I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we ask You to protect our rights and make us wise and savvy about the legislation proposed in Congress and in our states.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

While the President and most of us are looking for solutions to keep our families safe and reopen our businesses and the economy, the House Democrats have been working behind the scenes to pass gun legislation that infringes 2nd amendment rights.

Bill HR 5717 was introduced by Rep. Henry Johnson (D-GA) and co-sponsored by 18 other representatives on January 31. Not surprisingly, all sponsors are Democrats.

According to the Firearms Policy Coalition,“HR 5717 is the worst anti-gun legislation that FPC has ever seen. It could end gun rights in totality within a generation.”

HR 5717 would:

  • Create a nationwide gun registry
  • Ban almost all semiautomatic rifles
  • Institute a federal magazine ban
  • Implement national “Red Flag” gun confiscation
  • Tax guns at 30% and ammunition at 50%
  • Ration guns by making it illegal to purchase more than one firearm in a 30-day period
  • Force “Safe Storage” requirements on gun owners
  • Expand “Gun Free Zones”
  • And more

HR 5717 is extensive, sweeping, and overreaching. We need to be alert because some lawmakers see the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantines as an opportunity to act when citizens are distracted.

Did you know that the best way to express your opinions to your lawmakers is a phone call? It’s easy to contact your representative in Congress. Call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3131 and the operator will direct your call.

Lord, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We pray that our rights and civil liberties will not be stolen during this pandemic, including our 2nd Amendment rights. Lord, we ask that any and all legislation that Congress tries to pass secretly will come to light and any bills that are detrimental to our rights and economy will be struck down and unable to advance. We ask for your intervention in Jesus’ name. Amen.

I grew up with the reality that people went hunting so there would be meat on the table through the winter. This legislation suggests those who wrote it neither know or care about the difference between military grade or domestic weapons.
In this circus it’s ” what the heck, just throw the baby out with the bathwater. None will notice or care.”

Really? Maybe a strong wind is blowing through the mulberry trees.

Lord God, thank you for our founder fathers and their understanding that power corrupts and that the last stand against a corrupt government is our personal guns. I ask your protection on this right, especially sense you are answering prayers and letting us see just how corrupt our government is. May we give you our fears in regards to shootings and pray your protection around us and our families. There is not guarantee except with You. There is no control except you being sovereign over all. Help us to be weaned from dependency on our government and place all our dependency on you.. Praise you Lord. In Jesus name, Amen

I believe in the second amendment and I would like to keep my rights as an American. If you do not that is your choice but please go to another country and enjoy their way of life. You may just learn how fortunate we are in this country.

Father God, I pray in the mighty name of Jesus that the US government will not infringe on our right to bear arms so that we can protect ourselves and our families from those who would try to harm us. Father God, we need your help once again, especially since In our area the society has become so unstable, and quick tempered. Let us not forget that the prisoners have been released from the local jails because of the virus. Father, we ask You to restore our constitutional right to bear arms so we can be safe in an unsafe society. Thank you Lord!

THE ATTITUDE OF THE LEFT IS REALLY SAD. THE GREAT APOSTASY IN 2 THESSALONIANS AND VERSE 2:11 SAYS IT ALL.
NOTE; …….THE PANIC IN FRONT OF GUN STORES DURING THIS PANDEMIC SAYS A GREAT DEAL TOO. WE FEAR OUR OWN GOVERNMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT BECAUSE WE ARE SMART AND SEE THE CORRUPTION AND KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THEIR GAME. WE MUST NOT LOOSE THIS ONE!!!!! GOD WILLING WE WIN!

If a nationwide gun registry would help Police Officers track down those who use guns to break the law, then I think that is a good thing.
We have a driving licence;
We have a marriage licence;
Restaurants need a licence to sell beer;
In my town we have to register our pet.
Why not have a national licence for gun owners? Why not?

The list of those items that require licences are “privileges” & are not even mentioned in the US Constitution. The 2nd Amendment is a “Right” & is a part of the US Constitution.

Sadly, you are misinformed when when speaking of how much gun registration will help law enforcement. The proposed bill will Not help, in anyway. Further, more is included in this bill than mentioned above. May I urge you to become more informed – and from other sources that are Not funded or backed by Bloomberg or Sorous.
Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water.

I am informed about the right to bear arms.
When the Constitution was written this was a whole different country with very different values–principally people valued life!
      That is no long true!

That being said. Do you really think a criminal will license his gun? Hmmm.

Proof of one’s ability to drive is required for anybody requesting a driving licence–and, of course, there are always those who don’t comply but that doesn’t mean we do away with the driving test!

Checking a person’s background, and then instructing people in the proper use of a deadly weapon should be mandatory–It is irresponsible to do otherwise.

