without waiting for facts. As a result, in the Tulsa riot, black families lost loved ones, their homes, and businesses. Black Wall Street was decimated and never rebuilt. That is what racism does.
Fast forward to George Floyd.
I may anger some readers with this statement, but personally I do not believe the majority of American’s are racist. I do not believe that most of us see people by the color of their skin. Furthermore, I do not believe President Trump is a racist. In fact all evidence from the past forty plus years show a man who has befriended people of all ethnicities all over the world.
But this isn’t about Trump. It is about us.
Since Floyd’s death in Minneapolis rioters have flooded the streets burning and looting buildings–some owned by black business owners. Why? It hasn’t brought justice. But it has resulted in more needless death.
While we know the Tulsa Race Massacre was due to racism, what do we know about Floyd’s murder? That question may anger some, but if we call this racism simply because the police officers are white and the victim black—that statement in and of itself is racist. We have made an assumption based on skin colors.
The only fact we know is what we see in the six-minute video which clearly shows that Floyd should be alive today. He suffered and died at the hands of a white police officer now charged with murder. The question that demands an answer is, “Would this tragic death have happened if the man had been white or if the officers had been black?”
Whether we like it or not, racism is woven into the fabric of America’s history. But it didn’t start here. Racism is an ancient evil which can be seen in many countries and around the world. And it’s not just white vs. black. It’s found wherever pride regarding skin color or culture drive our emotions and decisions. The only way to be rid of it is for it to be pulled up at the root.
Areas like Black Wall Street, which were never restored, create a festering wound. Although white pastors in our city have repented to black pastors and their congregations for what took place almost a hundred years ago, the root of distrust remains in my city and in our nation. And with reason.
What will it take to see it removed? We must deal with the root, which isn’t about the color of our skin, but an attitude of the heart.
Until then division will continue.
Unfortunately, some want division to continue. These incidents have been intentionally used to stoke the fire of racism. Why? Because reconciliation will bring unity. And unity is a powerful force.
Over the last ten years, I have watched the race card intentionally used again and again to create division. It is happening now. It seems almost every news story is contingent upon first stating the color of one’s skin. That is the core of racism.
When pride in our ethnic and cultural identity becomes the reason for our decisions, emotions, allegiance, or even our vote, we have succumbed to this ancient evil.
Healing can only begin when we are willing to address the issue in our heart.
There is a simple instruction in the Bible that covers the heart issue found in Mark 12:30-31:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Before we can see this divide heal, we must address two issues in America today.
- People who don’t love themselves and so they don’t know how to love their neighbor.
- People who love only themselves and have no concern for their neighbor.
If we truly followed God’s command to love our neighbor (red, yellow, black or white) it would eliminate the issue.
When the first commandment–to love God is ignored, it’s no wonder we find ourselves imprisoned by the hatred of racism. The commandment to love God and love our neighbor have been rejected as irrelevant, but it’s completely relevant. Because racism is a heart issue.
It is past time that we see the racial division that has marked our country come to an end. Until we learn to love our neighbor, the divide will remain.
It requires we take off the glasses of offense and pride and recognize God created us all in His image. All men/women are created equal. We must look at the inside, not the outside.
But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (I Sam 16:7).
Lord, we ask you to heal the divide between races and culture. Help us to recognize that You created us all equal. May the spirit of pride, that exists within us all, be brought low so that “pride” in our color and heritage is no longer what drives our decisions or actions or what causes offense.
May our relationship with You and Your word to “love our brother as ourselves” determine our response. Lord we ask you to restore what was stolen. I pray not only for the wound still present in the city and Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma, but every area in our nation that experienced destruction due to racism.
We pray for justice in the tragic death of George Floyd and pray for his family. We pray for Minneapolis and ask for wisdom. Lord protect us from those who would use this tragedy for their own benefit and narrative. We pray they would not succeed. We pray for the business owners who have had their businesses destroyed due to no fault of their own. We pray for revival and restoration not only of the businesses, but in that city and our nation.
We ask that the disparity between races in educational and economic opportunities come to an end. Lord, may shaming, prejudice, hatred, and offense bow its knee to the name of Jesus and we ask that you would heal our land and our homes and bring unity. Amen.

First why would you start this article about the riot in Okla. Couldn’t you have started this article giving some sympathy and empathy to the family about George Floyd who was killed. And about jumping to conclusions before the fact.. well the facts is if you have eyes to see the police killed George Floyd with his knee on his neck everybody saw that. You also stated you didn’t think the majority of America is racist. Until you fear for your husband, son & grandson life’s like millions of black people in America do…then don’t talk to me about racism because you have no idea about racism.
The answer to the end of racism in world does start with the heart of man. It also has to do with loving each other as our selves. Karen states that most people don’t love themselves, so how can they love someone else. The church is the light of this world and we must be unified in what we say and what we do. The world must see us a one. Jesus declared the world will know that you are my disciples because of the love you have for one another.
Who was she referring to in her two issues?
I noticed that no one is mentioning the fact that he did 5-years for ARMED robbery, is it just possible that maybe the cops had something to worry about it??!!! Every day a cop gets shot from a reg traffic stop because of someone carrying a gun. Did they run the plates? Were they aware this man could be violent? What the cops did was wrong, but let us not make out Floyd to be a saint.
Saint or not, that’s why we have a judicial system. Police are supposed to take suspects in to custody not excute judgement.
I believe I did say, “what the cops did was wrong!!” This cop especially had hate in his heart and got high off of the power of controlling people. He sickens me….I just want people to look at both sides. See I have a nephew (a white man, married to black girl and two beautiful babies.) He works for AMT (emergency medical team). He goes in the trenches of cities where first responders don’t want to go. During the riot in Denver this past week he was giving medical treatment to a black protester (not a rioter) when a rioter, wearing all black (and having a skull painted on his face mask) Came up to my nephew and hit him in the head with a brick. A cop took the rioter down, my nephew was transported to the hospital, that was Saturday night. He is still in a coma, he is barely hanging on to his life. He was trying to save lives…….he didn’t see skin color….he saw someone and troubled and helped. Soon his sweet wife (and I again enforce she is black, those babies are mixed) May have to do without a daddy too. And those babies (5 months and 3 years are watching building burn around them and because of the COVID his wife can’t be at the hospital to hold his hand and be there with him. The cop that attacked that rioter protected him from another blow coming down on his head. We have to see both sides. I can’t understand what it is like to black, but I can understand a person’s heart and I can understand a person’s tears no matter what the skin color. And I can pray. If it were me that had lost a loved one, I would be standing in front of the rioters and saying…..go back to your home and your states, we don’t want this here in our neighborhood. There is a difference between rioting and protesting. As far as the judicial system. They have been arrested, trail and judgment is months down the road…..in the meantime do ALL of us watch our world be burned down and destroyed. What does destruction prove? It is already hard enough to get necessities to feed our family and take care of them….soon there won’t be a store to shop in even if they did have the food. And when I say OUR I mean OUR (every race and creed–we all have to live in this world.)
