I Prayed have prayed
Father, we pray for America as it reels from the results of this election. Give all incoming leaders wisdom and fear for the Lord. We pray for Your will to be done in America.

Democrats swept to control of both chambers of Congress on Tuesday night, flipping Republican Senate seats from Maine to Texas in a string of upsets few expected.

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

From Just the News:

The Democrats decidedly won the Senate on Tuesday evening, sweeping competitive contests and pulling off a string of upsets in formerly solid Republican bastions as they marched toward realigning the power structure in Washington by taking full control of Congress.

As of press time, the Associated Press projects the party to claim at least 53 seats in the upper chamber. The wire service early Wednesday declared Democrats won the House.

…

Those wins included flips in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Maine and Texas, while a Democratic incumbent held his ground in Georgia. The Democratic Party’s wins in those states seem to suggest major cracks in the formerly solid Republican South.

Some of the night’s biggest shocks came in states Republicans had long counted as safe. In Kansas, Democrat Adam Hamilton unseated Sen. Roger Marshall. In Iowa, Josh Turek defeated Rep. Ashley Hinson. In Texas, James Talarico beat state Attorney General Ken Paxton, and in South Carolina, Annie Andrews defeated Sen. Darline Graham, who was appointed to complete the term of her late brother, Sen. Lindsey Graham. Former Sen. Sherrod Brown reclaimed a seat in Ohio by ousting Sen. Jon Husted, and in Maine, Troy Jackson ended Sen. Susan Collins’ bid for a sixth term. Republicans did hold Kentucky, where Rep. Andy Barr won the seat of retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell, along with Florida, Wyoming, West Virginia and Oklahoma.

The count has moved since Just the News’ report went to press. Democrat Abdul El-Sayed defeated Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan, becoming the first Muslim U.S. senator. That race drew national attention in its final days when Rep. Haley Stevens, who lost the Democratic primary to El-Sayed, crossed party lines to endorse Rogers. As of Wednesday morning, ABC News showed Democrats with 54 seats to Republicans’ 44, a net gain of seven, while the Alaska and Mississippi races remained uncalled.

When the new Congress convenes in January, Democrats will control both the House and Senate, setting up divided government for the final two years of President Trump’s term. Judicial confirmations, spending fights, and the administration’s legislative priorities will all now run through Democratic majorities.

As IFA President and CEO David Kubal wrote on Election Day, this election was soaked in prayer. The results don’t change that, and they don’t change who is on the throne. “He removes kings and raises up kings” (Daniel 2:21). Let’s pray for President Trump as he prepares to govern alongside a Democratic Congress, that God would give him wisdom and resolve. Let’s pray for Republican leaders as they move into the minority, that they would hold the line on life, religious liberty, and border security. Let’s pray for every newly elected senator and representative, that they would fear the Lord, and that any effort to expand abortion or attack biblical truth would fail. Let’s pray that the counts in Alaska and Mississippi would be accurate and transparent. And let’s pray that the Church would not lose heart, but press in for revival that no election can deliver.

Father we thank you that your eyes are always on us! Continue to save us. Uncover any and all fraudulent schemes, and bring forth justice. As we celebrate you, please reveal to your prophets the vision you have for us.

It’s like I texted to my adult children this morning – I’m disappointed, but I am even more focused on Proverbs 3:5,6. My trust is in God, not man.
