Houthis Reportedly Building Longer-Range Missiles With Chinese Parts
The Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen is reportedly building a more dangerous missile, and the parts are coming from China. If that holds up, it would mean a terror group that has attacked Saudi Arabia, Israel, and commercial shipping now has a supplier outside Tehran, with a weapon that could reach farther than anything it has fielded.
The report comes days after the Houthis struck Riyadh’s main airport, killing a number of civilians, including an American. It raises hard questions about who is arming the group and what Washington does next.

From the Daily Wire:
Iran-backed Houthis terrorists are building advanced ballistic missiles with Chinese-made parts, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.
The new components from China would help the Houthis make their own version of the Iranian Kheibar Shekan precision-guided missile, according to the Journal, which cited an unpublished report from the Conflict Armament Research. The Houthi version of the missile would have an extended range of 1,200 miles compared to the estimated 900-mile range of the Iranian version.
The extended range would place several American allies, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel in range of their strikes. The 1,200-mile range would also allow the Houthis to strike ships in Egypt’s Suez Canal, one of the most heavily trafficked and important shipping lanes in the world.
The Journal’s reporting rests on an unpublished report from Conflict Armament Research, a group that tracks weapons seized in conflict zones. Neither the report nor the underlying evidence has been made public, and the source article does not include a response from Beijing or the Houthis. How the Chinese components reached the group is unclear. Depending on the route, the article notes, the finding could point to a Houthi force that is increasingly independent of Iran.
The article says Chinese companies are now the largest supplier of seized goods bound for the Houthis. A risk adviser told the Journal the group has built domestic manufacturing, diversified its supply chains, and developed ties to regional smugglers and international procurement networks. Earlier reporting found the Houthis, al-Qaeda, and the Yemeni branch of ISIS also use Russian and Chinese anti-tank weapons, shoulder-fired air defense systems, and anti-material rifles. A 2025 Conflict Armament Research report said investigators found evidence the Houthis may be trying to power unmanned systems with hydrogen, which would be a first for a non-state armed group if confirmed.
The Houthis have promised a “painful response” if the United States joins the fighting, and the Saudi government is reportedly pressing Washington to do so. The source article puts the Riyadh airport death toll at 14. Saudi aviation officials had earlier confirmed 12 dead and 309 injured. The group also threatens the Bab al-Mandab Strait, a chokepoint for Red Sea shipping.
Psalm 83 reads like a dispatch from our own day. The psalmist cries out that God’s enemies “make an uproar” and “lay crafty plans” against His people, and that they say, “Come, let us wipe them out as a nation; let the name of Israel be remembered no more” (Psalm 83:2-4, ESV). The Houthis chant death to America and Israel and a curse on the Jews, and now they are reportedly drawing on the help of a godless, hostile government to build the means to carry out those threats. The psalm shows that this kind of hatred and scheming is not new. It also shows that these conspiracies are never hidden from the Lord, who sits above every alliance of wicked men and, in the end, makes it known that He alone is “the Most High over all the earth” (Psalm 83:18). Christians should not meet this news with panic or with shrugging indifference. We should meet it as watchmen who take evil seriously and trust the sovereignty of God.
So we pray. Pray first for the families of those killed in Riyadh, including the American family now grieving. Pray for civilians in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen who live under the shadow of these missiles, and for believers in Yemen who have suffered long under this regime. Pray that President Donald Trump and his national security team would see clearly who is arming the Houthis and have the resources to cut off those supply lines. Pray for wisdom on whether and how America should act, so that any decision protects American lives and stands with our allies without drifting into a war with no clear purpose. Pray for Israel’s right to defend herself and for the sailors and merchant crews working the Red Sea. And pray that God would expose the networks that supply terror and bring their plans to nothing.
Let’s pray for protection over our allies and our service members, for leaders who will see the threat plainly and act with wisdom, and for the peace of Jerusalem and the nations around her.