Goldie, my heart goes out to you and I’m praying for recovery for your nephew and healing for our nation. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
Goldie, please keep us updated. Praying for your family.
I encourage all believers to watch this recent 1 1/2 hour interview with TD Jakes. I’m a white American who has several African American friends but have come to realize I have been clueless as to the depth of what my African American friends experience even now on a regular basis. It’s hard to summarize this interview; Pastor Jakes touches on so many key issues that all of us of every race and color need to hear. I strongly implore every American of every race to prayerfully watch this interview. Jesus’ prayer in John 17 for us to “be one” even as He and the Father are one, will be answered! Will we choose to let the Holy Spirit answer that prayer through us? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYku4vlwnTQ
I was a Republican for 30 years. I never been a Democrat. I am an African American male and continue to possess conservative views, but I am an Independent now. I voted for President Trump. At that time, I believed he was the best candidate for president.
I appreciate the article, but I can tell the author was trying to be politically correct by talking about Tulsa’s Black Wall Street and George Floyd. Many times, people who are racist do not know they are racist. The author highlighted President Trump is not a racist, but I beg to differ.
I voted for President Trump but soon became very disappointed in President Trump racist remarks about minorities. I began to see other things that greatly disturbed me about the President of the United States, whom I voted for. In the beginning of his presidency I was grieved over the hiring of Mr. Steve Bannon as his chief strategist. I was surprised Mr. Bannon was hired as his chief strategist because he is of the “Alt Right” which promotes white identity and racism. I thought, if the President is not a racist why is the first person hired as his chief strategist is an Alt Right? I also, was surprise that very few of my religious “conservative right” brothers did not challenge President Trump’s racist remarks about the African nations and Mexican people.
When we are silent about injustice, we are also part of injustice. As a conservative, I am disappointed that this writer and my white brothers and sisters in Christ justifies the President racist remarks by saying he is not racist or nor do they stand up for the poor and needy which are the minorities in these type of situation.
The author chose to talk about the massacre of Tulsa, OK’s African American community and George Floyd. She must make sure that the context involves the 400 years of slavery of Africa Americans, the Jim Crow laws, and other atrocities suffered by African American because of the color of their skin. It has only been 55 years that Africa Americans received the right to vote (Voting Rights Act of 1965), and equality education. Even today, the fight continues in this area for equality for Africa Americans. Because African Americans have continued to be considered less than a human, we have never received justice after 400 years of injustice. The degrading and dehumanizing experience we observed happening to Mr. George Floyd, pinned down, handcuffed, choked and gasping “I can’t breathe” clearly evidences that this mindset still exist. Remember white officers felt free to kill an Africa American in public and did not fear the consequences for murdering a man who hands were handcuffed. That has been the mindset of some white officers.
Where is the justice for African Americans? A recent analysis by advocacy group Mapping Police Violence found that 99 percent of police killing Africa Americans from 2014 to 2019 did not results in officers being charged let alone convicted of a crime. So, when I read an article that says, ‘we have a problem and we all needs to work on it’,( after 400 years of injustice in this country due to skin color), I must conclude that people do not want understand the real problem and because of this mindset injustice and flagrant abuse of power remains.
I’m not understanding why you repeatedly use the term African Americans. I would think after all these years you would just say, Americans. Is it to exalt the African portion over American? I am just trying to figure it out, and do not mean any harm. Maybe you can clarify. Thank you
Janet, I appreciate your concern about me not just saying, Americans. I was born here in America but my roots are from Africa. As you know, the history of slavery where Africans were forced to come here to America to work as slaves for over 400 years. When individual fails to know his or her identity, he/she fails to know one purpose in life.
Whites have given us names as nigger, color, Negro and Black but never identified our true identity. These names were not to encourage us but to belittle us. We were never considered Americans but Africans who were slaves for white men’s labor force. So, I identify myself as an African American man. I hope this answer your question.
So am I do address my self as Irish-American? India American, Japanese American. And please let us be clear. Slavery is wrong–in any nation but even African Americans in Africa had slaves, Indians too, the people left from battles with other natives and turned them into slaves, Jews were slaughtered by the millions. I love everyone and I love watching the beauty in each race. I’ve never noticed black, white or yellow. I see a beautiful face and say wow, your beautiful, I see a smile that knocks your socks off and I say it. I see someone sacrifice to better others (nurses, doctors, military, police, EMT, a person that stopped and help load groceries or help change a flat tire and I say thank you, for your heart. Thank you, for being a strong, loving person with values. Now, I have people tell me I am racist because of that attitude. My mother, who would be 104 now, said. All colors are precious in His sight, not to look at the persons skin, but to look into their heart, to look at the blood and tears they shed. They shed the same blood and the same tears. I’ve always treated people that way. Now I’m a piece of shit because my skin is white and I have red hair. I hate all the inconsities of this!!
Thank you Karen for a very informative article. God Bless you! May our nation seek the face of GOD for the deep healing needed for this nation. Let us all remember GOD is still in control!!!
Our nation should be on both knees in prayer!!
While many protesting are encouraged to “take a knee”, I implore the christian community to “take 2 knees”. Pray for this nation 2Chronicles 7:14 : Humble, Pray, Seek and Turn. Pray against the sins of this Nation. One of them being Racism / Biases toward our fellow man. This is a wicked evil. We are not fighting with flesh n blood, but against the powers of darkness and spiritual forces of evil. God told us to Love one another, yet many who are not saved can not Love with God’s Love, as it is shed across our hearts by the Holy Ghost. Pray for God to shed His light upon this darkness and wickedness of the unsaved, the civil unrest, chaos and mayhem. . . . and of course for the police officers (bad apples) / departments throughout the nation that they would not tolerate a culture with this kind of behavior in our communities.
thank you !
“Will the Real Christian Please Stand Up!”
