Living on the Right Side of Glory—The Curtain
The following is an excerpt from our devotional series Living on the Right Side of Glory.
We were created in HIS image, from the beginning (Gen 1:26-28). He knit us together in our mother’s wombs (Ps 139:13-16), created us for His purposes and plans (Jer 29:11) and created us for His Glory (Is 43:7). We are His tabernacle, walking around – living and breathing. We carry Him!

The tabernacle was built as a dwelling to house the Living God (Ex 25-40).
It was set-apart, holy, and could not be defiled. A defiled priest entering into the holy of holies could expect to be pulled out of that holy space, dead, with a rope tied around our waist; for no one, except the ONE – pure, consecrated, with the mantle of priesthood – was allowed into that space.
His presence. His Glory.
The curtain once hung as a separation between us and Him. The symbolism of it is a picture which magnifies the chasm sin places between us and a holy God. We are completely unworthy apart from Him.
And yet…
Do you know He is the ONE? Do you know that His death TORE THE CURTAIN IN TWO as He became the ultimate sacrifice – the only, perfect atonement – a sacrifice made ONCE AND FOR ALL? He paid the ransom price for our lives, for our access, for our freedom!
When we call on His name – Jesus, our Moshiach (our King, our Messiah, our savior, our “hoped-for deliverer”), we are drawn into the fold of God. We become sheep of His pasture. He becomes our leader, our protector, our comforter, our provider. There is safety by His side! There is a quiet assurance.
For on the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle; He will hide me in the secret place of His tent; He will lift me up on a rock. (Ps 27:5) Take the time to read this whole psalm today.
The Lord asks us to give our lives over to Him, for Him. Make the following passage personal and let it become your prayer:
Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship. And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. (Rom 12:1-2 AMP)
PRAYER:
Meditate on what it means to be a LIVING SACRIFICE. Ask the Lord to speak to your heart and write down as He leads you today. How would your life look different if you let these words take root in your heart and mind?