Before WW2, Germany made all the people register their guns. They even got the ministers and priests to tell there congregations to register there guns. And they obeyed. After this, the government knew who had what. The government then went in to the peoples homes and confiscated all the guns.In this way, Hitler knew the people could not be able to revolt when he took extreme power.
It would be terribly naive to think that one day the democrats in this nation wouldn’t do likewise.

      April 16, 2020

Well if that is what happened in Germany (and I don’t have any first hand information about that particular happening) but if that is what happened then I understand your reasoning opposing gun registration. However, if there are laws governing the sale of tobacco products and beer to minors, then there should be some law governing the purchase of weapons.

Hi Mari. The point here is that guns do not kill people. A gun does not walk up to people, a school yard, a bank and begin firing….PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE! I used to be a liberal, note, used to be, and was shocked when a good friend explained this concept to me. Maybe this will help you understand.

      April 16, 2020

      Myra, I understand perfectly!
Background checks would help prevent guns getting into the wrong hands, as would setting a minimum age limit for somebody to own a gun and would require a prospective buyer to receive training in the use of fire arms and their danger!
I am nearly 80 years old and far from being liberal! I do believe we should help in any way we can to prevent wholesale slaughter of innocent little children in schools, and innocent people attending a movie or a concert or out for a dinner in the evening. When the Constitution was written it was a very different America–I am convinced that when the right to bear arms was written, it did not mean the right for a young kid, or mentally disadvantaged person to get a gun and shoot up a school! I hope this helps you understand my point of view which is shared by many parents..

It is obvious that you don’t understand the intent/purpose of the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution. Times are different now than when the Constitution was written, however, there is no place in the Constitution that says it should be reviewed (read timeline) or updated from time to time. Thankfully the US Constitution stands today as it always has – unchanged!

If the 2nd Amendment is reviewed, altered or deleted, then so should the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. etc.

Allow me to try to explain it this way. The purpose of the 2nd Amendment is simply to keep the government – as the British government was doing to the colonies – from being put into a position that brings its subjects into submission by the use of armed confrontation. Thus, the 2nd Amendment was included so that the government would not have armed power over the citizens under their authority.
The government should “fear” the citizens. Not the other way around where the people
        “fear” the government.

We have 4 generations of LEO’s (Law Enforcement Officers) in our family. None of us wants criminals to have or gain an advantage over law abiding citizens. Universal Background Checks ALREADY exist & are Federally controlled. Unfortunately, this is not where most criminals obtain their guns. Curtailing the “Right” of honest gun owners so that those who think like you do, “feel” safer will not reduce crime.

As someone already posted. It is NOT guns that kill. It is demented people. Do you know that more people are killed every year in auto accidents, or by stabbings, or by bikes, or by swimming pools, etc. etc. than by guns?

Let me ask you, how did Cain kill Abel? Guns should not be blamed. Demented people should be.

Sadly, most liberals, progressives, & Democrats (there I said it) would be very proud of the way you think. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that doesn’t make it right.
As I suggested in an earlier post, become educated, know what you are speaking of, & then post a comment based on facts, Not feelings.

BTW, how old you are means nothing. Unfortunately, in many cases it simply means someone has formulated an opinion – rightly or wrongly – an have clung to it in spite of reason.

“A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.” You have gone to long lengths to explain your point of view, so obviously you really believe that yours is the correct one.

The Bible tells you to stand in the presence of grey hairs–that means to respect the opinions and view of aged people as they just might know a thing or two.

When the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution they were framing rules for a GOD-fearing people–Unfortunately, many don’t honor the Ten Commandments these days, one of which includes, “Thou shalt not kill.”

One’s opinion can change, especially when one knows somebody who lost their lives because of a gun.

        Myra
        April 17, 2020

Hi Mari. Let me frame this even differently. The point that Graystone is making is true. There are more people killed by non firearm reasons. He is correct. The FACTS do speak for themselves. AND no one is twisting your arm to change your opinion. THAT would be a violation of YOUR OWN RIGHTS. You don’t wish to have YOUR rights as a citizen limited, do you you? You are entitled to your opinion. One of the things I had to look up for clarity purposes was the difference between a “right” and a “privilege”. I would highly suggest that you do the same. Getting a driver license is a privilege. Owning a gun is an inherent CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT AS STATED IN THE CONSTITUTION UNDER THE SECOND AMENDMENT. Just like your opinion is your right to free speech, so is owning a gun, it is a RIGHT. Why would you want to limit someone else’s right, when you don’t want your own rights limited?

My dear, frame it any way you want! But there is no need to be so vociferous! Or as my younger friends would say: “Calm your jets!”

I have stated my case. GOD is my Judge. And I leave the matter in HIS big strong, capable hands.

Honor GOD and His Word and honor mankind. In summary, I believe that the GOD-fearing Founding Fathers intended guns to be used for protection and certainly never for the annihilation of fellow Americans. Rules need sometimes to be amended. Enough said.