How long will WE forget that we are one Body with many members and functions whose head is Yeshua Hamashiach. WE forget that as born again Christ followers (Acts 11:26), WE are Spirit first (live in a body and have a soul), WE are called to be Filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), WE Walk in the Spirit, (Gal 5:25) WE Live by faith in the Spirit(Gal 5:25) and Worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:24). Yet, our hearts are not fully devoted to God. The truth is, we can not fulfill the first half of the greatest commandment let alone the second half of the commandment to love God with our ALL (Matthew 22:34-40). The raw truth of this matter— we do not know our own wicked hearts(Jeremiah 17:9). Did I say wicked, yes, I reiterate”unapologetically wicked!” Sadly, many “Christians” are deceived by their own wicked hearts. I have been at times but by God’s grace, I have humbled myself and allowed the Holy Spirit to minister to me alone and through others (Prov 11:14, James 4:6-10). By the way, God is not color-blind. He knows each one of us personally (Ps. 103). He is the creator of diversity and a diverse population will be representatives of those in heaven (Revelation 7:9). Yes, throughout history, we see the depravity and justification of racism in the non-Christian and Christian” culture (e.g., Galatians 3:28). Since we know racism exists, why aren’t we acting like the opposite, as Real Christians. A 2019,The Pew Research on Social & Demographic Trends reports that “A majority of Americans say race relations in the United States are bad, and of those, about seven-in-ten say things are getting even worse. Roughly two-thirds say it has become more common for people to express racist or racially insensitive views since President Donald Trump was elected, even if not necessarily more acceptable”. My prayer for years have been that the “Real Church” will stand up, cry loud and spare not, show other Christians and the world its sins & transgressions (Isaiah 58:1).
WE must remember we are all Gentiles grafted in because the Jews rejected the Messiah, as Messiah (Ephesians 2:11-22). In Christ, the racism of “white privilege” doesn’t exist nor partiality(Galatians 3:28; James 2:3) The only real privileges born again Christians have are being bought with a price, crucified with Christ, servants of God who should possess supernatural and heavenly (not carnal or earthly)power. These privileges come but by the authority of God through Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit to heal the sick, cast out devils, speak with different languages to spread the Gospel, make disciples..(Matthew 28:18-20). How many of us are exercising these privileges whether African American, Euro-American, Latino, Asian or Jew)? And…. what about individual, Christian hypocrisy? Are we changing the culture or is the culture changing us? Let’s stop straining at a camel and swallowing a gnat (Matthew 23:24). The church should be a lighted city (unstained, walking in and toward perfection),light and salt of the world, but one of its biggest indictments of racism I experienced across America, is the worship hour, every Sunday at 11:00 am. We are walk far from God’s decree “Be ye HOLY for I am HOLY!” therefore we can offer little guidance to the next generation. Let’s no longer draw near to God and honor him with our words when our hearts are far from him (Matthew 15:8). My challenges: 1. 2 Chronicles 7, 2. Born again Christians walk in the light as He is in the light (1 John 1:7;Ephesians 5:8) and 3. Become culture changers vs culturally changed. Let us be living epistles (2 Corinthians 3:2)from which society can read the Gospel of salvation as we walk out Christ.
I’m not really sure where the term white privilege derived from ?? In Christ, Abrahams seed we all are blessed.. but there are conditions… Obey Gods voice and keep His commands. My view is alot of ppl want the blessing but not the covenant, and don’t want to obey. So when that is into play , it can appear some are “” privilege”” . I believe some of that is imaginations. I believe there are traces of racism in every ethnic group. Some things are just not the way they appear. How did ppl like Lt. Col. Allen West succeed, or Ben Carson, for just a few. How about Oprah?? Even though I don’t agree with her liberal views.. Sometimes the blessing can come down through generations from praying mothers and grandmothers. But Abrahams blessing is available to everyone who will line up with the Word of God. That is why I suggest alot of things are wrong mind sets. I am a white missionary. I have been to many black churches. Sometimes when I have been there is something in the air, that feels like this…O how nice a white lady came to be a part of our service today, with a feeling that I am higher than they are. I am being totally honest. I have wondered , why are these ppl thinking or projecting that I am superior, or extra special. I probably shouldn’t be so forthright to tell this. It’s NOT just one thing. There is error all the way around the circle. Every white face is not the face of the police killer of George Floyd. If I could have stopped that I would have. This is why there needs to be prayers going on over our family, our city, our nation, etc. 24/7
I will add these kind of happenings take place with white on black, black on white, white on white, black on black, mexican on mexican, mexican on black… Unfortunately it happens more than we want to think about. This is not an isolated case. When I saw the man in Georgia on the video who had been trespassing, I saw he jumped the man holding the rifle. when I saw that I said , OH NO… never jump a man with a weapon especially if you are unarmed. Another incident that should not have happened. What can we learn from that. Stay off of ppls property, I have to apply this to my life as well if I want to survive. .. The other thing is to not jump someone with a weapon. I wish that had not happened. LET US ALL LEARN … that what can I do , what can I do, what can I do, what can I do… so this doesn’t happen again..?? The retired black officer laid it all out, that the resident ppl who pursued him were not breaking any laws according to Georgia laws.. Anyway, what I’m telling you are guidelines I know I must live by too. We can’t put our lives in other ppls hands and think they are going to do what is best for me. I must take charge of my life. And not be found somewhere I am not suppossed to be, trespassing. I am not justifying anything !!! But we have to think critically and offensively. You know they tell you about driving, drive looking out for yourself and what the other person could do. Lord we pray this may never happen again. Help us obey the laws, and do all we can to help ourself too. May repentance and righteousness prevail in our land. In Jesus name
I appreciate your response and the opportunity to dialogue with you. I also appreciate that we have similar experiences in missions. But you did not do your homework. People with white privilege do not need to know where the term comes from, they live it. As you described in your church visit, you were a recipient of it. Not all people, as you have said, will give you the same reception that African American congregation gave you. I first saw the phrase white privilege written during my graduate education but had experienced it all my life (article by Peggy MacIntosh).
Ahmaud Arbery, the young man from Brunswick, GA., that you referred to was just one of several people who inspected the building that was going up on the property he jogged by. Video cam showed several whites inspecting the building but were not pursued. This was a premeditated murder, including the call to 911 to justify the actions that were to be taken. It took two months to bring this to the public. The only reason we can talk about this today, is that the video of the murder was leaked to the public to justify the killing, but it backfired. The young man was in a fighting mode because he was being chased by a car and truck occupied by men with guns as he jogged in his own community. The two District Attorneys did not take the case because they were connected – it was a conflict of interest (the murderer had ties with the DA and law enforcement as former police officer).
