Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg says that posts and pages attempting to organize protests against stay-at-home orders will be banned as “misinformation.”

The Facebook CEO confirmed that the posts would be banned to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on a segment of Good Morning America.

What do you think of Facebook calling social distancing protests misinformation?

Stephanopoulos asked Zuckerberg how the company deals “with the fact that Facebook is now being used to organize a lot of these protests to defy social distancing guidelines in states. If somebody trying to organize something like that, does that qualify as harmful misinformation?”

“We do classify that as harmful misinformation and we take that down,” confirmed Zuckerberg, while at the same time saying that it’s important “that people can debate policies.”. . .

This comes after President Trump gave his support to protesters in several states who are demonstrating against their governors’ stay-at-home orders, including a 3,000-strong protest in Lansing, Michigan. Michigan protesters have used Facebook to organize.

On Twitter, the President called on protesters to “liberate” the states of Michigan, Minnesota, and Virginia, also calling on Virginian citizens to “save your great 2nd amendment. It is under siege!”

At Friday’s White House coronavirus press conference, Trump lent more support to the protesters.

“These are people expressing their views,” said the president. “They seem to be very responsible people to me, but they’ve been treated a little bit rough.”

Protests and demonstrations, like other forms of lawful speech, are constitutionally protected. The First Amendment of the United States, in addition to protecting freedom of expression and religion, also specifically protects “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.”

Father- Our very way of life is under attack. We look to you to be our defender. Please give us wisdom to find a way to connect and organize when it is necessary to speak and be heard. Help us as we seek to defend our rights as citizens in a time when people are using a situation to control things that are our constitutional rights. The government is required to allow us to protest rightly. But the platforms we are using are privately owned and they are censoring our views. Help us to find ways to accomplish what needs to happen. Help us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Help us to use the means that are open to us to stand for our rights while at the same time help us to be wise and do so with carefulness.

Heavenly father I pray for the salvation of Mark Zuckerburg. Please remove the Vail from his eyes and open his heart that he would be willing to listen to your voice and find the truth. I ask that you send your people to him to speak life to him. In Jesus name I pray.

This is not misinformation. Facebook wants to control the narrative prior to elections so they can deceive people and block the truth. Try other sources like ‘Parler’. It’s time to get alternatives so some truth can get out. If not now….when?

Warning to All-

Several of the major food suppliers, Conagra, Tyson and others, are reporting cases in their factories.

Certain food shortages could start happening next month.

Yes and Amen. We need our constitutional rights of free speech to prevail or we will not continue to be the country we have been. Freedom of speech is not one voice but all voices…even if we may not agree with what is being said. Lord may we be an influence to those that are against your Word.

Canada has banned hate speech and they still have freedom of speech.

        Sharon,

I’ll post the actual law concerning this later today. Your example is a false dichotomy based on the idea that Christians are being denied freedom of religion, which isn’t true.

In Canada, religion doesn’t play much of a role in reproductive rights, it’s strictly medical, and the laws verify this.

          To Sharon,

You asked my opinion, I read your link then posted a rebuttal. What I gave you was my interpretation of what happened. In essence, what happened was discriminatory because it was forcing adherence to a religious belief from a Government standpoint.

          Here’s the Canada Abortion wiki

          https://health.findlaw.ca/article/abortion-access-and-rights-1/

Abortion is fully funded by Medicaid in Canada, again, it’s not considered a religious issue, it’s a medical issue. There are no restrictions either.

Mr. Zukerberg has already faced a Senate inquiry for practices concernig security and privacy.
FB staff sent me a heads up about saying you “like” something or if you post a “comment”. Once you post a comment it can be changed and no one knows that isn’t your original statement. FB knows this and they don’t assume any responsibility for changes.
I was a census taker for one season and I met people who were hostile about giving the government information but they don’t think about posting their life history on FB.
Mark Zukerberg can already map the world by accumulated information. How do we now requite that into moral ethical responsibility?

It is a right of all people in the US to be allowed to protest peacefully. All opposing opinions have a right to be expressed. Erasing free speech from public access is done in fear that others just may choose to believe the same way.

