Trump Administration Cuts Migration From Muslim-Majority Nations by Over 90%
The Trump administration says legal migration from Muslim-majority countries has fallen by more than 90%, marking a dramatic shift from the levels seen during the Biden administration. The decline comes as President Donald Trump has tightened immigration and security screening while sharply reducing refugee admissions and other avenues of migration.

From Breitbart:
The White House says it has reduced legalized migration from Muslim-majority nations by more than 90 percent.
The policy shift also reduces the growth of antisemitic communities in U.S. society, said Noah Pollak, a Trump deputy in the Department of the Treasury and the Department of Education. “This is the single most consequential policy to combat antisemitism in the US in the last decade and it’s not even close,” he wrote on X.
In 2024, President Joe Biden’s deputies welcomed a monthly inflow of roughly 14,000 migrants from Muslim-majority nations such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, and Malaysia.
According to Breitbart, that monthly figure had fallen to roughly 1,000 by February 2026. The outlet attributes part of the decline to Trump administration reforms, including more extensive security screening. These figures cover several forms of legal immigration but do not encompass Muslims immigrating from countries where they constitute a minority, such as India.
The dramatic change comes amid a much broader debate over immigration, assimilation, religious liberty, national security, and antisemitism. Pollak argued that reducing immigration from Muslim-majority nations would help combat antisemitism in the United States. That argument has taken on particular significance following years of demonstrations in which some participants have openly supported Hamas or expressed hostility toward Israel and Jewish Americans.
Also at issue is the apparent contradiction between Islamic ideology and American values. Many teachings found in the Quran conflict not only with broad Christian and Western cultural norms, but also with principles protected by the U.S. Constitution. IFA has discussed this before at length, and the Trump administration seems aware of this contradiction as well. In an X post discussing this sharp drop in Muslim migration, DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin wrote, “Coming to America means committing to America: our Constitution, our laws, our freedoms. Tougher vetting under [President Trump] has cut admissions from high-risk countries by 96%.”
The contrast with previous administrations is significant. Immigration from several Muslim-majority countries increased during the Obama and Biden years, while the Biden administration also admitted tens of thousands of Afghans following the 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan. President Trump has instead made tighter immigration controls and enhanced vetting central components of his second-term agenda. Breitbart suggests that the more progressive Presidents may have welcomed Muslim migrants due to their tendency to vote for Democrats.
Twenty-five years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, questions surrounding immigration and national security remain deeply consequential. America has a long tradition of welcoming people from around the world, but government also bears a fundamental responsibility to protect its citizens and carefully determine who is permitted to enter the country. Let’s pray that our leaders seek God’s wisdom as they make these decisions, that genuine threats are identified before they reach our communities, and that our nation remains both secure and faithful to its constitutional commitment to religious liberty.