When it comes to danger or threat, you are thinking out of a renewed mind/saved. Secondly you are not an African American man who lives a life of continued threat of extinction. I can tell as I continued to read your response that you have some areas that are still deeply hidden from you around race and the benefits you have received as a result of being white. I educate people to count not on people Psalm 118:8 (ESV) says, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man”. I will never forget King David’s response when David answered Gad after he had sinned, “I am deeply distressed. Please, let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies are great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men”(2 Samuel 24:14).
My dear sister, God wants each of our hearts to be wholly/fully/totally devoted to him, seeking sanctification continually, transparent with ourselves and others, fearing Him. Then we can become as He is and behave as He does. It must start with us individually. When this happens, we can impact others. Jesus told Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”(Luke 22:32-34) Let us hear God as he said to Zerubbabel: “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” God yearns that His children become fully devoted and holy. However, we must have a willing heart, be brutally honest with ourselves and submit to Yeshua. God is looking for a people who not only give the gospel to others but by live the gospel (2 Corinthians 3:3).

I agree with what this reporter has said. However, I have a question which no report so far (of the ones I have heard) has addressed, and hopefully someone can. Why was George Floyd singled out as the victim? Was he just at the wrong place at the wrong time? Did this policeman just decide he wanted to grab a black person and kill him? Did this policeman have any record of abusive aggressive behavior in the past? Why did the other policemen stand around and watch making no attempt to intervene for eight minutes? Eight minutes!! Were they arrested as accessories to murder? The Word tells us that the spirit of lawlessness would increase before Jesus returns. Our time is growing short.
Not to mention the police officer and the victim used to work together at one time. Could that be why he was singled out? A grudge?
It is absolutely amazing that the writer of this article speaks more of the economic loss from the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 than the loss of so many innocent lives; she mentions the loss of affluent “Black Wall Street” businesses; yet, no mention of the 150-300 deaths at the hand of the white community. According to Oklahoma Commission estimates, there were approximately 150-300 deaths. It appears that the loss of human life, especially black lives, have such little regard here. The author, Karen Hardin states how wrong the incident was; yet, she says, “How quickly we can be stirred into a frenzy because we believe something to be true without waiting for facts“. Contrary to this statement, many Americans are “stirred into a frenzy” because we do have the facts! George Floyd died while he was down, on the ground, and hand-cuffed. We do know that the Police officer had his knee pinned on George Floyd’s neck, for at least 7 minutes, and we heard George pleading for his life, saying, “I can’t breathe; my stomach is hurting; I can’t breathe”. We do know fellow officers watched; and we do know that George died while the officers knee was still on his neck. We can agree with Karen Hardin about one thing: “This is what racism does”. It kills! ! Ms. Hardin says, “I do not believe that most of us see people by the color of their skin”. I am an American, of African ancestry; I live in this skin, every day; I experience racism more times than are countable, in and out of the Christian community; I am a born again Christian; I am a disciple of Jesus Christ; and I pray Ms. Hardin looks inside her heart before God, and is able to speak these words to Him in “Spirit and in Truth”. I do not believe even she believes her words; for in America, this is indeed a “matter of the skin”. There are many, many scriptures I can quote in regards to this race war we’re in; yet, what the Lord has put in my heart is this: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us”.
Jack, read the article again. She mentioned that approximately 300 black Tulsans were massacred. According to the story, we know that it wasn’t by other blacks. All lives matter, right? I hope so. Be blessed.
Thanks Barbara! I’ve re-read the article, and you’re right, she did mention the number of deaths which occurred. Thank God!
Many Blessings,
What I have learned in my walk with the Lord is if our heart is not open we cannot receive from another, God has strategically-placed African American men and women all through my life, that has had a powerful influence and impartation into my life now if I was holding judgment or racism in my heart towards them I would not be able to have received from them and honor them today it’s just a godly principle.
I read the article that she wrote I thought it was very well written and right to the point that my wife and I lived in Tulsa for a while and near the end of the stay there I found out what happened back in 1921 it’s a stain on the city and she’s correct when she says it still hasn’t healed there and that she’s very on target when she says about the spirit of racism in America until the heart changes nothings going to happen and we need God more than we need anything right now very well written article I can thank you
Blessed are You our LORD our GOD King of the Universe.
I pray that You will help all Your creation to love each other like You love us. We repent of all the wrong that is going on against each other.
Thank You so much for Your love and compassion. Grant our leaders and police officers wisdom. Please comfort George Floyd’s family.with Your Holy Spirit. Bring an end to all this riots. We need Your peace.
In Jesus precious Name
I see so many reasons for this revolt happening by our youth. I can’t say that it is because of the death of Mr. Floyd. When youth get rebellious they turn against any authority. What is going on, for many reasons, may have started because police represent authority. Parents, clergy, political leaders, teachers, etc.,have authority. They are supposed to be respected. The only racism I see is when someone who is black, is killed by someone who is white. The officer who caused Mr. Floyds death is white. Things would have not turned this bad if he were a black officer. If you couple this with the lockdown that has taken away some freedom from freedom loving people, by those in authority, then why should we expect anything else? Very restless and rebellious kids couldn’t wait to get out there and cause havoc. There are so many wrong messages that kids are getting, and yes pride in a lifestyle and one’s choice is just one of them. A pastor just said that these kids have no fear of God. Well, guess what? God is the highest authority!! They have a rebellious nature that hates authority. But they will have to deal with God and those given authority sooner or later. I pray that God intervenes in these coming days as we, his saints, are praying for revival.
I saw some mature adults among the looters and pillagers. It’s senseless because it does not bring justice to its cause, and isn’t it all supposed to be about justice? or is it cuased by something else? Was anger brewing long before its excuse to express itself?
THE AMAZING LOVE OF ALMIGHTY GOD…IS “COLOR BLIND”.
HE LOVES US ALL…WE ARE BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN HIS WONDERFUL “FAMILY”.
Question when white folks do bodily harm to blacks why is it ok in minds of some whites, u dont hear much about on the news mostly always sweep under the rug why is that?? How is trump doing such a great job, he disrespects his wife on a regular basis, his pride is bigger than him, grown men dont have tantrums because they cant have their way, his lips are loose no control. Are u looking through the same mirror as him u call a spade a spade not a heart, u should talk to God about this article u wrote & wait for Him to answer you. Search your heart & look at the pride that’s hiding!!!
PS Being BLACK in America doesn’t mean we should die at the hands of the police, race cards are pulled because a spade is a spade!!!