Lord God I pray that You would heal the spirit of fear in those that are listening to the wrong voices. Yes this is serious times, but we are not to be in fear. Respectful gatherings will need to come forth to get our country back to what it once was with still some social distancing. Lord help us to be wise in our coming together again as a nation. Psalm 91 let us look to your word in times of need and protection. God I’d faithful. He will deliver us from this plague. His word says so and I will forever put my trust in His Words. Not mans word. Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a mans heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that will prevail. My trust is in you Lord Jesus. Amen.

Do you not understand this virus is asymptomatic and highly contagious for TWO WEEKS before getting sick?

It’s not a free speech/right to assembly, it’s a matter of saving lives.

Margaret. In this case, FB is doing the right thing. That was the point I was trying to make. These protesters are going to effectively going to get killed. And it causes those who are trying to follow the rules to be stuck that much longer. I pray you don’t have someone at home thats elderly or health compromised. This is also starting to kill children. These gd trump jumpers, my governor included, literally ignore every single piece of evidence about how dangerous this really is. They ignore the numbers directly in front of them and because they are not testing to any real extent, have no farkin clue how much of the population is actually infected.

Respectfully, I’m not certain where you are getting your information on the virus. But current data reported by researchers at University of Southern Cal, Stanford and New York say that while the virus is very contagious the fatality/death rate is only about 0.12% to 0.2% – nearly the same as that of the seasonal flu. Similar data has emerged from Germany, Sweden and South Korea, which was able to provide the most rigorous testing of its population. In other words, while there have been thousands of people in this country who have unfortunately died due to the virus, the majority of those who have contracted it have survived. That is indeed good news and is what we as people of faith should be focused on.

Donna, math doesn’t lie, if the numbers are correct going in.

          New York-

          142,432 Confirmed cases

          Deaths
          10,977

          7.7%

Total US confirmed cases to date at this posting

          843,186

          Total Deaths 47,139

          Percentage 5.6%

Notice the percentages are within range of each other for both US and New York.

Multiple sources verify the total number of cases and the number dead for the entire US at the time of this posting (4-22)

Another anomaly is the number of health care workers that have contracted it and died.

You can calculate for yourself here

It’s clear you feel very passionately about this issue. I urge you, however, to at least look into and consider the research that was recently released (within the past week) by USC and Stanford University concerning the total number of infected versus the number of reported deaths and why the numbers being reported by the news and through sites like the one you reference do not present the whole story.

Further, the article asks the question is FB right for censoring protestors or protest planners. My answer to the question is “No.”

While there are those who might presume that the protestors are either ignoring the risks of the virus or not fully aware of the stated risks, I presume that these protestors are aware, yet have simply decided that there is something they value above safety and that is freedom. And whether or not one agrees with the stance taken by these current protestors, they are choosing to exercise their constitutional right to protest against laws or executive orders they deem unjust or arbitrary or an infringement on their liberties. In that they have much in common with individuals throughout our history who have chosen likewise and protested against what they considered unfair or unjust laws. And that, I believe, is something that no government or corporation should be permitted to interfere with. The moment we allow such interference to occur unquestioned is the moment we move from a free society into a totalitarian one.

Critics called out what they saw as significant problems with, or at least big questions about, how the scientists had arrived at them. Chief among their concerns was the accuracy of the test underpinning both studies, and whether the scientists had fully accounted for the number of false positives it might generate.

          This was posted yesterday.

And I pose this question to you, do have compromised or elderly parents living at home? Are YOU willing to sacrifice them when your asymptomatic 7 year old carries it home from school? Because the elderly are one of the most susceptible populations.

          Justify your answer.

As for the totalitarian comment, the biggest danger to American Democracy is Trump, McConell, the GoP and Fox News.

Case in point-You realize that Trump has ordered government officials to confiscate PPE and ventilators from states that have paid for them, and put them in the national stockpile? He is then forcing the states to bid against each other Thunderdome style. He tells the Governors they are on their own, yet tries to incite
riots on the states he doesn’t like, and criticized Maryland when they went directly to South Korea for testing kits. A problem he created. This is all verifiable.

The Governors that put the restrictions in good faith, will restore those freedoms when this is over. Trump is trying to force those state’s hand, and punishing them if they criticize him.
