YOU ARE ACCEPTED

The word accept means the opposite of reject. It means to be recognized, validated, and believed.

The Scripture below says we are accepted in the Beloved Jesus Christ.

This means God recognizes you. He validates you. He believes in you. Even if you don’t believe in yourself.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved. (Eph 1:3-6)

Let’s break down some particularly important words in Ephesians 1.

You are blessed with spiritual blessings, seated with Christ in heavenly places. This comes as we recognize our position. We are seated in heavenly places with Jesus because we are children of God. If you haven’t done so, take your place.

He (God) chose us before the foundation of the world. You were chosen. You were handpicked by God before you were in your mother’s womb. You were created by God, for God, and with a purpose.

Having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will. (Eph 1:5)

We have been adopted into the family of God by Jesus himself. I just love that. I came from a very fractured home. When I realized I had been chosen by God, it changed my perspective. People may hurt me or reject me but that doesn’t change that I am chosen and accepted. I don’t need to strive to belong because I belong to God.  The same is true for you.

According to the good pleasure (purpose) of His will. (Eph 1:5b)

If you are breathing, praise God. Your life is no accident or mistake. Despite whatever you have been through or been told, your life was chosen according to the good pleasure of His will. His thoughts and ways are higher than ours. This is the sovereignty of God. He offers all of humankind a chance at redemption. He offers them a chance to become a part of the family of God, just as he did with you and me. He redeems our lives and then gives us purpose.

Only God can turn rejection into redemption, make orphans into sons and daughters, and make purpose from our greatest pain.

If you are struggling with acceptance, let’s pray together.

Father,

Forgive me when I seek validation from man and not You. Remind me that I am accepted in the Beloved. Thank You for Your wonderful love. Thank You for choosing me and bringing me into the family of God. Thank You that my life has value and purpose. Thank You for accepting me in Christ, help me to love myself and others like You do. I take my place as a son/daughter of God. I am seated in heavenly places with Christ; therefore, I am blessed with spiritual blessings.

I know that You will never reject or abandon me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