Dear Denise,I did not take it that the author was condoning the actions of the policeman, but saying that the real issue of racism is the heart. It was a terrible, inhuman act to do, but the rioting and looting has taken the focus off the tragedy of the man and his family. What we are seeing is lawlessness and what is grieving to my heart is the numbers of young people leading it. Jesus gave us the greatest example of love and forgiveness on the cross and only in repentance and forgiveness will we find our peace and rest. We need revival in the hearts of all and surrender to His hand of healing that we can truly love one another. God Bless
Denise, why aren’t you calling out all the black people killing black people? Why do you only focus on when a white officer kills a black person? I can see a racist attitude here because blacks killing blacks doesn’t play into using the race card. If you really care then focus on the reasons why that happens. Pray for God, not man, to give you the answers.
The first thing the President did was to say, “Charges should be filed; this was murder.” He immediately sent the FBI to investigate it. He is not a racist and is not the enemy. If we lose our freedoms, it will be because we cast our lot in with the enemies of freedom.
Father God: Thank you for our Judeo Christian United States, and for the experience
I want to share.
I am not Anglo Saxon. I migrated legally to the USA in 1964 from Nicaragua. I have never been discriminated. I have received friendship, love, and kindness from the people of this agreat nation. Racism is not rampant in America.
We are a Christian nation.
The terrible division we see today is the result of the seed of discord planted by the enemy within and without. Their purpose is to transform us into a sinful, decadent nation. They do not believe, Lord, that you exist and can stop them, like you did the building of the tower of Babel by Nimrod in Genesis 11.
I lift up our country, our president, his family and administration in prayer that no weapon formed against them prospers. And that you, Almighty Father, will hear our prayers and supplication and will heal our land. In jesus name.
I grew up in Tulsa, and I never heard of the Tulsa Race Massacre while I was in school. I began to hear about the burning of the Greenwood Area and the Black Wall Street. I worked as an RN in a large Tulsa Hospital in The Surgical Recovery Room. I took care of a very old African-American man. He was a survivor of the attack and shared his story with me. I felt disgusted about what had happened. I have not lived in Tulsa in the last 14 yrs. I am close to Tulsa. I don’t know when the attack was called The Tulsa Race Massacre. I take the Tulsa World, and volunteers have been searching for a mass gravesite. Nothing has been found yet. There is talk about changing the name of a downtown street which has a famous theater which is named for the street. People say the name of the street came from a caucasian man who participated in the riots. There have been arguments on social media. Change is hard. I have suggested service in Tulsa with a confession of sin on both sides and forgiveness. I pray that it will happen so the Heavenly Father can heal us.
Excellent article. I wish that everyone would read it.
Thank you for your GODLY sharing the TRUTH…
JESUS IS the Way, the TRUTH and the Life, No one comes to the FATHER but by HIM.
and Remember
JESUS Loves You!!!
I’m believe they are a terrorist among us that are paid to exploit and causes situations they don’t care what race you are or what color you are they hate America and its citizenship this country and its laws and constitution were created and inspired by God Almighty who created the heavens and the earth. They also hate God and believers in God. There is no other nation on earth that has so many ethnic groups and nationalities as the United States. People fight give up everything to come here many have died to protect our freedom in our armed forces of every race color and nation and nationality. We are not perfect and we can be healed of our division if we choose to honor Almighty God the father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and humble ourselves and repent he will heal our land thank you for this opportunity.
The evil the enemy displays is almost unbearable to handle sometimes, but GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN US THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD…Our fight is not won in flesh and blood or worry and who has greater concern…The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy, but GOD in HIS GREAT MERCY has all power over the enemy, in part, through His church…I pray that the Church, CHRIST’PEOPLE will rise up and be the salt and light of HIS MERCY, GRACE and LOVE and will send warriors into these communities to share HOPE and the message that GOD REIGNS and rules over these evil deeds. Send people now Lord to help rebuild these communities in magnificent majestic ways so that YOUR GOODNESS and GLORY are magnified and EXALTED far above the death and destruction the enemy had in mind…God, we are asking You to fill us up and by the power of Your Holy Spirit send us out to do good deeds and work in the mighty name of JESUS…no fear, just power, love and sound minds. Help the CHURCH stand up and fight with hammer, nails, building materials and the HOLY LOVE OF JESUS to help this community rebuild…do it today Lord, please for your Son’s sake begin today…send contractors, architects, leaders, church members anyone and everyone who is able and are willing to be the hands and feet of JESUS and begin today to bring LIGHT and HOPE, FORGIVENESS and PEACE, peace with YOU and peace with one another…please God we are asking, please they need you GOD, Help them in this way and use us to do so…in the name of the only worthy One-JESUS CHRIST, our Lord, Savior and King. Amen.
Thank you for words of wisdom and truth.
God, heal our hearts. Bring us to You on our knees in repentance for wrong attitudes in our hearts. Change our hearts to have a heart like You Jesus. Heal us Lord and we shall be healed.
Stop the violence and riots. Bring to justice those who are instigating the riots and destruction. Stop the lies. Bring all demonic spirits behind these hateful attitudes under Your control. I command those spirits to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. “At the name of JESUS EVERY knee shall bow.”
I worked as a professional journalist for nearly 23 years. Very good article. I’m white and I do feel there is still much racism in America. Personally, I’ve preached, done puppet ministry and Christian Creativity Seminars in churches, including some which have a predominantly black membership. I’ve always felt welcomed in these churches. I do believe the church universal needs to be about the preaching of the gospel and uplifting the name of Jesus, and we’ll never do a good job of that if racism continues to raise ugly head in the Church.
Like anything else, racism is a two-way street. We must all tone it down. There’s an invisible war that reveals itself in flesh and blood. If we draw near to God, we will resist the enemy, and he will flee from us, but if we think we’re standing, we’re about to fall.
Amen. God soften hardened hearts. We are all Americans. One God created us all. When we make You our focus, all else falls in line. We begin to see each other through the lens of Scripture, a lens that helps us to see past the color of the skin. It is beautiful how all my sisters and brothers in Christ in my church love each other, worship and fellowship with each other, and together eagerly await for Christ’s glorious appearing.
One of the most beautiful scriptures in the Bible is Revelations 7:9, “After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and people and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.’ “
Only Jesus can bring perfect reconciliation with the races He Himself created. And He will!
I pray for awakening, repentance, justice, and reconciliation. People are in pain, and justice has never been given. Racism is as much as a sin as abortion as it’s a heart issue of hatred, but the majority of the church is silent. We as a Body need to be as outspoken and deal with it like we do abortion, tyranny, and everything else. I’m a proud, Black Trump supporter, but as you said he is not the issue. It is time for the church, individually and collectively, to seek God to reveal the hidden things in our heart that we are not aware of. Racism is an issue in the church, and God is not pleased. White believers are just as responsible to cry out and end it, but the prevailing theme of most is to avoid, deny, minimize, and ignore. If we go to mechanics because one part of the car is damaged and in need, how much more should you care for a part of the Body, HUMANS whom Jesus died for, that have been crying out for your help? Many would be surprised with what the Holy Spirit exposes. We can’t repent if we’re unaware, nor avoid what makes us uncomfortable. For those unwilling to even ask God to show you yourself, your pride has blinded you. Humility asks questions and seeks to learn. Pride, ignorance, apathy, and hard heartedness refuse transparency and correction. Judgement starts in the house of the Lord. I pray for repentance for us all.
Thank you my sister in Christ for a powerful prayer. We continue to humble and circumcise our Hearts and ask for Healing Lord on this sad 😞 “state of mind” for those who are leading this massive riots around our states especially Minneapolis. Cease all riots Lord this very minute and let us all humble our hearts so we will once again do your greatest commandment. Lord your God with all your Hearts ♥️ and love your neighbor as yourself. Let our continued prayers be a testimony for your powerful hand at work. We love you Lord and give you All thePraise and Glory in your precious Name we Pray, Jesus Christ, Amen 🙏.
God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel I cry out to You. I thank You for I know You are bringing righteousness, truth and justice to our land once again. In the mighty Name of Jesus I bind the ugly murdering spirit of pride over our nation and cut off it’s head and command it to bow low to that Very Name above all names, Jesus Christ of Nazareth! I speak (Shalom) peace that passes all understanding all understanding that removes chaos, hatred and rioting and brings restoration, unity and the Third Great Awakening to our land, the likes the world has never seen before which sparks the fire of God throughout the world! Thank You for bringing our nation out of “slavery“ to pride and prejudice bringing us into our “promised land” – the Great Nation our brave President is leading us into! Thank You for bringing Truth, Righteousness, Justice, Mercy and Unity to our Great Nation. In Jesus Mighty Name I pray.
Father, I ask that this nation as a whole will fall to it’s knees in repentance for all of the sins we have committed against You and each other and beg for Your mercy. Father, I ask that the hatemongers will be exposed for what they are and what they are trying to do and that Your justice will be brought into this travesty.
Racism is evil, regardless of the color of a persons’s skin color, because unfortunately, there is prejudge and hate in every race not just one. Father, let Thy kingdom come Thy will be done in this nation as it is in heaven. Bring about Your justice upon this whole country. Open the spiritual eyes and hearts of Your people to be a barrier in the midst of the unrest, help Your people to bring calm and peace. Bring justice.
Father, I pray for George Floyd’s family and I ask that You will be with them and help them through this horrific time. This should have never, ever happened, bring justice and bring it swiftly for this family.
Father, where there are ones who are exploiting this horrible situation, let their evil plans fall back upon themselves regardless of what race they belong to. Make their voices mute at this time and only allow voices that will speak peace, wisdom and unity not division to be heard at this time. Silence the media that is swift to continue to stir up by the stories they are reporting.
Father, let Your love prevail and please out of this draw Your people closer to You and to one another.
In Jesus’ Name I pray Amen.
Carol, as we pray for the family of George Floyd, let’s also pray that a family member comes foward to the news media and pleads for the protests and riots to stop. It should have been done by now and we the public would welcome that.
Thank You Father God for sending revival and spiritual awakening. Thank You that revival begins with each one of us, our families, churches, cities, states, nations, and our world. Open our eyes and our ears to recognize the revival You are bringing. And, may we all embrace You. All for Your glory, honor, praises, and thanksgivings, and for our blessings. Then, the world will see the love of Jesus in us, and they will want what we have, a personal relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ. In Jesus Name, amen and amen!
2020 is the dawn of a new day/a new time. God is preparing us for what lies ahead. As the Israelites had to prepare themselves for the Promised Land, learn to be encouraged, purify themselves, obey God’s precepts and commandments, we need to prepare ourselves for what God has in store for us. We need to humble ourselves, look at each other as God does, at the heart, not the color of the skin, nationality or any other reason for division. We need to commune with Him. Begin each new day on our knees, see what He is doing and join Him. We need to look to Him, trust Him, believe and have faith that He is in control. He is the one who rules. We have no business trying to tell God how He should operate. We have to give up the desire for things of this world, die to self, take up our cross daily, Love the one, true, living, holy God. Be honest, love one another, be ready to go as He leads us, not hesitate. We need an attitude of gratitude. After all, not one of us is free from sin and the wages of sin is death. Hallelujah, Jesus paid the price of our sin for us and because of Jesus, God can welcome us to our Heavenly home. He also gave us the Holy Spirit to empower us, to make us bold, to go and tell the good news. He lives!
amen and amen!
Father God, I pray that all who do not know You will receive Jesus as their Personal Savior and Lord. You told us in your word that we would receive power from on high in the Person of the Holy Spirit. While I find this article to be informative, changed hearts can only be made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Man cannot change on their own. Your word is foolishness to those who do not believe. Father, I realize that there will be no real peace on this earth until Your Son, Jesus, The Prince of Peace returns. I thank You because You alone are God. I give You thanks for You alone are Holy, Sovereign, Just, and True. I thank You because You are the God of Truth. I thank You that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God The Father. PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW; PRAISE HIM ALL CRAETURES HERE BELOW. PRAISE HIM ABOVE YE HEAVENLY HOSTS. PRAISE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY GHOST!!! AMEN.
The spiritual warfare between now and the election will be very intense.
Saboteurs will exploit everything they can. We are wrestling with demonic forces whose mission is to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus gave us the keys of the kingdom. In the name of Jesus, we bind the rage, rioting, violence, disorder and demonic activity behind this. We loose the Holy Spirit with conviction and repentance. In the name above all names we bind the devil’s schemes and release Your peace that passes all understanding. Father, we beseech Thee to turn what the enemy means for evil into a display of Your miraculous power. We pray for the Holy Spirit to fall on our land like rain. Father God, may we be ever on the alert to intercede & see what is truly behind these demonic attacks. O God, have mercy on this land. Only in Christ can we be redeemed. We cry out to You for Your help. When the enemy comes in like a flood, You raise up a standard against him. Let it be done according to Your will, for the sake of Your glory. We ask that You give President Trump divine wisdom as You did for Solomon when 2 women claimed one baby. Our eyes are set on You Alone. May Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Glory to God!
I would only question one thing. Are there people in this world of any color who do not love themselves? Maybe. But I think the numbers are few. I think the issue is that most of us put ourselves and what we want and what we think and what we need above the Lord and all He has called us to do. When God regenerates us and begins the work of sanctification then we can love Him above ourselves. Until then, we are centered in self, focused on self. And that elevates our thinking and feeling above Him and others. And that makes us ripe for any deception as Satan can use our elevated thinking and feeling to break God’s heart and destroy our fellow human beings. Even suicide often is an elevation of self. The person puts himself / herself above Christ and all His will; and puts himself and his pain or anger above everyone else who might be impacted. Just my two cents…
There’s a time for defensive prayer (asking the Lord to step in) and there’s also a time for offensive prayer (taking up the authority He has given you to wage spiritual warfare), and this is a time to wage war on the evil one and his host.
Look at what is happening – events like this, riots and lawlessness across the nation. We must decree and declare that the strongholds of unrighteousness are destroyed.
The enemy is losing! Look at the way he’s kicking and fighting, drawing up these events to discourge the church and excite the wicked. Now is the time to fight back and boldly take up the armor of God. Pray without ceasing! Bind the foul spirits at work! Make holy, authority-filled declarations!
We have been given the authority to trample upon snakes, scorpions, and ALL power of the evil one. While we pray for God’s peace and love to cover this nation, we must also declare that the devices of the evil one will not prevail. We must bind the spirit of lawlessness and unrest.
The victory was won by our Lord that day on the cross, and all we must do is stand in it. Who the Son has set free is free indeed. Stand in that freedom. Wear it upon you like a garment. Carry it with you wherver you go.
While we hold tight to the shield of faith (to quench the flaming arrows of the evil one) in defense, we must boldly take up the sword of the spirit to make offensive, righteous attack on the evil at work.
We’re right there with you Elle in the trenches! We who know who and Whose we are! We lift our battle cry “Tetelestai” that Jesus shouted from the cross!
The officer and George worked at the same club as security. The video of the event has another video surfacing of the same event. The scene is different. I question whether he is really dead. I question everything as we are seeing the breakdown of truth worldwide and the real players come to the surface. Wide awake here. Looking for truth. We of many colors are praying for peace and answers.
Tracy, that other video that shows a different scene, I would like to see it. The thought that he really isn’t dead occurred to me also.
Overt racism is not accepted by most christians. Unfortunately, Covert racism is acceptable By too many christians.
I am heartbroken like everybody else, I’m in agreement with your prayers. Thank you so much showing us the biblical reason behind these riots. Thank you for all you do.
The bottom line and reason for all of the injustice that we see everyday in our world is found in the Scripture reference of Mark 12:30-31; first everyone must love God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and when we are settled into that arena, then we can love our neighbor-everyone else in our world-as we love ourselves. Anyone who loves himself in a balanced-Biblical-fashion as recorded in James 3:16, “For where envy and self seeking exist, confusion and every kind of evil thing are there,” then, and only then will this nation have peace. On earth the only entity that can bring this to pass is God and that will always happen when we the people fulfill 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my my people who are called by My Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and heal their land.” O God our Father and Creator, we are in desperate need for You to come into our realm and bring peace to us; do this I pray regardless of the cost, in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen!
I had never heard of this historic riot/massacre! Thank you for sharing this and for the very insightful thoughts and commentary!
Thank you for pointing us to the 2nd greatest commandment. Jews and Samaritans had difficulty with it, and we do also. I pray these events may compel us all to actually go seek the neighbor we don’t know and find how to love him/her–especially the ones that are most separated from us.
Excellent article! I agree that what happened to Floyd should never have happened and the onlookers should have done more than just stand there. Thankfully the other officers were fired as well. This one bad cop has done so much to dismantle all the good Trump has done for minorities- creating more jobs for minorities than any other President and releasing minorities from prison who have been appealing for years (some for decades). This was certainly an act of the devil trying to divide our country. The heart of that police officer was evil. This officer had similar actions in the past and was not let go. Democrat Klobucher was informed of complaints against him previously and did nothing to stop his actions. She should also be held accountable for allowing this man to remain employed.
1 Peter 5:8 …He (the devil) prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
We must pray for God to bind Satan! He seeks to divide, disrupt and destroy our nation. We surely see him at work in these fires!
Thank you for writing this excellent article packed with truth and reality. We must pray for righteous leaders to be raised up to lead our nation. Much of this issue has to due with the lack of righteous and just leadership.
Thank you!!!!!!
You heavens above, rain down righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness grow with it; I, the Lord, have created it. -Isaiah 45:8
It is so difficult for the majority of white America to relate to the black experience. We discern and see things so different that other cultures. There are so many injustices that have originated from our leaders who don’t think they give place to racism and inequality. God help us to deal with truth and reality.
Thank you for this truth. Jesu change the heart of us all.
Amen
Blessings and Amen.
So be it..Lord Jesus.Amen
Father we pray for our nation and your people who are surely made in your image no matter color of skin. It is your desire we live in unity and your unconditional love. We pray George Floyd’s family and loved ones. That you would heal their broken hearts and help them through their grief. Please Lord you are a God of justice. You know every detail of what happened and why. Bring justice to this nation and to all those who loved him as family and friend. Amen
Thank you for this article!!!
Thank you for this excellent and well explained depth of racism in the hearts of man. God has a plan and I pray tjat America will listen.
Father God We Pray For A Spirit Of Godly Unity… May We Truly Love Our Neighbors As You Have Loved Us!!! Forgive Us and Heal Our Nation With Actions That Heal… Crush The Evil Spirits That Cause Hatred For One Another!!! In Jesus Holy Name, Amen!!!
This is an excellent article, I completely agree and we need to continue to bring this before God for only He is able to reach our hearts in the way that is needed.
Christians, get you facts correct, discern truth, and not by your fleshly nature, but by the Spirit of Truth. Karen Harden, if you’re going to write this message, you yourself need to get the facts in order, especially as you are writing on behalf of the Lord. The medical examiner’s autopsy has revealed the man died of a heart condition complicated by intoxicants in his body! Now, I am most opposed to racism (from both sides!) and I am confident that God is too. However, the resulting violence is clear cut wickedness, disorder by Godless people acting out in felony crimes, destroying $ millions in property and threatening law abiding Americans. Lord, I pray earnestly, according to Your purpose and will, binding up, canceling all this wickedness by godless people, ordering them back through the gates of Hell, until their due time, which they will be cast into the everlasting lake of fire, in the most powerful name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen
Thank you for sharing these much needed prayers. I agree that the heart attitude is the immediate cause of these very unfortunate injustice which results in loss of lives and properties. I believe the spirit behind this is the root cause which must be identified and dealt with. The monster Leviathan seems to be having a field day in the nation at this time manifesting in division racially, politically, socially, economically and more. We ask God for help to have the head of this monster cut off so that hearts may be set free from the bondage of prejudice, pride, selfishness, wickedness, bloodletting and greed. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord, thank you for Karen’s discernment about the rioting and divisions that when we don’t love ourselves, we don’t know how to love our neighbors. Not long after I received salvation, I studied the 13th chapter of I Corinthians and made a commitment to be a more loving person. The next day I offered to baby sit for a friend so she could shop. The children made a huge mess, my friend was late getting back, my husband was disgusted when he came home for lunch and found the house in total disarray with only a plain cold sandwich to eat. I displayed the exact opposite of the kind of love Paul described. I managed to be rude, unkind, without patience and void if everything love should be that day. The verse that literally changed my life after this episode was Philippians 4:19, “We love, because He first love us”. Through tears, I accepted His love for me by faith although I didn’t feel worthy of it. A few days later my friend and her children came by to visit and my husband came home for lunch. It was easy to be kind and loving that day. I realized the difference was that God had enabled me to love myself and others, because He had first loved me. All I had to do was accept His love. It is indeed a heart issue, not just a resolution to be a better person.
What a thread that has been woven into our country’s history. May we pull this offending stitch and indeed be “one nation under God.” Thank you, Karen, for writing the words and allowing me to pray the prayer alongside you. Amen.
I did not know about the Tulsa Race Massacre that happened in Tulsa’s Greenwood District back in May 31-June 1 2021. According to the article written above, it was dubbed “Black Wall Street”. We are supposed to love our neighbors as ourselves according to the Bible. First we love God with our whole hearts. What is happening in our time again in Minnesota 2020. We have to wait and see what really happened in Minnesota and it is not our judgment call to retaliate when we find out the answer. I pray that we find out the whole truth in what is behind the race wars that are happening today in our time.
Father God, Most Holy One, our Creator, our God we come before You acknowledging the sins of our nation and what is spread around the world. Father, You look at our heart, we all bleed red and the only thing that separates us is our eternal destination. May we repent of our pride, selfishness and unbelief. The sense of ‘pride’ that comes in worshipping ourselves or a group we identify with, is nothing but lies from the enemy and although it is on a leash which you Sovereighnly allow it roams this earth searching souls of which to destroy. May we guard ourselves by armoring in the full Armor of God, and by following Your commands including not bearing false witness. Father it is the lying tongue of the media that fans the evil today, and we pray that it become no more than a clanging going to any untruths being told. From the scream following a trip, to a past rival turned to murder lies are turned to racism and along with every other labeled -ism it is evil and from Your enemies. Lord have mercy on our nation, may we each humble ourselves and come before You and may You be glorified. We pray for those in the pulpits of the nation to expositionally teach Your Word, and You prepare us with ears to hear from You in the mighty name of Jesus we ask Your hand of mercy. Amen
The problem as I see it is behavior. Whether white or black, kids need to understand behavior accepatable in the main stream. We have always had those who are just rebels and do not want to conform to any standards of behavior that include obeying the 10 commandments. If a young person shows up for a job they must be prepared to adjust to the behavioral norms of society and not of the radical promoted by media to the contrary. Dress and behavior once in the workforce matter. So the problem will continue, despite any contention that it is a black white issue, and behavior is at its core. Bringing Christ into the home is critical for all. Going to church is critical to all families. Religion must be a part of all families. We must accept that God’s laws supercede any law made by man; man is flawed, God is not. Period.
Did not our Father tell us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:11-13). Our enemy is satan, not one another. The evil one wants all of us dead and the only way he can accomplish his mission is to have us kill off one another. I pray for us in the Body of Christ to come together as one all over this nation, and to walk out; live out 2 Chronicles 7:14. Then pray according to Ephesians 6:10-20. We have authority through the Blood of Jesus to cast
satan and his demon forces of darkness out of our nation. Father in the Name of Jesus, please send revival into the United States of America!

I just watched both videos of George Floyd’s death. The most distressing thing to me was not the surface racism, but the PASSIVITY OF THE OTHER POLICEMEN who should have been actively pushing Chauvin off of George Floyd. All four are guilty in this heinous event. The PASSIVE COMPLIANCE is most distressing element, because it can be a characteristic of much of our nation: afraid to act, afraid to intervene when something evil is happening, content because of fear(?) to let it pass,to not challenge. What was the matter with the other policemen???? Is that same passivity part of us??? OR were the other policemen not motivated by fear, but by actual agreement with the victimization of a person in a weaker position. That same attitude allows the abuse of children, abuse and exploitation of employees, etc… We need to look at ourselves about this, not just the surface racism of a few policemen
Yes, they either were agreeing with him or looking the other way or afraid to speak up. May we learn the lesson that when evil happens, it flourishes because good men do nothing.
FATHER, only YOU can bring peace to this diabolical situation where all the riots are taking place. We rely on YOU! For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of darkness. Send YOUR ARMY ANGELS TO WAGE WAR against these evil forces. Whatever we bind on earth is bound in Heaven. IN YESHUAS NAME AND BY THE POWER OF HIS BLOOD.🙏🏼✝️🇺🇸😢
I pray Tour Kingdom come and Your will be done on earth that is in Heaven in our hearts today and that our yes would be yes and our no would be no in
Jesus name, amen
Lord please help this nation get over racism. Help us to live as Americans with a common bond. Help us to live as brothers and sisters neighbors and friends, coworkers and family. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
I must say this article is an excellent one….It addresses some basic foundational issues …but there are so many missing pieces that needs to be addressed….Its not only White Pastors repenting to Black Pastors…its sitting and addressing all..i.say all the wounds of the past….all of them..what it had done generationally…making reparations and bringing real human and spiritual justice to the entire matter
.May God help us….The scales are imbalanced..And i know.i am a Jamaican who knows..i have forgiven but we seriously need more than prayer s…action justice and deep introspection.Shalom
Thank you for this heartfelt and eye opening story. Especially the scripture that says we must love the Lord with all our heart ! I have been grieving over this evil that was done. It has damaged so much that we have been trying to heal over the years. Not just with racism but with the view of our policeman and those who work hard to protect our nation. God have mercy on us and may we love You with all our heart soul mind and strength and may we always look to the cross where evil was dealt with justice was accomplished and love and forgiveness were and are victorious ❤️
